Tree House of Horror XXIX – Act One Calendar and Math You Need to Get It All

Whoooohooooo!
The wait is over and now we are back to the grinding!

This early in a major event, there is no way to know if EA has made any huge changes or not…like how many items we are going to be allowed to place before we hit the limits again…or how much land they’ll give us to place the HUGE list of stuff we see coming down the pike. But, you CAN bet that there will be a lot of grinding.

And, if you WANT IT ALL you are going to have to drop some donuts (purchased or farmed) over the next six weeks (yes, this one is “shorter” than a few others we have had).

And…yes…because so many of you complained about the “Do It Yourself” Calendar I did at the end of the last event (which some of you also loved) I am willing to compromise, and combine the “Artistic Freedom” of the big calendar, and the “convenient simplicity” of the digital calendar…into one calendar of function and beauty.

Here is that calendar, and all of the numbers you need to stay on track with the main prize track!

Yes…doing a spreadsheet calendar is way faster than doing a regular “Gregorian” calendar.  But let’s face it…Pope Gregory had a heck of a lot more time on his hands back in 1582 than I do today.  I mean, what did a Pope have to do back then? The Bible was already pretty much put together by a handful of Popes, thanks to the good work of St. Jerome in 400 AD.  And the Spanish Inquisition had been over for almost 50 years.  So, if you are a Pope, and want to make a real change in how you keep time…Pope Gregory had the time to do it right!

Want to know more about the origin of the Gregorian Calendar?  CLICK HERE to find out Six Things You May Not Know About The Gregorian Calendar!  It’s fascinating stuff!!

Oh. Wait…you don’t care about history? You JUST WANT THE NUMBERS??

OK… then click the graphic below for a full-size  version of the ACT I calendar from the Treehouse of Horror XXIX.  And yes…those are Roman numerals…which is part of the very thing that Pope Gregory was trying to change!

As usual…the numbers seem daunting. But, I am going to take a wild guess, that if you log on every 4 hours, at least 4 times a day, you are going to be just fine.

This event may not be entirely “Simpsons Canon,” but I actually think it looks fun!  Give me old school scary over the silly slasher/super-hero/Potteresque stuff of today any day!

Have fun!  It’s all about finding the time to grind… and you WILL!

Stay safe. Don’t tap and drive. And thank the guy who invented the Digital Spread Sheet (Dan Brickland). In my world, whipping out the chart in Excel, instead of going the way of Pope Gregory is a winner every time!  And NO Scissors Required!

Time saved…allows for more time grinding. Right?

Luckily I was able to install the update early, then be ready when it went live. Normally I’d argue with the above statement for Act 1,as even in the best of circumstances (like the Ducks having Herbert as their QB) I feel like I’m always playing from behind, and need to spend donuts on a Brooks-James to help me get ahead. But after looking at the calendar, I realize I’m doing just fine.

Also, if you’ve never been to Papa’s Soul Food Kitchen, you owe it to yourself. And I hear that if it’s super busy, you can have some beers at Sam Bond’s Garage while you wait for your table…

  2. Both my Flanders Family Tome, curse and total bonuses are at 0%. How to I get that up? Sorry if it’s already been discussed.

    • Buy crafting stuff and place it in the bonus area around the dig site…the amount of bonus added depends on the item you craft.. Also some of the prize items (summoning circle) add a percent when placed in the bonus area.🎃

Thank you for the lovely Timeline, Patric.
Knowing that I am slightly ahead of the game did make my morning coffee taste sweeter. 😉
    Got a query, though.
If I recall correctly, in past THOH events Springfield usually gets a little bit more Spooky looking than mine is, now.
All I have is a couple of sad leaves drifting about, algae green water, and Halloween Eagles cawing.
No music, no sense of impending doom, just water that needs a good filtering, in a sunlit Springfield.
Is this what is supposed to be, or is it just me?
    Just curious.

  4. A Gregorian thanks for Patric 👍

Yes, this Halloween Event is a Grind Fest (or not, if you use Sprinkles wisely and I’m easily 2 Days ahead), but – regardless of lags / glitches – it’s better then last year (for me) and I’m loving some of the Premiums (especially if they help earn Event Currency, Craft Currency, Pickaxes). 🎃

I just may begin Tapping over the weekend in October (Act 1 Prizes look great, Daily Challenges reward 4000 Vampire Fangs, so think of that as a nice boost) 😀

  5. Many thanks for the calendar. I appear to be ahead, in part due to holding back two daily activities which gave me an 8000 boost and for once a good bonus for visiting neighbours. Evil Homer is also generating currency every few minutes.

  6. Thank you for the list/calendar, Patric. Hey everyone– check out the TSTO Addicts Halloween banner– pretty cool! Really like Safi’s mummy costume and am slightly freaked out with Patric’s zombie face.

  7. I’m amazed that i’m already that far ahead. As it goes on, this event will be a piece of cake. Only the normal crafting seems to go very slow.
Also a lot of my neighbours seem to have quit the game, i have to do a check and make some room for new ones

    • Keep in mind that the final day you’ll only have part of the day to finish up, so ideally you really would want to be a day ahead of the schedule to ensure getting the final prize.

  8. Sad that I didn’t get my Mayan calendar version, but I’m sure it would have just said “DOES NOT COMPUTE – WORLD HAS ENDED ACCORDING TO THE MAYANS.”

  9. I always appreciate the calendar – it’s the main reason I frequent this site. This list style has never made sense to my visual minded brain. I’m not ungrateful for all you do, but please consider doing the calendar version again – I realize it’s time consuming, but it’s loved by many. In the meantime, I’ll try to decipher the list style, but it causes me a lot of heartache trying to convert it visually. Thank you for all you do.

    • I agree with you. My brain has a much easier time computing the gregorian calendar style. But I’ll take what i can get.

I just saved the image of the Calendar Patric created, then wirelessly sent it to the printer here at work (having a printed copy to look at as a whole page encourages me to enjoy Tapping without straining through these bifocals)👍

  10. I strongly prefer this calendar format. Thank you for putting it together!

  11. That’s very beautiful, Patric, and I appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. However, it’s not a calendar, it’s a list. 🙂

  12. Thanks Patric! It’s Thursday night here in Oz and I’ve got the Transylvania sign and the archway, so I’m feeling pretty good about things for once. I usually get so far behind so quickly!

I actually came to the blog today hoping to see if I was or wasn’t the only one experiencing the incredible laaaag since the update hit, and am glad to see it isn’t just me (I would say pleasantly surprised, but hey, that’s not true, because I don’t actually WANT anyone to have lag!) it’s making collecting from buildings unbearable, which is making KEM farming a real chore. I’ve decided to skip farming for tonight (it’s just after midnight here now so technically I guess it’s Friday now) and hope they’ve put out a patch by morning. Wishful thinking, hey? Hahaha 😂

  13. Any word if the item limit was increased with this update?

  14. Long long long time player about to quit. These bugs are too much.

  15. Thank you good sir

  16. Omg took you long enough I mean what 22, 23 hours after the event started? I’m just teasing cause I saw you tell someone to chill out yesterday. But thanks to everyone involved in this website you guys and gals are awesome to take the time to write these postings, and I just wanted to say thank-you.

    • Well…not to put too fine a point on it. I had it done yesterday morning…but Alissa has a method of when to post. I don’t question it…at all. She is the keeper of time…..I am just the humble slave to it’s recording.

      And besides… time is relative.

The tag line to a very old joke:
      “Why me, Lord?”

      “Some people annoy me!”

So never, EVER ask Sir Patric, “What took yo so long?”
(Not if you you might be ‘annoyed’ by his truthful reply)
      😇

  17. Thanks for the calendar Patrick! It’s always helpful to have a reference on where I stand in the game.
Also thanks for the history tidbit, it is usually interesting to see changes to what people take for granted 10 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago, or even 1,000 years ago.
    Have a fantastic day folks!
Just a note about getting it all: A couple months ago I had an issue on my game and could not log on for almost two months. While badgering EA to finally get the issue fixed I started a second “B” game. On this second game I am only using donuts earned through activities like leveling up. As of this morning I have gotten the Transylvania sign in both my A and B games without using donuts. Everyone who logs on four times a day should get this no problem and should be able to finish at least this at with some time to spare. Even with the host of bugs that EA has shipped with the event.
    Good luck everyone!!

    • Exactly!!!! It always feels daunting the first day, when you see the numbers. But, I too have already earned the sign. Just have to figure out where to place it. Transylvania is looking pretty lean right now.

      • Lots of castles to choose from…pick any one and drop the sign for now…you can always move it after you score a couple hovels and a summoning circle or two (always need those backup summoning circles for emergencies). By the way…the spooky gorge is awesome and makes a great base to build transy world around. A moat, a few bats, and voila!…a lair any vampire couple would be proud to call home🧛‍♀️🧛‍♂️👌😆.

  18. Thanks Patric. As always you’re the best. Well at least 2nd best behind Alissa. Now just waiting for EA to release to bug fixes.

  19. Welcome back calendar. I’ve missed you. Strangely familiar yet different. At least it stops our relationship from getting stale. Cool banner too btw…..can’t type more, gotta get my grind on……💜X

  20. Please go back to the big calendar (even produce and post one here!) – I save these for future reference and love the look of a REAL calendar!

  21. that is a BEAUTIFUL calendar!

  22. Holy crud the iOS version of this Halloween Tapped Out is full of bugs! I get lock ups constantly and have to force close it often. Today I had the daily task of tapping on people in other towns and I went to a few and even force closed/re-opened it and I could not tap on any char in any other town. SO BAD. EA, did you even BETA test this? Sheesh

    • Same on android too, lags when you click out buildings etc, then freezes on sending characters on tasks

    • Lee Stafford

Unfortunately, these problems are also happening for those of us with an Android device (with 4 gigs of RAM).

It’s possible we may be graced with a patch update from EA (usually happens when enough people complain in the Official Facebook).

Just know you are not the only one having to force close at times (hoping you still have fun Tapping)👍

  23. Thanks for your dedication lol😁

  24. After having started with the new event I have an issue of collecting building’s money. When I tap on a house I have to wait until all the money disappear otherwise I can’t move the screen. Any solution for that please?

    • I have the same problem

    • I am getting the same issues and I am on Android.

    • Well. Some buddies having the same problem. It is very annoying but at least I know it is not me now. I nearly break my tablet. I think we will have to support this till the event ends. Hoping to have a fixing thank you for answers. Have a good tapping.

  25. Since the new update my game has been very laggy. My town is densely populated with buildings so if tap one that sets off a bunch, the game won’t let me scroll. It waits for all the money to be collected first. This also happens when tapping characters. In addition if I click on the finished character in the left hand corner of the screen, it will only give me money for that character, not whatever else is in my tap radius

    • I have the same behavior, so I stopped sending people on tasks. Just takes too long to collect everything.

And in my little KEM farm, I can clear a few rows, the game stops, collects the XP/$, and then I’ll get 2 or 3 bonus donut popups in a row.

      Maybe a fix is imminent…

  26. Thank you for the extra link, that part about the Georgian calandar was so interesting! I love stuff like that, a little bit of history about stuff we take for granted 😊
Also, I don’t want you to feel unappreciated, I have OCD (which is NOT as cute/quirky as tv sitcoms make it look!) and your calendars are honestly a HUGE help to me. If I don’t have my game scheduled and planned out (and this game is the only thing I CAN plan out/schedule in my life) I have a really hard time not spinning out, and your calendars are like a soothing balm to my panicked-out brain.
    Thank you grumpy man!

  27. Andy Southworth

Nice one Patric! Let’s keep it simple – Keep calm and Tap on!

  28. I appreciate the effort you put into this but I am going to miss the traditional visual calendar.

  29. Thanks Patric, you’re awesome 😄 I like this event a lot too!
