Well that was fast….it’s Live!
And yes there’s snow in Springfield!
Currently Live on Android (looks like Android users got their wish) AND iOS AND Kindle. You may have to do a Tapped Out Search in the Store (and then tap on it for more info), to see the update. I did.
It’s also a MASSIVE update…remember every item in the game has to be reloaded to show it covered in show. So make sure you’re on WiFi and have some time…it goes up to 1227.2MB on my Android. It’s HUGE.
Starts off with some auto dialogue from Bart and Lisa. Followed by a 6s task for Lisa and 6s task for 5 Springfielders. This is followed by a task to place a free sign and a 6s task for Homer. And that’s followed by a 6s task for Cletus. Which is followed still by more 6s tasks. This time for Willie. Followed by a task to build Springfield Henge (Free), and a task to hand in an offering. Once you build (6s) Springfield Henge you’ll launch the Event Hub…
Back with more as I go through it. Ok guys more details below the fold (Note: I’m still updating this post as I go, so continue to check back and refresh this post until the titles says updated and complete It’s complete now). My apologies for it taking as long as it did. These late hitting updates kill me when it comes to pulling the info, then picking up the Tiny Addict and getting her ready for bed. Thanks for patiently understanding 🙂
And now for the info…and a disclaimer to those wanting to sit this one out…
First the disclaimer…I know this isn’t the Christmas Update many of us anticipated this year. It’s a little “off” for what we typically get this time of the year. And I know some of you have commented that this update would have been better suited for a THOH Update. I get it. Believe me I get it.
However, I would ask those of you already saying you’re not playing this one to give it a chance. The Simpsons are known for attacking anyone and everyone..in a humorous way that we all enjoy. This is just one of those moments. Heck in the first couple of lines of the dialogue Bart indicates to Lisa that he’s supposed to “Stone her to death” because she’s Buddhist. Not exactly PC culture…
So I would say to those of you upset about this update. Give it a chance. From what I can see in the files there are some funny twists and turns..and a few battles for Christianity to win out in this one. So give it a chance, it’s only day one. You never know you might really want a prize coming later one.
And the bright side? This is probably one of the shortest Winter Events (let’s face it this isn’t Christmas, although they call it XMAS 2016 in the files) we’ve ever seen. With only 2 Acts and it’s set to end before New Years (Spoiler there’s potentially some New Year items waiting as well…). So give it a chance, laugh at the dialogue (including Homer’s Bacon Fest…I know most of us can get on-board with that..mmm bacon) and remember this is a game. It’s a game about a show that picks on everyone and everything. So let’s see what the next 4 weeks bring…and then it’s onto the next thing!
Also it’s important to note that A LOT of this update is based on Sunday’s episode of The Simpsons. That’s where a lot of the premise for this update came from..so it’s not just EA. It does tie in with what the Simpsons will be doing on Sunday.
Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way…onto the finer details.
As always lets start with the stuff you get for free….in the first few parts of the event. As mentioned above the event kicks off, as per usual, with a series of 6s tasks for various characters. During that time you’ll earn two free items:
Pagan Winter Carnival Sign- Free, 1×7 in size
Springfield Henge- Free, 11×11 in size. Building this is what will get the event to trigger in your game.
A little later in the questline you’ll unlock the Lumber Mill, another free Building..
Lumber Mill- Free, 8×8 in size. 4hr Build This controls crafting.
Now let’s jump to what’s in the store…
So far it’s slim pickins for long time players that have pretty much everything. Only two new premium items are offered…and loads of returning stuff. Here’s what’s available:
New stuff..
Flander’s Frozen Car- 50 Donuts, Adds 2.25% bonus on all cash and XP
Old Tree Spirit- 100 Donuts. Adds 3% Bonus on all cash and XP. Earns 160

Returning stuff…
In addition to all of then items that returning last week during the Early Christmas…you have
Ling Bouvier- 110 Donuts, Full Character. Will help with the event. (she earns Currency). Should I Buy
Patches and Poor Violet- 100 Donuts. Like Sherri and Terri, two characters but act as one. Also help with the winter event (earn currency).
As some of you have noted this event is only two Acts. That’s it! Act 1 ends December 18th and Act 2 ends December 30th. So for those of you hoping they’d finish the event out BEFORE the New Year, you’ve got your wish. This is a short one!
Here’s a look at the currency for Act 1:
Antlers- Prize Currency. Collect Antlers to unlock the Act 1 prizes
Runestones- Crafting Currency. Collect Runestones to Craft the available prizes.
Catnip- Currency you earn by sending characters on tasks. Turn in Catnip at Springhenge to earn more Antlers/Runestones and other prizes.
Figurines- Just like Catnip, Figurines are a currency you earn by sending characters on tasks. Turn in Figurines at Springhenge to earn more Antlers/Runestones and other prizes.
Act 1 Prizes
Here are the prizes for Act 1…
Goat God Statute- 4,850 (This is a prize from the upcoming episode…)
Pile of Runestones- 11,350 . 100 stones, used for crafting
$5 Antler Rental- 22,750
New God Mr. Burns- 35,800 (Skin for Burns)
Goblet of Runestones- 42, 300. 250 Runestones, used for Crafting.
Cult Flying Saucer- 52, 050
The Parson- 68,350 Full character, leader of the Presbylutheran faith in Springfield
And yes for those wondering there IS a Bonus way to earn donuts after you’ve unlocked all of the prizes. For every 5,100 you collect after The Parson you’ll have your chance at 1, 2 or 3 donuts.
Crafting
Crafting takes place at the Lumber Mill. You’ll unlock the Mill for FREE once you’ve completed Logging In.
Once again you’ll have to level up to unlock more crafting prizes. And the items will be around for the entire event (all 23+ days of it). This time there’s only 10 Levels.
As always I’ll have a full breakdown in the crafting post…BUT here’s a quick look at the prizes:

Tappables
For Act 1 you’ll see Pagans pop up in Springfield. Tap them to earn Antlers AND Runestones.
For every Pagan you tap in YOUR Springfield you’ll earn 10 and 2 .
Currency Tasks
You’ll be able to complete 4hr tasks for Act 1 at Cletus’ Farm and Willie’s Shack. Each will earn you one of the currencies that you hand in at Spinghenge to earn more Antlers and Runestones. (Think Monorail Event/Weekly Tasks with Blueprints)

You’re collecting all that Catnip and Figurines to hand in at Springhenge. Handing in these items will earn you more Antlers, to unlock more prizes. Also, each day there will be a set number to hand in for that day, handing in that number will unlock a bonus prize for you.
So for Day 1 (day) complete 4 hand ins to unlock the Day 1 Bonus..more Runestones, for crafting.
As you can see when you have enough to hand in you’ll see a checkmark next to that list.
This is very much like the Monorail Event and Blueprint, etc, hand ins.
Once you’ve completed your hand ins for that days bonus, you’ll still be able to hand in items to collect more Antlers to unlock prizes….
BUT…just like the Monorail Event, there is a cap on the number of Antlers you can earn per day from Springhenge.
Gnome in Your Home
Like we’ve predicted that pesky little Gnome has come to life and it’s your job to tap on him to send him back to his box…
Tapping on the Gnome during the mini game (which I’ll breakdown in it’s own post), will earn you more currency. And upgrading the box will earn even more currency.
Every 4hr the Gnome will break out of his box and it’ll be up to you to find him. But don’t worry you’ll have a compass to guide you…
Just follow the direction of the Gnome Compass in the top right corner and it will lead you to the Gnome.
Once you find him tap on him until he disappears…
You’ll have 20 seconds (i think that’s what it said) to clear him from Springfield and earn bonus currency!
Neighbor Actions
Once you’ve unlocked the Gnome in Your Home in your Springfield you’ll be able to find him in a neighbors town. This will allow you to earn bonus currency!
However, you can only find him ONCE PER DAY via a neighbor’s town.
In addition to the Gnome in one neighbor’s town, you’ll be able to tap three Pagans in a neighbor’s town. 90 actions/day.
Each Pagan you tap in a neighbor’s town will earn you 5 and 2 . Neighbor actions, to tap Pagans, unlock during Pagan Paradise Pt. 2.

I am surprised with the controversy with this update. I really like the theme and I am personally happy that it isn’t really Christmasy. I celebrate Christmas, but like that this update isn’t just a rehash of past Christmas updates. It doesn’t seem out of the ordinary for a Simpsons theme to me. Thank you for the in depth update yet again Alissa.
I missed being able to get reindeer several years ago. Will they be available to buy with donuts this time?

Hey guys. Thank you so much for all the help. I’ve been playing for a few years and watching since the beginning. But a few of my long time good neighbors have kindof lost their motivation. So im looking for some active players. Some requests have been sent and if you would like to add my accounts “Redsphone” is my main and “rnbndhs33 ” is my 2nd. And i do play both at least once a day.
FYI: A new section of land is available.

Has anyone got Flander’s Frozen Car? Is it worth it?
Is the chicken coop the same as the one who h you have to buy with doughnuts and gets you bonus XP & Cash?
Well…yes and no. What we are seeing, is that those that are won, do not earn the bonuses. So…be advised.
So I think I have a tip for finding the gnome super quick and easy. My town happens to be all cobblestone except for like two sections of normal road. The gnome ONLY appears in those two areas. So I never have to search he’s always in one of those two sections. Just thought I’d share.

What a clever name! 😀 I have two poodle girls, Bella and Lulu as sassy as can be. I went by seeing what random name they responded to first to choose their name. One looks like a white fluffy sheep ( senior ) and one looks like a black baby goat. ( puppy ) What type of dog is yours?
Hi, no Chewfred is my roommate, it’s her name for this silly game but a combo of her 2 doggies they are imperial Shih Tzu’s I have 2 also one is a pup from her two, Bogey other is a silky Yorkie, Hank who is very handsome. You can also send her an invite if you have room. We currently have 4 pups from my Bogey & her Freddie (I know horrifying) but they all turned out great. Right now we have very busy house with 4 dogs & 4 pups and 2 Siamese cats thrown in just for fun lol. Just learned 1 of pups is leaving in next couple of days, but to good friends we see all the time.
That sounds great so many animals! Such a big animal family ❤️ The most my husband and I had at one time was 5 some from the street and some from the shelter. I had a shih ztu mixed with a spaniel the sweetest dog I’ve ever had but poor baby had a blood illness from bad genetic makeup from cross breeding ( kinda like me lol ) I think it’s wonderful you have the pups! I never had a pup till this year (shelter dogs were always atleast a year or older ) and my goodness I learned a lot of new things to put it mildly. Thank goodness for my mother in law’s help – with my heart I can’t keep up with my puppy Bella and Lulu actually lives with my sister now. When I was first having surgeries I lived with my mom, after my cardiac arrest I couldn’t go up stairs so we moved in with my in laws. ( my mother owns a two story home ) Well my dog Lulu got so attached to my sister while she watched over her during the times I was ill I couldn’t bare to part them when I moved. So I let Lulu stay with my sister. So living with my in laws my husband wanted a puppy since he could see I missed having a dog in my life. So my mother in law watches Bella in the day till my husband comes home. We thought it was important to keep a dog in my life because dogs prolong life. She does bring me a lot of joy. I can’t imagine 4 pups!! Maybe 4 dogs but pups too! Wow! So are the cats social towards the dogs? Oh I tried adding Chewford ( which I adore her name ) but there’s more than one out there. I love meeting other animal lovers! My Bella just lost her baby tooth last night.
How is this not a Christmas event? Yule IS Christmas.

It doesn’t hurt. The more hand ins you do the faster you unlock the prizes and get to bonut rounds…

This longtime Tapper (since March 2013) is lol ‘ing during this Event ….yet I’m sorry if this year’s Winter Solstice theme upsets some Tappers.
We’ve had silliness in this game app over the years – Puritan Sanders whipping himself, Elf Suit Ralph eatting yellow snow, Ghost Mrs Flanders teaching kids there’s no Heaven – and nobody has ever complained about any of these character tasks (we even got an Xmas Tree last year decorated with dying Roman Centurions with a Duck on top).
I am going to enjoy this Game App – make the most of it – and let EA work with The Simpson’s Staff (at FOX) with the understanding anything / everything can be lampooned ….
cjbrown; You reflect thoughts exactly. I have loved the Simpson’s shows since forever, watched with my kids as they grew up with Bart & Lisa (OK, or not…). Now, 25+ years into my love affair I believe that each of us who love this wonderful irreverence can deal with the gentle, intellectual lampooning of American culture, where anything is game!
As a keen follower of this fabulous TSTO site, I am frequently amazed at the careful ‘kid gloves’ our wonderful professional addicts wear to protect us from controversity / unhappy followers/ unpleasant comments! However, I also appreciate the friendliness I notice from almost every contributer, so it is apparent that Alissa et al have a secret sauce. Happy Saturnalia, Christmastide, Hanukkah, Fesuvis, Kwanza, anything I forgot and New Year to one and all.

So are we really supposed to get ruins from tapping pagans in Neighbour towns? Yesterday and today, I’m only getting antlers 🙁

All I’m getting is money….no event currency I think I’m doing something wrong….hmm
There are a couple of possibilities… First, maybe it hasn’t been 24 hours since you last started your neighbor visits? You only get event currency for the first a number of taps (exactly what x is seems to still be uncertain, although it seems like it may be around 30 or 45 taps). Or, it could be that you’re just not seeing the runes…they actually are kinda hiding under the money. If you know it’s been 24 hours since you last visited, note your number of event currency before you go neighbor visiting, then check it again after to see if it really has gone up.

Unfortunately, watching closer (and watching the lower left hand menu that tallies the antlers/runestones) I am getting antlers AND runestones for the first handful of towns and only antlers for the remaining! So weird. And then at some arbitrary (inconsistent) number, all that ends and the usually cash/xp only. So sad to be missing out on the crafting currency.
I think that’s the way it’s supposed to go….to be honest, I haven’t noticed that level of detail…I just listen for the antler-clacking sound and dinnertime look to see that I’m still collecting antlers. When I stop hearing the sound, I check to see that I’m not collecting antlers anymore, and then I’m done for the day. It’s not a lot of neighbors… I’ve seen reports of 17, and that sounds about right.
Hm it’s strange, At first I do get antlers and ruins, then just antlers then only money. I guess your right it’s only good the first 30 – 40 taps? Or is it because I met my quota. If that’s the way it works how will I get bonuts then? I got so many bonuts during the Halloween event by getting film from all my neighbors daily so naturally I was thinking the same strategy this event.
There are reducing limitations that kick in. So…you are correct in what you are seeing.
Thanks for clearing that up! Since my town is covered in snow and while beautiful all the glaring white is disorienting to me because of my seizure problem. Honestly I started to think I wasn’t playing this event right because I thought my neurological disorder was slowing me down since I’ve never had such a hard time understanding an event before until now.
You can still keep visiting neighbors to get cash, XP, and maybe donuts (if you’re lucky)….it’s just the event currency that’s limited.
By the way, welcome to the neighborhood! 🙂 I haven’t had a chance to stop by your town yet, but I should get over there sometime today.

I did not get 90 actions when visiting my neighbors today. Do the actions increase after the sawmill is built? I visited my neighbors while waiting for my sawmill to complete. Is this the reason I didn’t get 90 actions or are there fewer neighbor actions during this event?
There are some discrepancies is reports… We’ll keep you posted.

I’m not getting 90 actions when visiting my neighbors either. Plus, once I upgraded my gnome box to level 4, my compass disappeared. I haven’t been able to find the gnome in the past 24 hours! (And I’ve spent hours looking) Anyone else having this issue?
Go to Krustyland and back to Springfield.
Both issues are seemingly common. No answers as of yet.

My big question is who earns gave currency outside of places like Willy’s shack and Cletus’ Farm. For example, Count Burns in THOH 2016.
Ice Queen Burns does, but I haven’t found others.

Hi guys – thanks for a great run down. In terms of the crafting items, do any of them earn a bonus %? I seem to remember the windmill getting this recently, and I always thought the chicken coup carried a % premium as well?

It’s coded differently. Crafted ones are coded with crafting. Just like the Simpson snow people from last year
Question: in my freemium (Android) Springfield I have a antlers symbol in my task list that allows me to easily find any pagans in my town. My premium (Apple iPad) Springfield does not have this task, making finding pagans much harder. I play both towns the same – leaving me wondering – what enables the antlers task symbol?
Thanks Dave. When the hand points to the antler in my sidebar if I tap it the game ferries me to the outer edge of SH at the shoreline. Very annoying. I too am playing on an iPad, though it’s an older model. EA, what gives?!

Woo Hoo! After I posted here returned to my game & discovered the antler icon in my task bar!
If you go to the Lumber Mill and tap on the arrow that shows how many runes you need to upgrade it, as long as you don’t have enough runes to do an upgrade, you get a popup that that says “Do it”. When you tap that, it will take you to a pagan. Keep doing that tool you get the ‘no more pagans’ message.
The antlers task showed up on my iPad eventually, but soon disappeared when the task was completed. It is now gone from both of my games, so it is a moot point.
I noticed that White Witch Burns earns antlers.
I have also problems with the gnome. It says he’s running around. And by clicking “Do it” the gnome stays perfectly in his box and the compas doesn’t appear. Tried to to restart the game, without any good result.
I think the event has loads of content and game play the theme doesn’t bother me it’s a game after all
Been playing the Simpsons for about a year and a half now and was really waiting to enjoy the Christmas event and see what they came up with, all I can say is what a major disappointment, there is nothing xmas about it. I was already getting tired of every event going about the same way of winning stuff and then a pagan what seems to me satanic event for xmas, I think this has finished the Simpson’s for me, sad because I loved them, so on now to better games.

I’m sorry that you are not pleased with this event, but perhaps spare a thought for everyone who isn’t Christian who didn’t get to see their holidays celebrated every year.
I agree. I know there’s supposed to be a slight difference between the satanic pentagram and the pagan/wiccan one, but they do look too similar for my taste. That’s just my opinion on it. It’s a good opportunity for me to work on land expansions. This isn’t the first (nor will it be the last time that people are uncomfortable with certain symbols). Japan is changing their shrine symbols to make people more comfortable for the Olympics. I can definitely see why….. I know it means something else, but it’s the cringe reaction people get.

Hi is anyone else having problems finding the gnome? After the initial task of finding the compass has disappeared. Is this normal.
He goes back into his box for about 3 hours. While he’s in his box the compass disappears.
Im having the same problem. It keeps saying hes out running around but no compass or anything.

In the Bahamas so my internet is terrible. When I try to open the game, it says update required and takes me to the App Store. So, I search for tsto but when it comes up it only says open, not update. I am wondering if I should delete and reload.
It’s probably a location issue honestly.
I ended up deleting my game and reloading it. It took f – o – r – e – v – e – r to download (like two hours). But, I am having a white winter in Springfield. Hopefully, I will be able to play often if the internet stays up (between times when my buns are in the sand).

I’m glad I crafted extra ruins while I could. I wasn’t sure what I would use multiples for, but they fill out my stonehenge area pretty nicely. The similar mossy growth on both structures is what really sells it.
I’ve long been fascinated by old stone structures like pyramids and Stonehenge, so it’s fun to add such things to my town. (Still wish the Easter Island head hadn’t been out of my price range when it was available.)
I’m also glad for a second chance to pick up Ling. Last year I opted to spend my limited donuts on other things, but this year I had enough to splurge a little 😊
I could be wrong but it seems like i only 5 antlers and 2 runestones for about my first 10 or so friend actions, then just 1 antler
When I press Cletus farm I get sent to the home place for some reason what do I do
Bonus Updates: As previously mentioned the Windmill has a bonus, I noticed the two story outhouse also has a bonus. Any other old items with new bonus?
I believe the outdoor fireplace and the fancy igloo got bonuses.
