Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
So Act 1 is now over and Act 2 is underway in Springfield. For those looking for information about Act 2 you can check out this post from earlier this morning. Right now, even though we’re in the midst of Act 2 I want to take a minute to talk about Act 1.
I’m seeing a lot of reports from players (regular players here, who never have trouble) saying they missed out on getting the last prize (or even the second to last prize) or it was really tight for them. It’s more than we usually see after an event. In fact I don’t know that I’ve see this many complaints since 2014.
Sure, we always have a few complaints here and there, but usually they’re from players who didn’t log in frequently (and we all know events take multiple log ins every 4hrs to complete). This time I’m seeing complaints from players who logged in every 4hrs, 4-5 times/day, did as they were supposed to and still fell short, or nearly fell short. Complaints from players who never have issues during events, yet with this particular event…they struggled.
Personally, Act 1 was like any other event for me. I didn’t even log in regularly some times and still managed to finish before the weekend. So I’m a little perplexed that so many of you struggled. Sure, I have a bunch of premium characters, but I skipped neighbor visits (sorry neighbors, I just ran out of time each day) and often only logged in 3 times/day sometimes only 1 or 2. So I’m seriously scratching my head over how so many of you (who regularly have no issues) struggled.
So I want to take a minute to see exactly what happened. What went wrong. Was it you. Or was it the game. So if you fell short, or nearly fell short, please take a minute to answer the questions below in the comment section, so that we can all take a look and see what happened, and determine if we can offer any advice so you don’t fall short on Act 2.
Here we go…
-How many characters did you have at the HQ?
-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium?
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day?
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
-Did you start the event late?
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
Appreciate y’all taking a minute to answer the questions!

-How many characters did you have at the HQ?
9
-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium?
2 were premium – but only had Lurleen from halfway through event.
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day?
3-4 times daily, except for 48 hours (the first weekend of the Act) when I was in the woods and without internet.
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
Yes.
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
Max of 30 neighbors (90 actions) nearly every day (probably 75% of the days), but visited at least some the rest of the days
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
Yes.
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
I did get daily challenges for intel. There were only about 3 days that my challenges were for something else, but I did not skip those challenges.
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
Yes, and scores were typically 400-500.
-Did you start the event late?
No. In fact, atypically for me, I stumbled across the update within minutes of it going live, so I started very promptly.
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
Never ahead. I was probably 2-3 days behind early on, after missing the first weekend. I caught up substantially, but never got ahead of the calendar.
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
Did not unlock all. Missed Agent Bont by about 1500. (Bought him for 30 or 35 donuts.)
One more you didn’t ask about: It wasn’t until the last few days of the event that deciphered all of the “Math” post and understood what Patrick was saying about needing to login extra times to get all of the MITs. Up until then, I was relying on random MIT tapping and Drone Scan playing, and beliving that was getting rid of ALL of the MITs that way.
In conclusion: Falling behind early-on was not great. Missing some neighbor visits was not great. Missing the “banked” MITs was not great. But these don’t seem like they should be fatal problems. For the 2nd half of the Act, I was grinding HARD to catch up, and it was still beyond my reach.
Thanks for inquiring!
Happened to me too I log in 3to4 times a day and do what I have to and I fell short of the last prize by a long way
In my main game, I got Bont with 2days left. I have several premium and superpremium . Most days I logged in 3 or 4 times. Neighbor visits I did about half the time; much more at the end than at the beginning . Yes, the quest line was completed. Yes, started late because well, Kindle. The drone game average is about 20 agents. For some reason, on my main game, it moves slower than on my B game and I get less agents. Even installing on my new phone and playing there yielded the same results. Both the Kindle and the phone are new within the last year, and newer than the Kindle I play my B game on, where I average about 30 each drone game. I had one of two challenges for intel. My B game, I got Bont the last day, as I don’t have premium characters there. I did buy the agent. Other than the stupid drone game, much the same as my A game.
I’m scratching my head as well, people really had a hard time finishing the prize line in act 1 ? I finished like 4-5 days to spare… Logged in 4 times a day and had no struggles. Hmmm
Same here.
“B” town was tapped 3 times a day and got two sets of bonuts
I had no probs getting bont and even did bonus prolly four times
I play 3 towns, all 3 have freemium and various premium, only one has super premium. So all 3 towns has 10 characters to send to hq.
Started on time in all towns and cleared each town at least 4 times a day sometimes 5.
Completed all daily tasks skipping as much as possible trying to get intel task each day.
Completed all dossier tasks
Visited neighbors every day although a few days only had time to visit enough to get intel for that day, sorry other neighbors, I try not to do this.
Did drome scan daily with average score around 350-400.
At several points I was ahead of calender then would get behind and stayed behind. I noticed that with the HQ there were times I had all my characters in it then when time was up would go to click it and they were no longer there so never collected anything for them. This occured in all 3 times. Thinking it may have been while dossier tasks are running if I click to start the character on that task and they are finished at hq, HQ empties but no intel is collected. Like I said this occured ramdomly in all 3 towns and losing that on average 1 -2 times a day put me behind.
Ended up getting all the prizes by staying up last 2 days and collecting hQ and doing drone scan every 4 hours over 48 hours squeezed in all the prizes for all 3 towns. My main town finished Sunday but town B finished Monday early afternoon, town C finished at 1:30 am this morning luckily.
Strange that 3 towns finished so differently when they are all played exactly the same at the same times. But, like I said noticed that HQ glitch where the characters are done without collecting anything so maybe thats the reason.
I’m probably beating a dead horse here, but I’d like to reiterate what many others are saying. The nerds and other premium characters must have made all of the difference. It makes me wonder if this is EA’s way of rewarding those of us who spend the doughnuts for the premium stuff?
I’m strictly a freemium player. Had 7 free characters and garbo acquired free from a previous event. i was able to complete this 2 days ahead. So the answer is no, having nerd and premieum characters arent the only difference. Here’s my math on it.. 7 + 1 premium equal 340 per 4 hours. 340 x 5 check in per day = 1700.. Drone scan avg about 500. x 5 = 2500. MIT..12 INTEL PER MAN 6 per hr = 72 = 180 every four hrs do to limit if you dont check in.. So total so far 1700+ 2500+ 900 = 5100 avg before daily challenge or dossier or visiting friends..adding in these 3 other things reaching it was a breeze. of course it took a little grinding of 5x times instead of 4x a day but its doable. Unless the MIT is not giving intel like its suppose to, this event isnt really all that hard to complete
I think there has been some confusion over whether you should clear the MIT first before completing the drone scan game…
I noticed several times my counter did not go up unless I tapped them all first.
Please correct me if I’m wrong?
Also. ..I experimented with the destination Springfield event and did not buy any premium buildings etc. to help with that event. I managed to get all the prizes but only on the very last day and yes I was logging in 4 times a day. So I believe it is possible to finish an event as a freemium.
I look forward to your conclusion on this data collection Alissa ♡
I discovered very early that I did better if I cleared all of the MIT first, then played the “find the agent” mini game.
Agreed, it took me a couple of days to realise this though as I had taken the advice to just use the drone to ” clear everthing “.
This may be one of the reasons some players fell behind.
After the drone scan game, a “blast” happens that clears all the men in tan and drops the rewards. (Similar to the Sci-Fi event, it doesn’t matter if you tap them first, or let the blast take care of it)
I thought I saw the game tell me that would occur as well, but it never occurred for me. If I saw 5 of 6 MIT on my screen prior to the drone game, they were still there after, and that’s all the way through the end of act 1. They definitely NEVER cleared for me. But fortunately I caught that very early into the event.
No I definitely was better of clearing the agents first then using the drone.
I know the drone scan is supposed to clear them all, but I do it manually anyway beforehand, just because, well you know…I’m crazy like that.
-How many characters did you have at the HQ?
12. (1 super premium, 4 premium)
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day?
3-4 times a day.
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
Yes.
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
Almost every day, I visited the max amont before the intel disappeared.
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
You bet.
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
I never skipped any event challeneges. I got Intel or Schematics a number of times.
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
Yes. My average is like 30-35 agents, 3-5 super agents.
-Did you start the event late?
Yes, this is probably what bit me in the ass. I don’t have automatic updates anymore so I started a solid day and a half behind.
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
I managed to catch up with the calendar in the beginning, after that I couldn’t keep up despite logging on regularly.
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
Nope. Missed out on the last one by like 500 Intel…which drives me crazy. I can pay 10 donuts to get Agent Bont. Should I?
I blame myself because obviously if I had started on time I would have been fine. What I don’t like is that I actually caught up for like a day or two but then I fell behind despite trying my hardest. I also don’t like that I would have been super behind if I didn’t have so many premium characters. Oh well!
Yes, spend the 10 donuts & of course when the dossier tasks finished so did that extra 1000 Intel we were obtaining daily. There was also some extra rewarded at the beginning with the Act 1 tasks. All together meaning it was a lot harder for the last few days than at the start.
How many characters did you have at the HQ?
Always had the regular characters (plus Rex Banner) until I bought Scorpio last Monday.
-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium?
Two of them are premium, one being super premium (didn’t know that was a thing?)
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day? A LOT – mostly because I set 1 hour tasks for characters not involved in the event… so, 8-10 times a day? (I have a lot of free time((not really)))
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
YES, two days before it ended!
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
Not daily, but when I did I visited everyone (100 I think)
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
Yes!
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
Yes, I think I got like, 3 daily challenges for intel. Always completed the challenges.
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
Yes! My starting score was usually 39-42, but it has gone down to like, 30-32 (my tapping has slowed down drastically)
-Did you start the event late?
Nope, started on time.
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
Honestly, I don’t know. I think I was a little bit behind at first…
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
YES, got every prize fortunately! I wasn’t sure if I would be able to complete it on time, but managed it without using donuts to speed up the process.
-How many characters did you have at the HQ? 17
-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium? Premium – 6 Super – 4 (bought the nerds pretty late in the act and Russ a day after he was released).
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day? Sometimes only three, usually 5-6.
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline? Yes.
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit? I missed 2-3 days, but otherwise visited enough neighbors to get the max payout each day.
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day? Yes.
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Yes. Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics? Only skipped if they were for SH or monorail. I kept the donut, intel and schematics challenges.
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like? I didn’t set an alarm to do it every 4 hours, but was in my game usually 5 to 6 times a day and would play when it was available. Average 36 little and 4 big. I also cleared all the MIT from my town BEFORE starting the drone scan in order to get payout from both sources.
-Did you start the event late? No.
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind? I was ahead.
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?) Yes. Got Bont last week and had several rounds of bonuts, no problem.
I usually play events pretty hardcore and have never had a problem finishing on time or early — I was nervous about this one, though, so bought the nerds. They were a huge help for staying ahead of the clock!
I agree. I think the nerds, and the other premium characters must have made a big difference. I have the nerds and premium characters too, and I had no troubles at all. I collected bonuts for about 6 days.
Yes for the destination event l am sure there was nowhere near so many premium characters that could earn extra currency.
-How many characters did you have at the HQ? 9 Characters (1 super premium (80/task), 1 premium (60/task) Bought hank a few days into event.
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day?
Tried for 4 times a day, but probably averaged just over 3 once act was done (7am, between 11 and 2, between 3 and 6, 10pm)
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
YES
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
When I did visit got all available Intel. But only visited 3 or 4 times
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
YES
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
Had some for intel, didn’t skip any. What ever the prize was just did it (honestly didn’t know i could skip)
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
I played every time i logged in Average was 450
-Did you start the event late?
Little bit, but not to bad I don’t think it was a full day (play android)
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
Was a full day ahead by first prize, but fell behind on last couple days
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
I did get everything with few hours to spare. was on pace to finish day early like always, kinda got lazy and missed bunch of taps on weekend so pushed it right to the end,
are you seeing the agents dropping schematics/ and watching total collected. sometimes they are not going up. had 110 tapped on agent shows dropped but total did not go up.
I played every day every 4 hours did every dossier and played every agent search and visted all other Springfields. And i had 10 characters going. All that and i still didnt make it to get the last. I was so close. Im disappointed i didnt get the last character. I even set an alarm so im playing every 4 hours
I currently have 20 characters (added 1 today). 6 (7) of those produce 80 versus 20 and 7 produce 60. (6*40)+(7*20), or 1500+ extra per day.
– 7 freemium characters
– 4 times per day
– I’ve completed questline
– I’ve visited friends every three days
– I’ve completed every Dossier Task
– I’ve completed every Daily Challenge, but I haven’t skipped any of them
– I’ve played Drone Scans 4 times per day, something about 37 regular and 5 super agents every play
– I’ve started first day of the event
– I’ve always been few thousands behind
– I’ve missed last prize, I’ll have to pay 35 donuts to get James Bont
I’m sick of these Act 1,2,3 events all the time. They should change it up like when the game 1st came out. It is very hard to log in every 4-5 hours when most people have normal jobs and there are over 240 characters to use. I think 1-2x a day to log in should be sufficient and then if you’ve got extra days be able for some of the freemium players get extra Bonuts.
I logged in 1-2x a day, have all the characters in the game and still had to pay donuts to get Mr. Bont. Worth it, but I stopped playing this game for a year when the Comic Book Super Heroes event came out as it was just not entertaining to me. The Wild West one looked like it would’ve been fun and he casino one, but I missed those. Ah well, at least they are offering old items more frequently to purchase or use donuts on.
I got my last prize yesterday, my husband did not achieve the last prize, though. I filled out the form for him.

IMO this event very nearly, if not totally, relies on having at least some premium characters. By the time I earned the final prize, over 2/3 of my event income was from premium characters. I am a freemium QEM farmer.
Got the last prize on day 10/14. I had various premium characters from before and bought all the new ones as they became available (thanks to savings, KEM farming and careful management of spending; prioritise characters, and wait until last moment to buy anything else so that I always have a reserve to buy new chars).
Tapped neighbours all days but one. Regular 4hr taps with >8hrs sleep (so 12-hour day, 3 4-hour periods = 4 taps per day).
Always manually tapped MIT before using the drone scan. Don’t know if that made any more intel than just using scan.
I have a strip of expensive land that juts out. I put the drone scan building at the end of it. It seemed to make it easier to tap things that way (they only spawn on land that you own). Averaged 40 normal dudes + a few special ones, mostly by tapping the screen edges.
Never accepted the 1,000 Intel daily prizes. Dumped them for blueprint or donut prizes.
I think that having premium characters was probably the key here, though maybe my drone scan strategy (tap MIT first) and placement had some effect, too.
I failed and was about 9,000 short of Bont (I picked up Denz Monday afternoon).
I think, looking at the calendar now – my main problem was a late start. I didn’t start the event until my tablet did the whole “update available, want want” thing – which I think was the Friday…
So – answers to the questions:
– characters – I think it’s 13 based on the act 2 ones
– (so, that’s something like 9-10 regular and 3-4 premium (but no super premium)
– Logged in regularly – 3 or 4 times daily – however – I didn’t realise the “men in tan” were tappable until the last few days of act 1 – I thought it was all Drone Scans and HQ stuff. (I think that during the early days of the act, the tan-men were hiding much better; I saw many more of them towards the end).
– Completed the quest line
– visited Neighbours most days; might have missed one or two – but got the majority. (Basically all neighbours until the even currency stops paying out).
– Dossier tasks completed daily; however, due to the late start, there was a bit of a backlog – which may have contributed to missing out on Bont.
– I had a couple of daily challenges for Intel, but mostly was for 1-3 donuts. Didn’t think to skip challenges.
– Drone game played everytime the town was cleared (once available); average score – between 20 and 30 hit. (usually around 25 regular, 2-5 super)
– yep 🙁 These updates always appear when I think “ooh, nothing’s happening – no need to check the addicts group for a bit”
– nope – never ahead this time.
– Just the last one (approx 9,000 short).

-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks?: yes

I had no problems finishing, even having at least 3 days to earn bonuts. I did have the all of the premium characters though.
Got bont few hors before act 2.
-7 normal caracters plus gano, lucius and scorpio
– 3 times a day
– never went to friends towns
– played the drone game every time i log in
– did all the dossiers
– never skipped a daily task
2 days before act one end i realize i was behind schedule. Went to friends towns 2 times and set alarm for 3am to log in for a forth time.
I think the friends town make a lot of difference. Its time consuming so i usually avoid it
I only had 1 premium character, but was pretty faithful about logging in at least 3-4 times a day. I regularly visited neighbors, always did the scan (averaging about 28 regular and 2 beefed up soldiers), and never x out a daily challenge. I did all the dossier quests and received bonuses for that. I just couldn’t finish the event on time. I ended up spending 20 donuts to get Agent Bont. I was really close, but no luck on actually finishing Act 1. I was very bummed out because I’m a freemium player and 20 donuts is a huge deal to me.
I completed the prize track, but only on Monday morning – it’s usually been Saturday in past events.
9 characters at HQ including 2 premium
Started one day late (had to uninstall/reinstall to kick the event off).
Logged in at least 4 times every day, and on 3 occasions when I had to get out of bed at 3.00am for work I squeezed an extra visit in. Set jobs away and did a drone scan each time.
Only missed one sweep of neighbour visits.
Completed all daily tasks.
Is it just me that thinks the research prizes will be cutting it fine as well?
I missed Bont by about 7,000 – I haven’t missed completing a questline in 2 years (he’s now buyable at 115 donuts, but not wort it for me). FWIW, I’ll also note that I checked and about 2/3 of my neighbors also missed him… the only ones who made it were my uber-premium neighbors who apparently own stock in EA and must pay through the nose for those massive premiums.
I admit I’m a freemium player… I’ve only ever purchased donuts once (there was a good deal that included some other stuff about a year ago), but at the end of the day that circumstance is what clearly capped it for me: statistically it was nearly impossible to hit it all without having premium players, or unless your were a perfectly committed player. That might work for the kiddies, but I have a career and family that requires my occasional attention.
Yes, for me, this is what I call a ‘game’. It’s supposed to be fun. I’m not putting my life on hold for it, and I sure as heck am not going to ‘lose sleep’ over it (more on that in a minute). In fact, I can’t think of another computer game I’ve ever played where I have to actively choose between conducting my life and participating in it. I realize that pragmatically the questlines have to have time limits, but TSTO is increasingly not about the fun factor, but rather how much of your soul you’re willing to sell to play it. When it’s no longer entertaining me, I’m out.
What surprises me is that the folks here at the site are ACTUALLY surprised themselves. Their own calendar was pretty clear that the minimum daily earnings would be substantial, and the author joked numerous times about it being doable if people – in fact – got up in the middle of the night to tap. I did the math too, and honestly – without premiums – I believe that was absolutely true.
EA can monetize the game however they like, but if this is the ‘new reality’ that you cannot finish questlines without going premium, then they should be more upfront and pragmatic about it (as should the site here). If I know going in that I can’t get realistically get all the stuff done without 100% commitment, then just say “if you want it all, you really have to buy some premiums; otherwise you’ll only get part way”.
I missed the last prize of act one and for my part it is because i didnt realise untill the end, that to get the full bonus you would have to tap all agents and drone afterwards. Until this i tapped a few agents and left some for drones. This tactic went well untill i realised that i never would be able to make it and would bee a few thousand short.
Hey Alissa,
thank you for considering something gone wrong, I was wondering why I missed out on the last prize but was about to shrug it off… btw, I could swear the last count I saw was like “15 hours left”, and the next morning I logged in Act 2 already had started… 🤔
How many characters did you have at the HQ?
Usually around 12
-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium?
5 Premium
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day?
Average of four times a day
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
No, I didn’t get Bolt! Would have to pay 160 donuts now.
-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit?
Yes I did, but I have only 5 neighbors. Maybe that’s it…?
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
Yes I did
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
I got some, I guess… maybe around six.
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like?
I played it every time I logged in (ca. four times a day), average score around 30
-Did you start the event late?
No I didn’t
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind?
TBH I didn’t check, but had a good feeling
-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)
Missed out on Bolt, and by a pretty large gap
Err, I got something wrong, the answer to “Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?” is of course, yes! 🙄😋
I know for myself personally I finished a couple of hours before act one ended and had 8-10 characters some of which were premium. But really made me angry was that the men in tan were missing from my town for a day and a half which when logging in every 4 hours and counting on the Intels only to find thme missing really upset me and was worried I wouldn’t get agent Bond by the end of act 1. I am also curious if this bug happened to anyone else?
