Buck Stops Here, Stonecutters Reboot & Haw-Haw Land Episode Tie-In Rundown

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Busy update morning in Springfield, huh?  For those of you outside of the Americas, I’m sure you appreciated the nice morning start to this update (0800 GMT)…but for those of us in the Americas we were fast asleep when this update hit (or at least we should have been).  So many of you are waking up to new content in Springfield…well new and old content.  (plus an episode tie-in coming for Sunday’s episode)  We’ve got a little Shadow Government event going on.  Politics and Stonecutters…what can go wrong?

Before I get into the rundown I want to take a minute to remind ALL of you…this is NOT a political site.  We’ll write about what’s in the game but as far as personal commentary from us or from you…it’s not allowed.  So let’s all keep things respectful…no matter what side of the aisle (or pond) you’re on.  Any comments that cross over that threshold of political opinion will be deleted.  Got it?  So let’s all respect each other…and each other’s political views.

Now on with the show rundown!

There are a lot of layers to this update, so let’s take each one at a time.

First, let’s talk about dates.  Everything is slated to start today (January 3rd), with the exception of a few individual items that will roll out next week.  And the end date is 2 dates.  The Episode Tie-In stuff is slated to leave the 16th & the Buck Stops here is slated to leave the 17th.  However, make sure you follow all in-game timers to be sure you’re not going to miss out on anything.

And now let’s go to the Mini-Event itself…

The Buck Stops Here

This event is triggered by the Well-Scare State Intro quest.  (the dialogue is from Homer counting down to the new year). Complete the first tasks (6s for a variety of Springfielders) & it will launch the Buck Stops Here mini event.

This is your standard mini event.  Follow the questline to unlock a series of prizes.  You’ll also need to do character tasks to earn Executive Orders for the questline,

This event is a mix of politics and Stonecutters…with a lot of amusing dialogue.

Questline to follow for The Buck Stops Here Mini Event is called Well-Scare State.  It’s marked with this icon  in the taskbar.  You can also click the  icon in the top right corner to bring up the prize questline.

Here are the prizes you can win from the questline…

Capital City Plaza Hotel

Captial City Convention Center

Birch Barlow

Animated Task for Quimby

Springfield Hall of Records

Again, it’s a pretty straightforward standard mini-event.  Follow the questline (Well-Scare State) to unlock the prizes.

There are a bunch of premium items with this event as well…

Capital City Capitol Building & Rose Quimby- 150 Donuts, Earns $200, 20xp/24hrs

Preppers Compound & Lloyd- 150 Donuts, Earns $90, 10xp/24hrs

US Capitol Building- 70 Donuts, Earns 6 /4hrs

Stonecutter Tunnel- 60 Donuts, 2.5% Bonus on cash and XP…will generate more tunnels

Returning

Cheering Crowd- 10 Donuts

Rude Crowd- 10 Donuts

Shadow Govt Mystery Box- 60 Donuts, Includes:
Stradivarius Cain
Wayne Slater
James Bont (& Death Table)
Russ Cargill
Adil Hoxha
Femme Fatale
All Seeing Eye
Republican Party HQ
President Lisa
Mastermind Hank Scorpio

And that’s it for the Buck Stops Here Mini-Event.

Now let’s jump to the returning Stonecutters stuff.  Looks like this is just a simple way for EA to get those who missed Stonecutters, some costumes & buildings.  I personally don’t think this means Stonecutters 2…but you never know.

So, I can’t see any of the Stonecutter stuff in my store because my higher level games all have everything & my lower level games are too low to see it. (you have to have Mayor Quimby to start the mini-event) So here’s a list of what the files say…if you see anything different let me know.

Looks like it’s just a bunch of premium stuff in stores to buy….

Daycare Center- $250,000

Stone of Triumph- 75 Donuts, 20 Donut Rebate, NET 55 Donuts

Ark of the Stonecovenant- 85 Donuts, 25 Donut Rebate, NET 60 Donuts

Stonecutter Lodge- 140 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 100 Donuts (I believe this comes with Number 1 as well)

Abandoned Store- 30 Donuts, 10 Donut Rebate, NET 20 Donuts

Stonecutter Table- 120 Donuts, 60 Donut Rebate, NET 60 Donuts (plus you get 10 donuts back by doing this)

Number 22- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 2- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 85- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 29- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 59-50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 50- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 79- 40 Donuts, 30 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 5- 40 Donuts, 30 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 21- 50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 12-50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 14-50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 51- 100 Donuts, 90 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts (FULL Character….GREAT DEAL)

Number 111-50 Donuts, 40 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 314- 40 Donuts, 30 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

Number 67- 40 Donuts, 30 Donut Rebate, NET 10 Donuts

There are a few that are missing from premium purchases…so I’m not sure if you were given those for free or what (since I don’t have access to this stuff in my game).  So just let me know.

Also, a reminder…this is for COSTUMES ONLY.  So if you don’t have the premium character you won’t get it with purchasing the Stonecutter costume.  The Stonecutter costume will sit in your inventory until you purchase the premium character associated with it.

And that’s it for Stonecutters…

Now let’s jump to the Haw-Haw Land episode tie-in….

This is an episode tie-in for Sunday’s episode of The Simpsons.  It starts from Lisa and she’ll be tasked with a 4hr task.

The episode tie-in follows the STEM Vs. Them questline.   It’s marked with this in the taskbar…

With the first part of the questline, you’ll be given a free Life-Sized Visible Man…

At this point you won’t see anything in the store for purchase with this tie-in.  (but you’ll see the icon).  More items will be coming next week, after the episode airs.  So just sit tight.

Episode tie-ins are just short little questlines with 1 free item (usually) and one premium item (which likely will come next week).

Beyond that it’s just complete the questline & wait until next week with this one.  (questline is 4 parts, I’ll have a walkthrough up later today)

And that’s it for now with the Haw-Haw Land episode tie-in!

And that, my friends, completes everything with today’s update.

Remember this is an IN-GAME UPDATE.  Which means there’s NOTHING to download from the app store.  So you’ll still see the Christmas Splash Screen with this.

What are your thoughts on the mini-event, tie-in & Stonecutters stuff?  Anything you’re planning to purchase?  Liking the dialogue so far?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Shall we finish Lisa’s Visible Man tasks first or use her for the Apocalypse event? What makes more sense?

    • With only the 5 freemium so far, tasks in multiples of 50 and Lisa having cash event tasks I figured concentrate on the mini event through the day and send Lisa off in between for the other.
I did part 1 of the Visible man to see what’s what, and also sent Lisa doing part 2 overnight.
The mini event currency won’t carry over to the next set of tasks so for round 2 to earn 250 I’ve got 40 from overnight as Lisa did her thing, 40 more in a couple of hours when Lisa is free from organising for cash makes 80.
If I complete Lisa’s tasks and send her off for an hour recycling then I’ll have 3 more rounds of 40 making 200 and send all 5 to complete getting the convention centre.
Then it’s this mini event all the way, unless there is a follow up to the tie-in after Sunday.

  2. Are all the Stonecutter skins premium skins? I had assumed they were, but I notice the Skinner skin I already have isn’t premium.

  3. I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but the stonecutter costume for krusty, skinner and Kent brockman were given for free and they come with one 4-hour quest each as far as I’m aware.

  4. I couldn’t find Homer’s Stonecutter skin. Will it show up later? I bought the Stonecutter Lodge, got #1, but didn’t get Homer’s skin.

    • I just bought the lodge and got Number 1 and a pop-up for homer’s skin. He’s wandering around my town now “being the chosen one”

  7. Well I went from 515 to 265 donuts in a blink. And all I got where the stonecutters characters and skins (even Jasper’s, though I don’t yet have him. Figured for 10 donuts I could store it until I do just to get everything I could). I missed out on that event, wasn’t playing yet. Are the table and stone of triumph worth getting?

    Like

    • Yes. Best tasks in the game, IMO.

      Like

      • Noted 🙂 I’ll give my donuts a few days to build back up a bit before I get either of them, probably. I had a daily challenge that paid out 3 donuts today, yay. The stuff all leaves at least a week from now.

    • Table is good, with a fun visual task. Stone…it has Homer’s classic task, but otherwise just a rock. I’d get it though, if I didn’t already have it.

      • The only Stonecutters stuff I had before last night was Skinner’s free skin, so I’m definitely excited to have gotten as much as I did in one go. I’ll probably end up grabbing them after I give my donuts a few days to rebound a tiny bit (I farm, but it’s on a smallish scale, my bonus is 212.). Because even if it is just a stone when Homer’s not using it… it is a truly classic moment when he is.

  11. Super happy to get a crack at the Stonecutters…and finally having Birch Barlow in game will be a hoot. But do buildings like the Capital City hotel and convention center bother anyone else? Their names say it all…they are in Capital City, not Springfield…

    Like

    • I personally don’t mind them. We have several items from Cypress Creek, Shelbyville, and other cities in town, so why not Capital City.

      • That’s cool, everyone has their own design philosophy. I just wondered if anyone shared mine. I stopped watching The Simpsons around season 11, so anything after that or anything like Mt. Fuji will end up in my storage 9 times out of 10. And really useful things like Santa or Buddha I just write off in my mind as “Well, that’s just a guy who *thinks* he’s Santa”, etc…

    • I’m with you; it is unusually bothersome. I have an ‘international cities’ area as well as assorted Event areas – not to mention all the random and delightful elements this game possesses – so I shouldn’t be bothered, but a Capital City area inside my Springfield just doesn’t seem right. I need distance!

      • Maybe some reformatting of your town would ease your mind. Put your Capital City stuff on the other side of the mountains.

  14. At long last I have a chance to catch up with getting the Stonecutters item. I’d missed out getting them both times they’ve previously made an appearance. I’m not sure if they will feature all of the items they previously had, but I can now make a feature of them in my town. They seem to fit in quite nicely next to the 2017 Halloween event items. Thanks EA

  15. I started playing in the spring of 2014, so the Stonecutters event was the last one I wasn’t able to complete. As soon as I got home from work I logged in and bought No. 51 and the skins for Hibbert, Smithers, and Frink. Finally, my stonecutters are complete, and for the low, low price of 40 donuts!

Now, do I buy the table? Is it worth it for that one task? Decisions, decisions.

    • I’m not regretting it. Even when Krusty was all by himself, it was worth the fun feeling while I watched him swing his flask, looking so drunk and happy. Now I have the Martian and the police chief there also and they each seem to earn 150 XP for that task, which for me is multiplied by 32 because of the collider and my bonus percentage. I only got the police chief’s robe because of that table task and passed on the other 10 donut ones.

I just bought the lodge and am hoping to add Homer to the table once his robe is unlocked. I put the table right by my KEM garden so I won’t miss it while harvesting donuts. Personally, I need all the giggles I can get…

  17. A good wee event and another fantastic post, thanks Alissa. In New Zealand we got the update at 9pm local time, which meant we got to start it but not make a lot of progress.
I’m torn on how to set up my Capital City (time to dig out the Goofball from storage!) so that it’s sufficiently “far” from Springfield. With Cypress Creek, there’s only two strips of land between so I’ll probably go with something similar but if anyone has other ideas I’d appreciate the inspiration! It almost lends itself to a Krustyland-type other dimension…

  18. I apologize if anybody’s asked the question (and I can’t believe I didn’t see it asked, but I’m on my phone and perhaps just missed the comment), but since this is a mini-event, it’s unlikely new premium characters will be unveiled next week, correct? There’s a certain politician that’s been a character on the show before and I’ve wondered whether they’d get him into the game for about a year. If they’re ever going to do it, this would be the obvious time to do it, especially because they brought back President Lisa for people who missed it last time.

I am not usually big on the random box prices but I think I am going to try the Shadow Govt Mystery Box. I only have 4 prices, I really wanted Russ Cargill and Adil Hoxha but could get them at the time they came out. I would be OK with Femme Fatale for 60. I don’t really want the All Seeing Eye but 3 in 4 chances, I think I will take those odds.

  25. I bought Number 1 and in order to begin his quest line (contol the Latte market), it requires “Fewer Lattes”.?? Any clue on what’s required?

    Liked by 1 person

    • You have more than the maximum allowed. By a Springfield Heights item that needs coffee to get you under the cap

      Liked by 1 person

    • Carmen (gameid5000)

#1’s task awards lattes (Springfield Heights currency from the Coffee Shop). If the Coffee Shop is a max capacity, you, as Jon noted, need to spend some lattes to allow #1’s task to run. It doesn’t allow you to go over the limit like some of the other latte generating tasks.

    • Your coffee shop is full, so you need to buy some stuff with lattes to make room for him to make more.

  28. Seeing as Stonecutters was before my time and Alissa has an empty store I’ve done a montage of all except the mystery box
There’s no No67 (yet ?) here and the rest except free Nos 36, 600 and 66 seem to have been covered at a glance.
You will probably need to follow the link and zoom unless you’ve got a pretty big screen.

Before I get to that, another questline started that may be new or returning and doesn’t seem to have a deadline so I’m ignoring it for now unless I read something that says I need to get a move on.
It starts with Place (and tap) the Visible Man (free) and a 4hr Lisa task to explain STEM, then these 4hr jobs I’ve ignored…

Any advice / info on this ??

    And that montage…

  30. Alissa,

As usual, thanks for the event write-up. It’s not said enough how much you and the rest of the Addicts’ tireless devotion to this game and the efforts you put in, are so greatly appreciated!

I started playing TSTO the day after the first Stonecutters Event, so I missed out on all those originally (07/05/14). Over the years they occasionally re-released some of the items in sales or other mini-events, and I got some of the items then. Usually free, I think, but I did premium purchase a few things (mainly full characters like Number 1 and 51), but didn’t get all the costumes, because they were always 50 or so donuts each, which seemed excessive to me. Today, though, at net cost of 10D, I finally bought the farm. Er, Lodge. Yup, I have finally completed all my Stonecutter Character groups. Yay, me!
