I’ve been noticing a few questions popping up in the comments of some posts and, while we try to answer each one individually, I thought everyone could benefit from the answers to these questions. So it’s time for another addition of Addicts Question Corner….
I’m Growing Corn, Will I Lose it When I start the Event?
Good news…NO! IF you’re growing Corn on Cletus’s Farm you don’t have to cancel it in order to start the Valentine’s Day quests. All you have to do is click Do It on the first Rose task and then watch as your corn looks like it’s on a combination of steroids and speed and starts to go crazy. Because the farm is required to start the Valentine’s Day Event (and access the items) EA has rewarded anyone growing corn with the corn speeding up. You still earn all of the cash and XP for it, it’s just so you don’t miss out on the Event or miss out on the corn. Sweet little reward from EA huh? It’s so you can proceed with the Valentine’s Day Event (because the farm is required to access the items) and not lose out on the corn progress. EA’s way of avoiding lots of angry letters over Tappers who are growing corn 😉
When Do I Unlock the Wheel?
The Wheel of Friendship will unlock for you after you’ve completed the first part of the Cards are Read Marge’s Hair is Blue quest. You can check out this post for more details on the Wheel.
How Do I Send Valentine’s to My Neighbors?
In order to send Valentine’s you’ll have to complete the first 2 tasks of the main quest. So not only will you have to grow and harvest roses from Cletus’s farm (will take 24 hrs, and once THIS step is complete you’ll unlock the ability to purchase the new Valentine’s items) AND you’ll have to complete part 2 and spin the Wheel of Friendship. After you’ve spun the Wheel a quest will pop up with Homer saying he wants more hearts. Once you run through that dialogue a quest will appear saying send 3 Valentine’s at THAT point you’ll unlock the ability to send Valentine’s to your neighbors.
How Many Hearts Do I Earn When a Neighbor Sends Me A Valentine? Does that number decrease like theirs?
You earn 2 Hearts per Valentine sent by your neighbors (meaning Be Mine Cards floating in YOUR town). And no that number does not decrease or increase. No matter how many hearts your neighbor earns for leaving it you’ll still earn 2 hearts per Valentine left in your town. There’s Nothing to Tap in My Neighbor’s Town, What Do I Do? How Long Does It Take for Hearts to “Regenerate” in My Neighbor’s Town?
If there are no characters to Tap in your neighbor’s town you’ll have to try back later (or if there’s only 1 or 2 characters and you can’t get the full 3). You have any time within 24hrs to tap on 3 Be Mine cards in their town. Most likely if nothing is showing it means that they haven’t cleared their town of Valentine’s sent from other neighbor’s yet. (similar to gifts at Christmas…if a neighbor had too many in their town you couldn’t drop more until they were cleared) New “Be Mine” cards will “regenerate” once your neighbor has cleared them from their town…i.e. tapped on their Valentine’s sent by other neighbors.
What Happened to the Squidport (Cletus’s Farm/Channel 6/Open Air Stage) Glitch? Why Can’t I Tap on Buildings When I Visit Neighbors?
The Squidport glitch has not disappeared. It’s temporarily been suspended for Valentine’s Day…as have all Buildings when visiting a neighbor. During the Valentine’s Event you can only tap on your neighbor’s characters, no buildings. This way everyone can share the love and earn more hearts!
Can Character’s Earn Hearts? Which Characters Have Tasks to Earn More Hearts?
This is a question we’re seeing a lot in the comments. Here’s the run down on new task that earn hearts:
Flander’s: Will Sing You A Valentine’s Ditty for 6 hrs and earn you 10 hearts
Milhouse: Will Follow and Stare at Lisa for 16hrs and earn you 30 hearts (note: this will require Lisa)
Cletus’s Farm: Will Grow Roses for 24hrs and earn you 50 hearts (and you get to keep the Rosebush)
Homer: Will Go on a Valentine’s Day with Marge for 8hrs and earn you 20 hearts (note: this will require Marge and does not unlock until part 10 of the main quest)
Marge: Will go on a Romantic Stroll with Homer for 5hrs and earn you 10 hearts (note: this will require Homer)
What Else Has Changed With the Update? Do Any Characters Have New Tasks?
The Valentine’s Day tasks listed above (that earn hearts) are all temporary tasks, BUT several characters do get new tasks in the game. Here’s the break down on that:
Cletus: 8hr task has been changed from Birth another Spuckler to Self Medicate, earns the same as before.
Skinner, Willy, Bumblebee Man, Duffman, Comic Book Guy & Squeaky Voiced Teen: New 10hr task to eat at the Up Up and Buffet (of course it’s a premium item so you’ll have to spend the donuts to unlock it).
Premium characters earn $530, 135xp, non-premium earn $350, 90xp.
My Springfield Rolled Back to the Start of Level 38 (or a lower level) Once I Downloaded the Update What Do I Do? Should I Keep Playing?
Unfortunately this is something we’ve been seeing with each update since Level 37 hit back in November. There really is no easy fix for this, nor is there a perfect solution. Our best advice is to try some of the basic troubleshooting methods. Also, if you have access to an alternate platform for your device (like iOS if you’re using Android or vice versa) try logging into your town via the alternate platform. If you see the “You’re Other Device Didn’t Save” message just Tap Play Now. This solved the issue for me that was happening when my iPad Rolled me back to Level 38, but when I logged into my Android device my town was restored. If those methods don’t help to solve the problem your next best bet is to contact EA. If you choose to continue to play your game after a rollback hits just keep in mind you’re playing at your own risk.

I’ve locked Bunny up in the basement and forced her to answer all of your comments (well with Wookiee and I helping of course…there HAVE been thousands of them over the last 3 days…not that we’re complaining we LOVE hearing from you), finish frakkin the files & watch countless episodes of The Simpsons (oh and I’ve put her in charge of making her own Bunny “water” for now…I’ll get back to making it soon). She’s got a ton of posts in the “hopper” (see what I did there?) and they’ll be rolling out soon…the first one being Springfield Showoff tonight.

Is there a walk through for “Kiss My Grits” yet?
Lol, yes…it IS written up and has been since first day. Sorry…we got an influx of all the tech issues and glitches that some items were put on the back burner while we got info desperately requested. Keep an eye out though, it is coming soon. Promise. 😉
Something to add to the list for “Can characters earn hearts?” Apparently when Brandine goes on her date with Cletus at Luigi’s in Kiss My Grist Pt. 5, Brandine earns 20 hearts. Luigi just earns a standard 275. Cletus earns nothing separate from Brandine, it puts a weird loop between them in the graphics and shows his name as a subscript to her.
Yah. The link in the progression menu is a new one we have not seen before. It is interesting. I also found it odd that only she had a heart payout. Not sure as to why. But with this update, nothing surprises me too much anymore. Lol 😉
Do you have a post telling the value added if we buy VDay decorations?

So how much do the VD items help your vanity rating? Is it worth continuing to spin the wheel after you’ve gotten everything? I’m one train away from finishing the wheel and am wondering if continuing to spin my hearts out is worth it. (Assuming that rigged thing Krusty mentioned isn’t going to prevent me from completing the wheel.)
They vary from 100 to 350. I am collecting them more for just adding decoration options to my town. I like to have multiples of each item. Especially fences.
Winnings from the Friendship wheel do not show up in my inventory. Is anyone else having this problem, and what to do?
I have not seen this one happening. All my winnings were in there to be placed yesterday. Let me try a few more spins today and see what happens.
In the meantime, try the basic troubleshooting steps to see if it brings them back or corrects the issue.

If you keep playing and this keeps happening…screenshot your winnings for documentation if you can and contact EA to open a ticket on the issue.
So do I need to get one of everything from the wheel in order to unlock the tunnel of love ride? I’ve only spun it 5 or 6 times and I’ve already gotten two flower carts and two balloons. I know it’s random what it stops on but with it being 200 donuts per spin I’m worried that I might not get the ride.
Yes. The hearts will change color and Bart’s arrow will pierce the item. When you see them all red and pierced, then the Tunnel of Love will be yours.
I really appreciate all the work you put into this site. It has saved a lot of grief to see I’m having the same issues as everyone else.

Just now I found several characters in my town with two valentines – it is possible to stack them up. Best guess: maybe if two neighbors tap on them at approximately the same time?
Or EA realizing that less than 200 characters able to tap for 300 taps needed was just not gonna workout for anyone. It is a pain to keep going in and out of towns over and over.
K I checked all my devices. No sign of double taps (two greeting cards) just the standard two heart payout per card. Hmmmm.
Since the Valentine’s update my characters seem to have gained the extraordinary talent of walking UNDER buildings/trees/shrubs etc, etc. They can no longer walk down the street without disappearing. Have no idea what’s going on but so far it hasn’t affected the gameplay. Some of my buildings overlap others too.
I have seen this all throughout the time I have been playing. I think it makes for some great “Caption This” moments and screenshot them. Lol. 😉
You can still tap Cletus’ Farm if the crop is withered. Have seen this two or three times now, and you can still bring back your friends’ crops. Can’t tap on it if it is still good, though.
Will the rosebushes die if they aren’t harvested soon enough?
I keep trying to see if they do. But people keep tapping on them. Lol.
I would assume as with any other crop on the farm, you have the alotted 24hrs to tap and harvest before they wilt. I also assume that if they do wilt, just ask a neighbor to tap and restore them. 😉
What does the distillery do if you posy 25 donuts?
It’s just a decoration. It’ll add to your bonus % total but aside from that it is just a decoration. No animations or product produced.
There is an animation if you tap on it. The coil moves and smoke billows out.
You are correct…I think us Addicts need a lil bit of “water” out of it right now…or…maybe we got into it and took a lil too much “water” and are losing our minds. (a lil more than usual. Lol) 😉
As someone with very few characters (started at Xmas 2013, built up through Muntz house) I noticed that if a character is on an indoor task, the game would allow multiple cards /each earning 2 hearts on one character (I noticed this when clearing cards, I don’t know if my neighboreeno entered my town twice but I know I didnt clear in between…maybe something to consider re task selection since the game pops them outside anyway.
Ooooh a double tapping glitch? Hmmm. I may have to look into this. Thanks 😉
it seems to only work on characters that are on an indoors task… and i think you have to leave the town and reenter it later (like a minute or so) it didn’t work on a character who was outside in Krustyland (I just checked)
I cant seem to get past the screen which shows homer..it keeps showing up “synchronising..” and it never got past that no matter how many times I’ve closed the app on my android and reset my phone. I had no problems initially after the switch over to Valentine’s day theme.
So sorry. A lot of server issues with the millions of new users and the update all hitting at once. I notice it more at “peak use times” then not. Hang in there. EA will catch up.
I have heard this talk about the SP/6/farm glitch not being gone, however before my first roses were harvested I was still able to tap on buildings in springfields that have also not harvested their first roses yet, and the SP/6?farm glitch was definitely not working.
The glitch required a building that had already been tapped by another visitor to still be tappable. Unlike the friends gift cards.
Are you saying you think that the buildings will support multiple taps again?
I am trying very hard not to get my hopes up 😉
I think it’ll be back after the event is over, but there’s no way to know for sure until Valentine’s Day has left our games. 🙂
How come the rose bushes changed? I had some from the previous V-Day and now they all resemble the new ones. I liked my old style ones! 🙁
I noticed that change to and went back to my old ones to check. I kinda liked the old ones better too but oh well.

I first saw that thing about the corn in your Valentine’s overview post. So, I started corn, and tapped “Do It” thinking I could get $45k just like that. But, alas, $9k wasted as I had to reset Cletus’s farm before being able to grow the Valentine’s roses. So you can’t just start corn and try to get EA to speed it up for you.
Nope it has to be started before you update.
V-day “new stuffs” question. I seem to be unable to place the beach chair (or purchase it for that matter) I click it- get the red “place this thing here” box and can scoot it all over, but it never turns green to place it. ? I have consulted the google overlords and searched this site 🙂 to see if anyone else has trouble.
At first I figured it was because my roses were not yet bloomed- but I am now on the 2nd crop, spun that wheel twice, Millhouse is doing his best to catch Lisa, Ned sings his heart (pun intended) out, the construction crew is hard at work on Madame Chao’s…and I just bumped to lvl 13. So, I am new, but I thought I had this figured out? maybe it comes after Mindy arrives? since it is used in one of her quests?
Any idea what I am doing wrong? I always figure it is ME and not the game first.

when you land on Valentine fence on the wheel, do you get one section or multiple sections?
You earn 4 sections of fence each time (at least I think it’s 4 it could be 5…having a hard time remembering).

Does anyone else feel that the Valentine’s Update was a way for EA to “fix” a few glitches? Think about it, the 1st quest, plant crops. That takes care of the corn glitch. You can only tap on people, not buildings. That takes care of Channel Six and Squidport. Sure, it sounds nice to have the corn sped up, but to have to start the corn all over again kind of stinks.
I agree it stinks losing the corn progress for the tapping glitch BUT at least you don’t lose your corn all together. As far as the glitch itself, I think it will be back after Valentine’s day. I don’t believe it’s a glitch at all. I think it’s the way the game was intended to be played from the start but they had some glitches in implementing it initially, at least that’s my thought on it. 🙂
Quick tip from what I found last night. If your neighbors town has no one to tap on, check their Krustyland. There were a number of times I’d find, uh, untapped potential in the land of the clown. Hopefully this still earns the neighboreeno hearts aw well…
that is to say, “Hopefully it earns the neighboreenos hearts as well…” wasn’t trying to sound snide.
As someone who received hearts from someone who tapped in my Krustyland, I can definitely report that KLand taps are useful.
It looks as if NPC characters can receive VD cards as well. So if your want more characters for your friends to tap and have stored NPCs, because you didn’t want a zombie apocalypse during your holiday celebrations, dust them off and put them back in your town.

I am not able to update my game I have uninstalled and installed it a couple times and I still keep going in circles I do not have google play store for my app can any one help me? never had this happen to me before been playing for almost a year now
You’re playing on an Android Device? And you don’t have the Play Store OR you don’t see the App in the Play Store?
If I understand this explanation, that means that people who are not active in the game will not generate hearts/cards as they are not clearing off the ones they have. Is this correct?

‘Where Are All of the Valentine’s Posts from Bunny?’ Hilarious!!
I found it amusing and flattering all the same that people are curious where my writing is. When updates hit, I become support to the team and our readers. I spend the majority of the first few days frakking files to get all the data out to the team. Then screenshot thousands of photos for the posts. I have been answering thousands of comments, emails, Facebook posts, etc. And am loving every minute. I do love writing. It is my passion, so more will come from me. I promise. 😉

Just a heads up to those doing the squidport glitch. If you have the max number of boards, they will probably cut you off. Happened to me last holiday update. Now when I tap to build it just says ” you have the maximum number of boards “.
