Today is the day many of us have been waiting for since the Around the World Event started…it’s the day we get Uncle Norbert and FINALLY figure out how the heck to get the elusive Golden Train.
So since it’s Friday, and most of you will be getting this today, I thought I’d sneak in an extra post here about Uncle Norbert and the train so y’all know what you’ll be working with over the weekend.
And with that let’s take a look at unlocking Uncle Norbert, his questline, unlocking the Golden Train and Uncle Norbert’s tasks…
So let’s start at the very beginning and unlocking Uncle Norbert’s plane….
You’ll do this via the Norbert’s Daily Tasks, it will be your final prize (instead of the Lost Luggage) on Day 8. Once you complete the 3rd task of the day and unlock the plane you’ll see this message…
Once placed in your Springfield (it’s 6×12 in size and impacts Vanity +100) you’ll unlock Uncle Norbert:
And he’ll complete your Van Houten Character Collection:
So once you unlock Uncle Norbert you’ll begin the quest for the Golden Train (as if you haven’t been working on it for weeks already)…
So you’ll have to complete the questline for Uncle Norbert to get the train. Here’s a look at the questline:

Norbert: The final step on my quest to find the Golden Train is a visit to an ancient hermit who lives high in the Himalayas.

Norbert: It is a sacred object from the dawn of mankind, with a history that surpasses our uttermost capacity for wonder and awe.
Lovejoy: What are you gonna do with it?
Norbert: Stick it in a parking lot and charge fifty cents to see it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some advertising to do.

Place the Golden Train
The Golden Train is 10×3 in size and impacts Vanity +100. The train is also animated when tapped…smoke comes out of the top and the wheels spin.
Once you’ve completed that questline you’ll also fully unlock Norbert’s tasks. Here’s a look at them now…
Uncle Norbert’s Permanent Tasks:

Search for Fossils will use one of those 3 buildings. If you have them. If you don’t have the Tar Pits it’ll go to the Retirement Castle, if you don’t have that then the Brown House.
Norbert’s Fly Loops task will take place using his Red Plane, and they did a great job with it. The plane will take off and land on the little runway strip it comes with…and then Norbert will fly across your screen.

I must be having a similar problem as my task clue today was ‘help an African Prince transfer money in West Africa’ and the “correct” flight was Mumbai, India which doesn’t make sense. Maybe I have missed something.
I hope EA would fix Norbert’s 4-hour task so that tapping on his plane as it scrolls along the screen does nothing. It’s quite annoying when I’m tapping on buildings and tasks, then accidentally Norbert as he’s flying along, and I get sent back to my airport.
Aside from that minor complaint, I’m pretty happy with the event overall. I got a dozen new characters (all 7 event characters, plus Uter and the V-Day bundle characters).
I’m also pretty happy to get a second chance to buy premium items I missed out the first time, and I got myself the Arc de Triomph, as I was holding back for Japanese stuff in Act 2, and there weren’t any buildings I wanted besides Himeji Castle. I love the design of the Pont du Gard and would happily pay the 60 donuts for it if it had a 2% bonus. But as a decoration, I really need to give it some thought as there’s still two more regular premium items I badly want, namely Jesse Grass and Aztec Theater.
I’m having the same problems here playing on kindle had the last task to get his plane now it’s lost luggage EA have messed this up should give everyone norbert !!!
Same here. Frustrating! I’m hoping for a fix soon to get the plane and golden train.
I have a slight issue. I triggered the Norbert quest today. And I “thought” I would have gotten hom, be when I went back I at 2 pm to see if my flights were complete, it looked like I never sent anyone. I always do so I can get the last prize. Has anyone else seen this?
I was worried that I wouldn’t get Norbert’s plane. I’m a big aero geek, so I really wanted it, but because of some real life travel I managed to get a bit behind in the game. Yesterday (Friday 3/3) I sent a Springfielder on the first of three “trips” to get Norbert’s plane and planned to do the remaining two today. Imagine my dismay that, overnight, the trips reset and instead of being presented with the remaining two trips, I started all over, and the prize for the third trip was lost luggage instead of the plane!
Being a good little tapper, I chugged along anyway and sent Springfielders on the 3 trips. I was thrilled to see the “Prize Unlocked” screen with the little red biplane when the third trip was completed!

So, fear not, fellow tappers! There’s still a chance to get Norbert’s plane if you think you may have missed it. Of course, as with everything in this silly little game, your mileage may vary, but I wanted to report out what I had seen and offer up that glimmer of hope.
I was glitching with this last night and this morning, but it “seems” to have sorted itself out.

I heard back from EA, they referred me to this article. Apparently your EA support now.
I can’t wait for this event to be over. I was excited about the airport at first because I work in aviation, but jeez. What a boring, uninspired event. Grinding and grinding for characters and buildings I’ve never heard of. Except for the antifreeze wine guys. They were great.
Alissa, Wookie, Patric– I noticed a 5% jump in my bonus percentage after placing the train. Do you know if this is just a glitch or if the train now adds a bonus? The only other addition to my Springfield was Norbert’s plane. Appreciate the clarification and thank you for everything you do on this site.
There was a bonus added to the Crazy Plane and to the
Spruce Moose. 2.5% each. Could this be it?

I must have been lucky…didn’t unlock the plane till this morning, but it went thru ok. Just got done placing the train…it was originally going to go to Squidport, but its just too big…decided to make it the train ride at Effcot instead…

Thanks for sharing Ebron! You’ve really incorporated it well. I love your usage of previous event items too. I wish I’d opted for the glitzy stadium entrance bundle too. It doesn’t quite work with the basic one and fences. I will have to re-jig a bit but it’s given me food for thought about better incorporating it in my museum area👍🏽…..💜X
My first attempt was to put it with Money Mountain, but I just couldn’t come up with a creative “spin”…it just sat there. Second attempt was a display on Squidport…also uninspiring…and it seemed out of place with all the restaurants and Dunk a Monk 😁.
Still not sure it will stay where it is…without any passenger cars, it isn’t a great fit at Effcot either🤔….we’ll see, maybe it will join my other “white elephants” in storage until EA decides to eventually give it some XP%. I might just invest in the museum… been wanting to get it and it opens lots of possibilities… thanks for the suggestion.
Final answer…ding, ding, ding…Money Mountain is the winner after all. To use the gold entrance, my entire stadium had to be gold…not my favorite effect, so back to the drawing board…

I’m having all the same issues as everyone else. Since it seems to be wide spread I’m going to guess that it’s a glitch and wait for EA to get on it and fix it. Oddly enough, with the two different clues I didn’t have any location that would satisfy the “fortified wine” clue but I did have Woodstock which would be the answer to the other clue. So I chose that location, and it said correct destination chosen, even though the clue didn’t match it. Hopefully this is fixed soon, since we’re running out of time for the event as a whole.
So I tried shutting everything out, powering off, doing the hard refresh, no change for me. Yesterday I was on my last set of flights for the golden train, and today I logged on to find it back to lost luggage again when I opened the last one two days ago. So I don’t know why some people are having this issue and not others. I’ve also noticed that I have not received any push notifications from tsto in the last two days, even though they are still on in settings. Has anyone else experienced this?
Any update on the whole lost plane/train/Norbert issue? The same thing happened to me today. Arg, frustrating.
I had the same problem with getting Norbert’s plane. For me, the solution was to restart my device (turn it off, then back on again). Then my plane was ready for me along with the final questline for the golden train.
i have the same issue, should have gotten the plane this AM, but it wasn’t there.
I’m also having the same problem as everyone else. I even completed the tasks after I was supposed to get Norbert’s plane and I still haven’t gotten it. Today’s tasks won’t even let me select the right character for the task because they’ve only got 3 characters listed as available and none of them are the right one.
I’ve hard restarted and everything. This glitch is worse than most of their glitches.
I was also about to earn Norbert’s plane yesterday and the prizes all reset when I logged in last night to complete the final task. Also back to lost luggage, and I only have two characters to choose from for the flights (neither of which are the correct one to complete the “fortified wine in southern Europe” task). No other characters are tasked out, but nobody else is available for flights. I opened a ticket at EA.
Did not receive the plane after completing daily tasks. I’ve contacted EA.
Got a response. Looks like they will be sending out an update that fixes this.
Not sure what they mean about grind currency vs no luggage but here’s EA’s answer:

Thank you for contacting EA. I understand the issue you are facing and I will help you with the issue. I have discussed the issue with the Specialist and please make sure you have installed all available updates.
It will take time for the update to propagate in all regions, so if you haven’t received any new updates please continue checking for the next 24 hours. After the fix you can still earn Luggage from Norbert tasks, but you will receive grind currency instead.
Lastly, if you have installed all updates but is still experiencing these issues, please reboot the app or visit a neighbor. This should cause the game to check for the bug and apply the fix.
Wow, that response is vague and misleading and probably just plain wrong. I believe the “grind currency” available via Norbert’s luggage is actually the sky credits that should be available as lost luggage for days 9-11 of this act. How this relates to having day 8’s prize (the red plane) go missing is beyond me.
The advice to reboot the app or visit a neighbour is valid, as this often fixes issues. Other possible fixes include logging out and back into the app and uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Only do these last two if you’ve an origin account set up for your game though.
Also, forcing the flight list to refresh might help – send a character waiting for a flight on a regular task. Only do this if you’ve other characters free. And if you want a new destination to appear, send one character on a flight and another character waiting for a flight on a regular task. Never actually send the last character waiting for a flight on that flight though, or you’ll need to wait four hours for any more flights to become available.
Otherwise, while waiting for EA to sort things out (sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t) I’d recommend continuing to send characters on flights. If there’s a glitch with the display or with reading the destinations wrong it might correct itself as you continue playing. Try sending a character on a flight to whatever destination answers Norbert’s current riddle. If that doesn’t work, see if there’s a flight waiting to go to what should be the answer to Norbert’s riddle today and/or for whichever step of his riddles you were on when the game got glitchy. Check the event page for the post detailing the answers to Norbert’s riddles for act 3 to find out which flights to try.
She’s talking about the SkyCredits they give the week after you get all the terminal prizes in the lost luggage.
I didn’t get the plane – it said all completed, gave me nothing and now I have to do music in North America (Woodstock) and final prize is 250 pins and lost luggage? WTH???
Yep, same here. Looks like my falling behind on the trips means no Norbert for me.
I ended up getting the plane rather than the luggage when I finished. How did you fare?
Yes….well, I only got one round of flights in the next day (long story, but basically between hockey, play dates, and attending the Red Bull Crashed Ice finals, it didn’t happen….) so when I got home I discovered it was only 10 donuts to rush a round. Although I never use donuts to rush, I rushed that round, and then immediately rushed the thirs round, and I got the plane and Norbert too. So, I would say that was 20 donuts pretty well spent. I didn’t want to chance going another day, because I wasn’t sure how long the follow up quest would take to get the train. Very happy.
Oooops. Tapped the plane again in my Springfield and it finally took me to the airstrip. Still a lot harder to trigger than Arnie though.

I was one set of tasks away from earning Norberts plane last night when I went to bed. I would have gotten it today. Then when I signed in this morning the game made me start over with the 3 tasks, and I am back to opening lost luggage. It also has 2 different clues to pick the right destination one was finding peace with music in North America. This was on the main event screen. The other was drink fortified wine in southern Europe. This one was where you send characters. Does anyone know if this means I won’t get Norbert, his plane and the Golden train or if it just a glitch that will hopefully fix itself next time I sign in? Also is anyone else experiencing this? I have had a hard time earning prizes with this event simply because I just can’t sign in as often as I used to, but I was excited to see yesterday that I was at least going to earn Norbert, but now I am not sure. Thank you!
It sounds like it’s trying to redo yesterday’s tasks and give you today’s tasks at the same time. If Woodstock, USA or Lisbon, Protugal are on you flight list pick one or both of them and see what happens.
I’ve tapped Norbert’s plane in both mine and neighbor’s towns and haven’t been taken to the airstrip. It’s like it’s not even there. YES!!
Wish that were the case with Arnie Pye and his stupid helicopter, which is always in the way when I’m trying to tap neighbors.
Oh oh.Finished travel task this morning to see Norberts’ plane as my final task. Something happened and the suitcase reappeared as the final task (I’ve aleady collected everything in there). The location riddle popped up, but not the correct location to travel to appeared. Tried sending someone on a task to change travel locations multiple times with no luck. Tried hard stops, visited Krustyland and neighbors. Anyone else with this problem? Quest was ‘ Peace of music in North America’ with the answer being ‘Woodstock, NY’ .
Yeah, this happened to me too. Except I just started to begin the tasks to earn the plane. EA better do something about this like give us 25-30 donuts or the plane instantly.
I’ve completed the 7 daily tasks, and my game seems to be stuck saying I’ve completed all of the tasks come back tomorrow. It’s been doing this for a day, I can complete one of the three. Unlocking Norbert’s Plane is a task in my bar, when I say do it, it takes me to the airport, where it will only let me go on one adventure task 🙁

I don’t know what happened but overnight tasks completed and I did t get my plane. I don’t see it in inventory. 🙁

So I was keeping up with Norbert’s task whole week without losing any of the prize… And the last day, when I was finally supposed to unlock the plane I had to travel home whole day and didn’t make the last flight…I feel is so unfair… 🙁 Now I missed whole point of the event just because of unfinished 4hours 🙁
I didn’t complete the tasks in time yesterday. The plane disappeared as the 3rd prize and lost luggage is back. This never happened when I was late with the prizes before. What can I do?
I didn’ get the plane/norbert awarded, it reset to collect for “luggage”. Go to Woddstock (peace of music in north america).
Any fix? (tried the usual syncing/hardclosing) will I be able to get it somehow later? I played the whole event…
