The Real Housewives Of Springfield: Luann Van Houten

Welcome Addicts to a new addition to our posts. In this little game of ours, we tend to forget those characters that are few and far between. We get so involved in the game, so into the latest events…that we sometimes forget to pay attention to the little things. The little details that make the Springfield world go around. The thing that seems to be really lacking/missing from Springfield.

What exactly is it I am going on about? What is so terribly important to the game that would draw such attention. WOMEN OF COURSE! To be a bit more specific, The Real Housewives of Springfield (and maybe a mistress or 3. Gotta have the drama aspect in any series, right?).

So keep your eyes on our blog as we take you on a new journey into the lives of each of the women currently and NOT currently available in the game.

This week we’re getting a little spicy and talking about an feisty Italian-American who’s got a bit of a stubborn, independent, wild streak in her…no no no this isn’t the latest episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey.  I promise you we’re keeping it in Springfield and talking about the one, the only Luann Van Houten.
(Before I go further I feel it’s important to note that I am both from New Jersey AND Italian-American…so I’ve got a fairly “unique” perspective on this)

Ah Luann…the fights, the divorce, the men…the many many men, the affairs, the remarriage, lost at sea and the many “interesting” recreational activities (Key Party anyone?)… is there anyone in Springfield more fit for Reality TV than Luann Van Houten?  Let’s take a closer look at this blue-haired feisty Italian, shall we?

Luann 1

Luann comes to us in TSTO via Level 37, as a premium character (for 150 donuts…with the Cracker Factory), but she arrived in Springfield via Shelbyville as a small child.  Ah, so maybe it’s her Shelbyville roots that make her a prime Reality TV candidate?  While we first meet Luann early in The Simpsons (Season 3, E5, “Homer Defined”), it’s not until Season 8 and her divorce from Kirk where we start to see her character develop a little more, and that feisty side make it’s first appearance.

Season 8, E6, “A Milhouse Divided”
While at a dinner party at the Simpsons household a game of Pictionary goes south quickly when the Van Houten’s get into a heated argument and air their dirty laundry in front of all of their friends.  This prompts the stubborn Luann to demand a divorce from Kirk, who’s all too happy (at the time) to agree.

Luann 7

After Kirk has moved out of the house, Luann is quick to move on and immediately jumps into a new relationship with American Gladiator, Chase (or Pyro… but only on the weekends).  This begins her “revolving door” of relationships, and Milhouse’s many many “uncles”, while divorced from Kirk.

Luann 4

During Season 10, E11, “Wild Barts Can’t Be Broken”, it’s revealed that Luann isn’t exactly faithful in her new relationship with Pyro.  When during a Town Hall Meeting, by the children of Springfield on their “We Know All of Your Secrets” radio program, its found out that Luann has been cheating on Pyro with his best friend Gyro!  *jaw dropped*  Didn’t see that coming did you?  (is it time to flip a table yet?!)

Luann 34

Throughout the next 7 seasons we learn about many of Luann’s lovers.  She’s dated everyone from Apu, to the Sea Captain, to Disco Stu and… Otto?!

Luann 39

But in the end she ends up back with her blue-haired partner for life… Kirk in Season 17, E3, “Milhouse of Sand and Fog”.

Luann 28

Milhouse is originally thrilled with the idea of his parents getting back together and having a family again…

But this happiness quickly fades when he realizes now that his parents are back together, they have less time for him and no longer feel guilty about it.  So Milhouse hatches a plan, with Bart of course, to break his parents up by planting one of Marge’s bra’s in Kirk and Luann’s bed.  Of course Luann, being Luann, confronts Homer about this and tells him to tell his wife to “STAY AWAY FROM HER HUSBAND!”  Oooo bring on the drama!

Luann 19

Although wait… this is Springfield, NOT New Jersey, so of course everything works out in the end and Luann and Kirk remain together.  So together in fact that they announce 2 seasons later that they’re getting remarried!  Season 19, E6, “Little Orphan Millie”. (wait a minute… aren’t they related?!)

And Luann’s promiscuous days of dating the men of Springfield are over… or are they?  (That’s ok, I hear from Otto (Season 21, E21, “Moe Letter Blues” there’s no mystery left at the Van Houten house…since every man in Springfield has been there)

Let’s take a look at Luann’s world as it relates to TSTO.  Once unlocked she does have her very own multiple part questline, which closely resembles the episodes above, and has a complete list of premium & amusing tasks.

Luann’s Tasks:

Task Length Earns Location
Make Mommy Meals for Milhouse 1hr $105, 26xp Van Houten House
Dine at the Truffle 2hrs $175, 40xp Truffle
Go to Moe’s 4hrs $260, 70xp Moe’s
Run the Cracker Factory 8hrs $420, 105xp Cracker Factory
Relax in a Jacuzzi Suit 12hrs $600, 150xp Outside
Dress up in the Flag 16hrs $750, 200xp Outside
Ride in the MegaGlobe 24hrs $1,000,225xp Outside

So there you have it…Luann Van Houten.  The Real Housewife of Springfield fit for her own Reality Show Spin-off!  (Tardy for the Party anyone?!)  Luann has been seen around Springfield since the early days of the Simpsons.  While she’s not a major character in the show, they have managed to create dimension and personality to her character through a few featured episodes and many many MANY minor appearances in episodes.

Do you have a favorite Luann moment?  Have you purchased her in the game? If so, what is YOUR favorite task?

Until the next episode of “The Real Housewives of Springfield”.
