Baseball! Is there anything more glorious than the game of baseball? (Don’t answer that if you’re going to say no…)
The Marge at the Bat update combines two fun baseball episodes of The Simpsons…”Homer at the Bat” and “Money Bart”. I feel like it’s no coincidence that those are two episodes we’ve been talking about around here lately. (For those who’ve missed it, Safi’s been talking a lot about Baseball on his Monday Morning Math Posts)
But, leave it to EA though to mess up an update about Baseball, with zero new content. Kind of like MLB is messing up the game itself these days with all these stupid new “rules”…but I digress. (hey look, I can be Cranky too 😂)
Anywho, the one thing Marge at the Bat has, that EA didn’t mess up, is a fun questline. The questline is pretty amusing for those that follow baseball, so let’s get to it…

Update: It appears we have our first bug of the new content. Part 1 of the questline is supposed to give you Aristotle (full character) if you don’t already have him, however, it’s not. And you need Aristotle to complete part 1 of the questline (can’t send Burns without him as it’s a joint task). So quite a few players are stuck right away on part 1.
No workaround at the moment, have to wait for it to be patched. You can try to contact EA and see if Customer Support can add him to your inventory, otherwise, we just have to be patient.

So it’s 10am here on the East Coast of the US and that means Marge at the Bat is now live in our games.
As I mentioned a few times, it appears there is no new content with this one. It’s an 8 part questline (that will take approx 32hrs to complete) and a bunch of returning content (some for Free, some for donuts).
You’ll have two weeks to complete the questline and purchase items you’re eyeing, as this content is slated to leave our games on April 24th.

So as I wrote about yesterday, an update hit the files titled “Marge at the Bat”. Upon first glance, this looked like a pretty standard mini-event. Two weeks of content, and not much else. However, as I’ve dug deeper into this I’m not quite sure what to make of it….

Red alert! RED ALERT! This is not a drill. I repeat this is not a drill. We have an update on our hands! All praise TSTO not being dead! 🙌🙌
At first glance, I can tell you this appears to be (another) 2-week mini-event (which means this is an in-game update, so nothing to update in the app store. It should download automatically for you). It’s slated to start TOMORROW, April 10th, at 10am ET (1400 UTC). Again, it’s supposed to start tomorrow. So it’ll download today but nothing will trigger until tomorrow morning.
At second glance I can tell you…holy mother-forking shirtballs this update is called…MARGE AT THE BAT!
For those who have read this site for awhile, watched Addicts Live, or just know me at all, you know Homer at the Bat is my FAVORITE episode. I’m excited to see what’s in store here….
Update: Ok guys a heads up…I’m not 100% sure of this or not..but the Yearbook box MAY be leaving the store. So be prepared if it does.
Also, at first glance, this looks like nothing. I’m hoping EA only released a small portion of the files today. Because right now this is nothing. No new characters, decorations, buildings, or costumes. Just a bunch of stuff coming back. So color me confused….
Update #2: What I see right now is an 8 part questline, ZERO new content. Loads of returning content. And the chance for players to get characters and skins for free if they missed them during Tap Ball or Springfield Jobs (Aristotle only). Other than that I’m not seeing much guys…so I’m very perplexed at the move here.
OK. So…there are a couple of reasons we are posting this. First…as a reminder that long breaks between updates used to be far more the “norm” than the exception. And secondly, to remind people just how far a lull can push someone into doing something he may or may mot regret… like writing this very odd series about the inner workings at EA.
This was written back in April of 2014, (a the old graphic of CrankyOldGuy implies) and was meant entirely for the entertainment of readers who were starved for content from EA and TSTO. It was written around the time that the game saw HUGE upheaval, from a couple of really bone-headed moves by EA and pricing, as well as the introduction of the Family Guy game from Tiny Co.
WARNING… this gets a bit saucy, and would certainly be rated at LEAST PG-13, if not M for mature. So…be forewarned. Jeanene uses all of her talents to get her way in this chapter.

Back in the spring of 2014, when we were doing our first fundraising efforts for what would become Friends of Buyijja, I was not beyond holding the readers hostage for a small donation.
In this case…I was happy to share some “Insider Information” about a very random, and seemingly Non-Canon character, in the form of one, Chester Dupree.
In this case, having friends in high places paid off. Mostly.
As we have now been doing fundraising for Buyijja for almost 5 full years, and the majority of the funds raised have been through generous, unconditional gifts from Tappers, I feel it is time to share this story with everyone!
