Yearbook Mystery Box

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Wowsers the latest mini-event to hit Springfield brought us the ultimate Mystery Box!  With over 700 items (737 at my count), the Yearbook Mystery Box is the largest single Mystery Box to ever hit our pocket-sized towns.

This isn’t your ordinary Mystery Box.  No, this is a premium box full of almost every limited-time (and not so limited-time) premium item and prize to ever hit Springfield.  It’s pretty insane.

Because this box is different than a standard Mystery Box I’m going to treat this post different than the standard Mystery Box post.  For starters, this is going up shortly after the event hit our games because I know this is the info you’re all really wanted to know.  And I’m going to breakdown what’s inside, as well as give you some tips to get what you really want in Springfield.  So let’s take a look…

Update:  Since the writing of this post the Mystery Box can be found in the Premium Section of your Store.  Just click the Homer Buddha Icon….

This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…30 donuts is a steal for this stuff!

And…because there are items that are not unique in Springfield, everyone will see a Mystery Box in their game.

At the premise, this is like your basic Mystery Box.  Spend 30 donuts and have a shot at a variety of premium characters, skins, decorations, and buildings from events of the past!  30 Donuts is equal to or less than the initial value for each item (unless they were initially prizes, in that case, they were originally free)

What’s different about this box is it only shows 5 items at a time.  Meaning you have a 20% chance to get one of the items 5 items you see in your box at any given time.

How do you see new items appear?  Hit the Blue Refresh Button…

and your 5 Mystery Box Prizes will change to show 5 different prizes…

(Not that I need to explain but, yes, these are screenshots from two different games.  I initially was in my main Springfield for the first screenshot.  Then jump to my lower level game to check out the returning content and just took a MB screenshot from there)

So the best strategy for the Mystery Box is to refresh your box until you see 5 items you like and/or want.  Then go for it.  Or at the very least, make sure there’s something you want in that group of 5 before trying.

It’s also important to note, yes there’s the Donut Truck, Donut Boat and Donut store in the box.  THEY DO NOT AWARD FREE DONUTS.  They’re just decorations/buildings from previous Donut Days.  There are NO FREE Donuts in this box.

Also, yes you may have screens that only show 1 or two items.

And, because there are some items that are not unique (like the Whale) your box shouldn’t disappear from your game..even if you think you have everything.  At least not until the mini-event ends.

Yearbook Mystery Box Leaves Games on March 26th
(on 3/14 an app store update was released, Classless reunion Patch 1, that removed the timer from the game box. FWIW there never was an official end date written in the files for the Box (before or after the patch).  So no telling if this will stick around after the 26th or not.

And now, here’s what you can win…

Listen, there are 737 items.  I’m not doing my normal Mystery Box Breakdown.  I’ve got a full list in Alphabetical Order of what’s in the box, and (if available) i’ve linked it to the SIB post or prize post so you can see more details.  If you want to know what it is/does or how much it originally cost click that link.

Listwise, it appears in the files with other names and in some case without indicating characters coming with them (if they do).  I tried to go from memory to indicate characters, but I know I missed a bunch.  If it came with a character before it’ll come with it again. Go by the pictures you see in the box, not my list.  My list is just so you know every possible item available.

30 donuts is a fantastic steal for a lot of these items.

And that’s it my friends!  The details on the Ballot Box Mystery Box….

What are your thoughts on the Mystery Box? Have you tried it yet? What have you won so far? What do you hope to get? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I got blackbeard without the ship and now his quest line is stuck…reading the SIB comments hinted at the need for the ship, but I dont have it in my inventory (at least I don’t think, I searched 4 times for it and all variations of the name I could think of). Is the ship in the yearbook separate from blackbeard? Any insight would be appreciated!

    • I am in the same “boat”. Bought blackbeard from the box but no ghost ship, and now I am stuck on his quest. I would happily buy the ship if it were offered!

      • I emailed EA…I bet they’re swamped right now but I’ll post again here if I hear a response

        • I heard back (!) But they just gave me a bunch of steps to synch my device, update my game, etc. They asked for a screenshot of the problem so I sent one, and again asked for the ship to be offered for purchase. Not much progress but contact has been made!

          • And the unexciting conclusion is that they offered to roll back my game which I declined. I’m hoping EA figures out this issue and offers the ship for sale. Until then, I’ll have an uncompleted task.

  2. Does anyone know if the Jay G mansion bundle comes with the pool? I missed that one when it came through the first time and I love the look of the mansion plus pool, but from the thumbnail in the box it’s not clear if the pool is included.

  3. thank you very much for publishing the complete list of the yearbook mystery box: now, i know for sure there is no Sunken Temple to be found there, however hard i’m hitting the refresh button😀

  4. Is the northern Irish leprechaun with banner supposed to be unique? I was awarded 1 in a box, played again and was awarded another combo, then the option dissapeared from the box. Just wondering if this is supposed to do that before I contact EA? I definitely didn’t want a second banner especially considering it gives a measly. 25% bonus. Thanks!

  5. Wow that was some undertake to list it all up. Great job 👍🏻
And as for game ending…. Just try to add up all the full premium item costs here and compare it to prices of donuts and see how much money it would cost you to get it all. That’s right, insane amount. This is just a catch up/donut sink mechanics here by EA. Say thanks and grab everything you like.

  6. I’m a little late to the party so forgive me if this was already discussed, but with a “firesale” of this magnitude, does anyone else see this as a preemptive “end of days” to our beloved game?

      • Thanks…appreciate the work you’ve done. Wasn’t trying to be a jerk, but never seen a “sale” of this magnitude and have been playing since day 1. While I agree black friday did offer a lot of items, it wasn’t close to the 700 or so being offered now, which is why it struck me the way it did. Was also just starting some dialog but whatevs…happy tapping. And I love the sale, don’t get me wrong; just hit me as super odd.

        • Black Friday was about half the content. But don’t discount the fact that a lot of these are vault items as well, which weren’t typically in black friday boxes.

Didn’t think you were a jerk. I’ve just heard “this game is ending” for 6 years, it’s still here lol, In particular, I’ve heard over and over again, “this means the end of the game” in relation to the box. If the game was ending the option to purchase donuts for cash would be disabled. You also would receive notice well in advance.

I’ve said it about a million times now, and I’m sure I’ll say it a million more. As long as the show is on the air this game will continue to exist. Once the show goes off the air then all bets are off.

          • Also the game just got a couple of different big media mentions (like Forbes big) as being the one mobile game to out do all all mobile media games. That probably brought some more new players to the table.

  7. I tried out the Mystery Box two more times yesterday and got the following:

    – The 3 Tourists
    – Booberella (plus her Cave skin)
    – Witch THoH 2018 (good thing I never paid real money for this character)
    – Springfield Gorge/Daredevil Bart combo
    – Prairie Maggie (Premium skin for Maggie)
    – Lyla/Peak Inn
    – King Winter
    – Cool Brown House (meh, there’s more than enough skins for Homer)
    – Chaz Guevara (finally Sarah Wiggum, Sexy Pirate, Disapproving Squirrel, and Moe’s sister have a 8 hr task that DOESN’T require another character! The Parson is still out of luck though.)

So much to choose from. Right now, I’m considering getting the Ice Palace (since I already have Martin’s Ice outfit) and the teleports. Disappointed that the 2 barflies (Sam & Larry) aren’t included in the mystery box as I wanted them.

On a side note, I noticed that Young Marge can attend the She-She Lounge but Young Homer can’t. The same was true for Adil and Lewis originally (though they changed it for Lewis). Awkward. Also some of the adults (like the Yakuza Boss, Meathook, Howard K Duff, and the Parson to name a few) can’t go to the Chaz Guevara. It seems that EA is forgetting that these characters exist.

  8. I had to reinstall Tapped Out just because of this, as I had over 800 farmed doughnuts and I must say I am happy with the haul I got. I managed to score quite a few usually overly expensive characters/buildings combos, like Sleep Easy and Duff Brewery among other stuff.

  9. Are there any items with hidden value?

What I mean by this is drive in theater awards you a full character after doing the quest, zombie sandwich makes your characters into zombies, nightmare pile trick or treats, little Lisa recycling plant generates blueprints etc but you wouldn’t know that just by looking at the item briefly. I’m just wondering if I’m skipping over anything awesome that I wouldn’t give a second thought to unless I knew

  10. First off, thanks so much Alissa for putting together that huge list! I think this box is the best one offered so far, and I love the fact that you can keep refreshing until you get a combo that’s more in line with what you want. I spent 330 donuts, and for that I received Sophie krustofski, Sarah wiggum, Ronald Reagan, quick and fresh, old faithless, Mary and the Springfield opry, gingerbread house, duff gardens, cypress creek elementary, big butt skinner balloon, and the green witch. That’s a great haul for the price, considering how much all those items cost originally. And now I finally have Sophie and Sarah, and Mary, all characters I’ve wanted for quite a while but just couldn’t afford to spend so many donuts on. Excellent deal!

  11. Hmm have been looking and refreshing and have yet to see witch Marge and Calderon.

Hmmm will have to keep looking and refreshing I guess

Been wanting witch Marge forever lol

  12. i got the Springfeild sign in 3 trys

  13. Alissa will you finally buy a whale now it’s so darned cheap? 😉

    • Nope. I still refuse to get the damn whale. Either of them. It’s the principle of it. I can be quite stubborn on things like this. I’ve also never seen Titanic because I thought it was overrated. 🤷‍♀️ stubborn Italian…

      Liked by 4 people

      • My unwanted 2 cents: Seems like you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. If the principle was the whales were too high in price the first time, isn’t this EA’s way to make amends? It reminds me of Patric’s initial refusal to KEM farm, you are just hurting yourselves.

        • lol i don’t need EA to make amends, even if it was free I wouldn’t want it. There are loads of things i don’t want in Springfield because I thought they weren’t priced accordingly when they first dropped and I still don’t want them now, even at 30 donuts. All I wanted was the Krusty Monorail station because now that K-Land is in Springfield I have a purpose for it. In order to get that I also got stuff I didn’t want before and I don’t want now. That stuff is sitting in my inventory.

But you think I’m hurting myself because I won’t buy a whale with a 7% bonus? You think 7% of a bonus is going to make or break me? Come on. I don’t KEM farm, in fact, I really don’t farm at all. I did it once because I was pissed at EA over the boatload of donuts deal and when I did it it was with Blood Mobiles. (and only farmed enough to equal a boatload of donuts) I get my donuts the old fashioned way, by buying them. My Bonus % is right around 780% and I’m just fine with that. Call me dumb or whatever you want, but it’s my choice to do that…just like it’s your choice to farm. There is no right or wrong way to play the game.

          • I like your answer and I must say I am surprised you have 780% without farming. But I wasn’t saying get the whale because it has 7%. Get it because it is a whale. But I guess you don’t like whales or don’t want one in your ocean. — As a side note, I guess I think this game will last forever. I would get everything even it I put it in storage. I imagine handing over my game(s) like a Lego set. You never know what the next person might like. 🙂

          • Never
            Insult Mama Bear
(Tomorrow completes 37 years of wedded bliss, although, I will admit, some days are more blissful than others

  14. This looks brilliant, I opened the yearbook followed instructions, I got the witch, whale, few other bits, but every time I try to open the book now it won’t, just clicks off back to main game…? Anyone else experiencing this..

  15. I refreshed, refreshed refreshed until I saw Barney who I have been holding out on purchasing as I am only recently a newbie kem farmer with only earning about 12 donuts a day with my collider on. First try I lucked out, now to cross my fingers as I try again in a couple days for another of the TONs of items and characters I am missing

  16. I don’t have any items left and no more mystery box. It’s on the screen but then when I tap to view the items, it disappears and goes back to my Springfield.

  17. Why u infuriate me so EA?! Two of the characters I got (Jimbo and Blackbeard) came with quests I can’t complete for one reason or another. Jimbo popped two, one ‘normal’ and one that requires Ruth to complete. Blackbeard can’t even get past the opening quest step due to a severe lacking of his ghost ship!

Is it so hard to code a catch into the game which prevents quests from firing if an item/items or characters aren’t owned?

  18. This message is for all of the players on this who are so sure that the game is ending, which, in my opinion, it is not ending.

Regardless of what happens with Disney’s involvement with “The Simpsons” TV Show…. THE GAME IS NOT ENDING UNTIL E.A. SPECIFICALLY SAYS THAT THE GAME IS ENDING!!!!! …. So stop worrying about it, and enjoy the game while it lasts.

Sorry, Alissa, for raising my voice. It just seems to me that nobody is listening about the fate of TSTO because of so called “signs”. If you haven’t already done so, I think that a special blog post should be done to address the fears of all of the pessimistic players who think that the game is ending just because EA decides to do something unexpected (most likely in attempt satisfy their customers, as well as bring in new players).

    • I’ve been hearing that the game is ending for the last 6 years.

      • Well, I’m not surprised, but one would think that, after 6 years of continuous development of the game, all of the pessimistic “end is near” players would have gotten the hint by now that the game is not ending any time soon until EA specifically announces it. Although, it is a bit disconcerting that EA keeps us in the dark about what’s going on behind the scenes regarding the development of the game, namely when they decide to throw something unexpected at us (like this Yearbook Mystery Box), or when they decide to take break in between updates, and what EA’s motives are for doing these unpredictable things.

  19. Good start from yours truly with the box plundering.
Picked up Guy Incognito, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Lucille Botzcowski and the Recycling Plant along with some useless tat.

EA may be doing some targeted bracketing, but seem to be playing it straight on draws – based upon my limited data. Got a high value target on second roll. Had one bracket where both the two remaining items were low value.

Must be off – almost time to go and tend me farm. Gonna be a busy season. I feel it in me bones 🙂

  20. This mystery box is faaaantastic!!! Thank you so much for this list!! I have probably done 14 boxes and I’m very happy. Great deal thanks EA. I haven’t been playing that long, so maybe I’m missing something but why do so many people think this game is ending? I personally pay really money to play and I farm a few donuts leveling up nicely. This game has to making the company money? guess I’m just curious why I keep reading that every time we get new content. I personally hope this game goes on for years!

  21. This mystery box was just made permanent with a minor patch update. Game over? Remeber Disney takes over on 3/20

  22. Miguel Fernandez

That list really IS insane. Thanks for all the effort and this great post.

  23. With 18 remaining items I am just getting displayed 2 items per refresh.
    But more importantly:
The time I bought the fireworks barge it switched form 3 to 2 items. Before that, I had the fireworks barge in any 3 item offer after a refresh. I refesehd a couple of times, and the barge was always in.

So I think this highly points out, that we have certain itam categories. Once you have all the items in a category, the category itself will disappear from the list, meaning that you don’t have 5 items that are offered, but 4, etc…

    • Likely. And it is equally likely that once you purchase something, it holds the rest in cache until you shut the game down all of the way. But…any way you slice it…if you are down to 2/3 items per refresh…you have a LOT of the stuff being offered.

    • It happened the same to me with the 3-eyed whale (once picked, it went from 5 to 4) and the irish leprechaun (once picked, it went from 4 to 3).

  24. 5 pulls…Chez Guevara and then Sara Wiggum off 1 set of 5.
Later, Bad Dream House & Raven then I hit refresh by accident and lost my 1:4 shot at the Mayan Bundle.
I later snagged the Mayan Bundle and then refreshed and got Sherri & Terri.

There’s more I might shoot for, but so far I’m happy.

  25. Just a quick question.. does the line up change like a slot machine or gets shuffled around at all?

  26. I had most of the items. Still some left of course. I bought the remaining couple of characters (mostly some skins and minor NPC). Hence no characters are available anymore. I don’t know if it has an influence on what I discodered:

I had 46 items left: the offer dropped from 5 items to 4 items to choose from
At 38 items the offer dropped from 4 items to 3 items.

So at the moment any time when I tap to refresh the offer it is just 3 items to choose from.

This might be interesting for some of you guys.

  27. I opened the mystery yearbook box tab to find The Witch (who was only available with a $20 donut purchase a while ago) and was pretty excited about that! I never thought they would offer a premium paid character like that for donuts but I got her! Very cool

  28. I got a lot of new stuff but really want the Ice Palace, I’ve refreshed dozens of times and don’t see it come up. I do have Martin’s costume, could that be preventing me from getting it in this box? I somehow remember this happening for the Christmas event too….

    • I haven’t seen the Ice Palace either. Is it a glitch as to why it’s not showing up? I also really wanted Lord Montymort. I missed him by logging in 15 minutes after the event ended.

  29. Alissa, the time it took and the detail of this post is above and beyond the call of duty. You are truly amazing. Thanks so much for your effort. Anyone in the future who complains about a post should just be responded to with a link to this one. Bravo!
