Did you go into TSTO this morning and see something strange happen? Something similar to this perhaps?
Weird right? That’s not you, who the heck is this? So you hit logout and try to log into your correct account. Of course, it’s not that simple, as you’re then you’re met with a message similar to this…
Huh? WTF?! WHERE IS MY SPRINGFIELD?! These may be some of the thoughts going through your head.
Relax. Take a deep breath. It’s fixable I promise. This happened to me this morning and I had it fixed in under a minute.
If this happens to you, simply hard close TSTO. (and by hard close I mean shut down the app. So that involves you going to whatever app manager you have and force closing the game. This could be as simple as holding the home button down on iOS and swiping away the game or hitting the double angles on Android and swiping away the game. In any need to HARD CLOSE/FORCE CLOSE it).
Then restart TSTO. You may be logged in as someone else. In my game it had me logged in as 1. Weird. Just hit the logout button. And try to log back into your game. Once you get the login popup you should be able to log right back into your Springfield and everything will be fine.
If for some reason this doesn’t work…others have mentioned they uninstalled and reinstalled TSTO and were successful. So that’s another option for you.
But for the love of Jebus…whatever you do don’t panic. Your game is not lost. You can get it back, just stay calm and follow the steps above. If you’re still having issues you can contact EA…but they’re just going to tell you to do the same thing I just did…

Honestly nowadays when I log into TSTO and it doesn’t cause my tablet to explode in my face I’m happy
Getting very, very close to “Tapping Out” of Tapped Out permanently.
Seems like EA is trying to out bug Bethesda lately……..
Update in app store but nothing has happened in game as far as I can see
cant get in at all, tried 3 devices (ios, android and amazon fire) hard shut down, device reboot, uninstall and reinstall, nada. Just “an error occurred…..”
I’m having the same problem. I’m unable to get in at all.
I’m also getting the “an error occurred” message. 🙁

It’s great having this community and knowing that these bugs are not just happening to me.
Didn’t we get a warning a week ago that EA was introducing a “more secure” proceedure that would require everyone to log-in to their games? Well…it certainly is harder to log-in, and your game’s a lot more secure (since nobody can get in to play), but I sure wouldn’t call it an improvement. Makes you wonder if there are real people doing the programming there, or just a bunch of Space Chimps 👽🙈🙉🙊👽?

Hard closing didn’t help.
I did have to hard restart my iPad, but didn’t have to reinstall.
Update: just logged back in and i got it AGAIN.
After the same procedure (3 times log in, the strange character login, the “1” and then normal). I restarded my phone, gave it another try, and the game started a spontanous redowload. That never happened before. What i have now is that everything is much smaller, i can barely read the conversations, all buttons are smaller, etc.
annoying. I don’t have the famous glitch tho, the rest seems to work fine.
Try freeing up some space on your device. It’s likely that you don’t have enough free space. Game requires 3.5-4 GB, I recommend 5GB. (same thing has happened to me in the past, freeing up space helped)
I still have over 10G free. Must have to do something with this login thing. But thanks
Way too many damn bugs in TSTO lately… Me and my wife are still waiting to see EA eradicate the rollback glitch.
I just restarted my device and that worked for me. I did a hard stop first but it didn’t help.
I was hoping that THIS was the result of EA fixing the “Big Glitch” (see-Big Salad). Sadly, it was not. But another crisis averted. Thanks, Alissa!!! 🙂
Got axactly the same. After hard closing i got the 1 too. Logged in under “1” and it was my game. Closed the game again and then i could log in under my name without using my password
Restarting my device worked. It first tried to load me in at level 1 and wouldn’t let me log out, did hard close and this time when I started the app it already had my correct info and got right in.
Force stopping didn’t work for me at first. So i uninstalled and reinstalled again. Because of the long wait for 1.5gb worth of updates, i was forced to finally wash dishes. EA is watching. They know when you’re eating dinner out of pots you cooked them in. Hahaha. I’m sorry everybody, i think my mom called EA.

I played this morning and got in just fine. Just now got this and keep getting the error after hard closing the app. Don’t really want to uninstall/reinstall.
Well. that may be your only option if the force close and logout didn’t help.
For me logging in didn’t work I had to close and open until my username showed up! But it makes you feel like you forgot your password lol I thought I was getting the massive glitch thing.
I wish I had this problem instead of the roll back glitch for the last couple of months. EA sends out periodic notices that they are working on it. But there is no change. Just constantly mounting frustration. If left unrepaired it will be the death of this game.
Happened to me just now, hard close the started the game as normal and it worked, didn’t need to log in again, strange bug, what’s happening????
I was hoping that EA was fixing the longstanding bug. I managed to log back in but the bug is still there. E.g. icon problems etc.
It didn’t happen to me but I am still having issues with my Springfield being super slow
uninstall/reinstall trick. im in again glad to see the tapped out icon on my tablet screen again was just an android logo 4 a long time
Happened to me last night and again twice today. I manage to get logged in ok each time, but hopefully I don’t have to sign in every time.
‘Holding down’ the home button on iOS starts Siri. Double clicking the home button shows open apps where can swipe to close them. Thanks, addicts, for all you do!

I had this happen a few days ago. I Ended up having to reinstall the game to be able to log back on. Nothing big now but super stressful at the time.
Well, at least I can rest easy, knowing that it’s not just me. I thought at first that maybe I’d finally pushed the limit too far, by buying a crapload of Jet Engine Bike’s over the past few days. lol
Now, I just need to figure out which e-mail/password combo I used to create my EA account, oh-so-so-long-ago…

I had to resort to the uninstall/reinstall trick. It seems weird that this happened on a Tuesday. Tuesday is usually the day new events come out. Hmmmmmm.
