From the Mouths of Addicts: More Event Ideas

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Welcome to another edition of From the Mouths of Addicts, where YOU get to sound off on anything and everything in the world of Tapped Out!  We’ve got a post from longtime Addict, Happy Tapper!

Happy Tapper used the downtime with the latest mini-event to focus on what we could see for the next major event.  And even give EA an idea or two about what to put out in the future.

Enjoy it my friends!  Here’s Happy Tapper… -Alissa

Hello, fellow tappers!

You may remember me from such posts as “Future TSTO Events” and “The Main Event Contest” or the annoying optimistic guy in the comments.

If I have got EAs attention and haven’t got it for much longer, I would like to quickly say …

I would love to see more interaction in the game, some more ways to make the game live up to its “strategy” title: more neighbour interaction in events, easter eggs to earn a donut or two, little clues/riddles to get to a prize, a Choose your Own Adventure type update where there are multiple routes to the dialogue.

I would just like to see some more experimenting with making events more than just popping into my town every 4 hours, tappa tappa tappa and then leaving.

The Simpsons is still full of content, from the classic to the modern, so in this post I wanted to break down some ideas that I’ve enjoyed designing, including possible content, a questline idea and maybe a way for it to break the 3 act formula. I hope you enjoy …

KRUSTY EVENT

EA like to tease us about future updates whether it’s from the Facebook page or from the Takedown descriptions and one little clue that could evolve into an update came from the recent “The Springfield Jobs” Takedown store description that included … “A brutal build on a failing park?” which, I think, is alluding to a Krustyland revival (which I actually requested in my original post).

Now whether or not this teaser will become a reality or not is up to EA. This is not a speculation post and EA, very frequently, give teasers in the App Store description that never make it into the game.

But whether we’ll get some light shone in the dark and neglected place of Krustyland, I REALLY want a Krusty event. This idea came from my realization that there is a lot of content that would be great in the game that revolves around Krusty so here are my ideas:

Questline Idea: After a meeting with his assistant Mr. Teeny, he decides to get a new agent, Louis Pennycandy, who suggests a number of ways to boost Krusty’s sales, including restarting the show. This prompts the collection of classic “The Krusty Show” characters, a revamp of Krustyland and a failed attempt at a Krusty Movie.

Content Ideas: Louis Pennycandy, Tina Ballerina, Corporal Punishment, Holly Hippie, Sideshow Raheem, Annie Dubinsky, Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie (all as Separate, PLAYABLE characters), Outdoor Big Top Set, Filming Equipment, Krustkateers Kart and loads of Krustyland/Itchy & Scratchy Land content

Format: I think a 2 Act event would do this event justice with a lot happening at once (a Krustyland revival occurring with the restart of the Krusty Show) so that the player has enough to do and can keep doing something if they’re not interested in the Krustyland or Krusty part of the event.

And I think that’s how a Krustyland Revival Event should happen: a merge of Springfield and Krustyland – whether that be physically allowing Krustyland to be above Springfield Heights or somewhere in Springfield or just stuff happening in Springfield as well as KL – because if the event is solely in Krustyland, a lot of players will not play because a revival of Krustyland is either really wanted or really not. I do want a Krustyland revival but you’ve got to supply to most.

FIELD TRIP EVENT

There are many possibilities for an event revolving around school with many classic children and teachers still not in the game, but I thought I’d go more original with this Field Trip idea:

Questline Idea: After Skinner is sick of teaching he decides to spend the rest of the year on school trips. But first, he needs to get permission slips and some more teachers so he doesn’t have to go on the boring trips he has planned. But after all the boring trips to places like the Box Factory, Otto takes a detour to Toy Town as a final school trip.

Content Idea: Mr. Bergstrom w/ The Happy Gypsy, Ms. Mellon, Brunella Pommelhorst, Allison Taylor, Lewis Clark, Richard, Box Factory, Smoke Factory, Steel Mill, Springfield Public Library, Toy Town, Benches with Seats and many teachers/students that aren’t in the game.

Format: This could be a mini or major event but I think it would be cool if you needed to get a certain number of permission slips (the event currency) to get one of the trips (eg. Box Factor, Toy Town) and to get this currency you have to send kids on hidden tasks (tasks that aren’t highlighted or prompted/part of a questions) like “Make Nelson cut the grass” or “Make Bart help around the house”, which are just secretly hidden amongst task lists,  to make the parents believe they’ve earned the trip. It would be fun to find all these tasks and have a more individual experience with getting the currency and getting the prizes.

MUSICAL EVENT

I am a big musical fan and the show is full of musical related items that would make the perfect event. Wookie has already done a great post on the many items they could add so I’m not going to go into much detail into the content aspect but I would love this event EA so I wanted to add how I would do it …

Questline Idea: After Lisa comes back from a theatre trip in Shelbyville, Homer is determined to prove to Lisa that Springfield has culture and talent by putting on a musical with the help of an Assistant Director (Llwellyn Sinclair), A Songwriter (Weird Al? I dunno) and a Choreographer (Chazz Busby and/or Vicki Valentine)

Content Idea: Director Homer (TSTO exclusive costume), Llewellyn Sinclair, Vicki Valentine w/ Lil Vicki Valentine’s School of Dance, Chazz Busby w/ Chazz Busby Ballet Academy, Springfield Playhouse, Springfield Community centre show façade, “A Streetcar named Marge” costumes for Ned and Marge, Broadway signs, Outdoor Stage, (I know we’ll probably never get him but) TROY MCCLURE and so much more (go check out Wookie’s post!)

Format: I wouldn’t mind three act events as long as there was enough content for three (I’d much prefer 2 acts like the last Christmas event!) and each act would be made shorter because the last few 3 act events have felt like a lifetime. So maybe this event could be a 3 Act Event which each act being 1 week and work on one different aspect (dance, acting, singing) building up to the BIG SHOW which could be a group animation or maybe (*gasp*) a cutscene – which I would like to see more of.

Well, I thought I’d finish at those 3 ideas. I have plenty more but this is probably enough and I’ve got to leave some ideas if I do another guest post in the future.

I really do hope you enjoy these little design ideas. Let me know which one you’d like to see in the game the most and let me know your ideas! I love hearing TSTO ideas so leave a comment down below, and Happy Tapping 🙂

Thanks, Happy Tapper for another fun event ideas post!  Let’s hope EA implements some of these ideas into our game soon!

What are your thoughts on HappyTapper’s ideas?  What would you like to see in the game?  What would you change?  Sound off below, you know we love hearing from you!

As always we love hearing from you guys…so if you have an opinion or take on something going on in the game (or something that should be going on in the game), please send it along to us TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com…

  1. A Krustyland event gets my vote. The lack of updates for literal years is a mystery. Here’s my guess: KL’s coding is a mess, and EA’s programmers can’t tweak it without breaking something else in TSTO. (The fact that there’s still a “Games” category in the Inventory, even in Springfield, suggests that they can’t yank it out.) So they just abandoned it. I guess TSTO is not a cash cow for EA, so they won’t allocate enough resources to fix it.

  2. I haven’t read through to see if this has been suggested but here goes anyway. For Halloween, some sort of Attack of the 50 Foot Eyesores would be awesome. It’s classic THOH and earning/unlocking the huge characters to walk around our towns would be enough to keep me playing for a while longer. I have been pretty let down with Halloween events since the Lovecraft one. If they don’t up their game, I can’t see myself playing this game for much longer.

  3. I would love to see a different type of event. One where it sort of feels like a continuation of the game, like how the level updates used to. Where it adds some story and unusual character interactions.

Make a ’22 stories of Springfield’ event. Basically a mini event that doesn’t go away, just like the road to riches addition, so that it could be added to later. Add quest chains that pair characters that haven’t met yet (or at least not often). A quest that pairs Herman and Nelson. Or Dr Hibbert and Otto. Maybe Ralph Wiggum with Rainier Wolfcastle. Cletus with Agnes Skinner. Also could be an excuse to put on sale some of the premium characters that don’t get the chance that often. Sheri and Teri could be put on sale cause they could have a quest chain with Kirk Vanhouten. Santa’s little helper on sale for a quest chain with police chief Wiggum. The choices are numerous.

Professor Frink could head it up. He didn’t get his chance last time, so he wants to do it right this time. If you absolutely need a 3 act structure. Maybe in act 1 he’s setting up the scenarios, but nobody wants to at first. Then in act 2 the rest of Springfield see how much fun it is and wants to join in. Then in act 3 it goes off the rails and people start doing really crazy things and Springfield starts cooling off of the idea leaving to the all too predictable ‘everything’s back to normal’ trope.

Also a new way of getting the prizes that’s not just collecting another event currency. Instead have them hidden behind a series of quests that need to be done. Kind of like how the mini event prizes are unlocked just on a grander scale. Maybe Frink needed to incentivize people to do the quest chains, so he set it up this way.

And we could finally get that tall guy and his car from the original episode.

Just some thoughts I’ve had for a while. Glad I could finally put them out there.

The land that time forgot, act 1 krustyland lost in space, act 2 Springfield hights the mountain between us, act 3 la la land, act 4 waterword, event ends with the day the earth stood still 2024

  5. Hi Happy Tapper,

    Nice article and nice ideas.

I like your idea of more neighbour interaction (friendship prizes were nice)
And I especially like your idea of clues to solve riddles and earn prizes.

I would love more animals and pets to be introduced in the game.

More pretty flowers and different coloured trees.

I’ve mentioned this idea many times but a doughnut tree (like the lemon tree etc but with doughnuts on it) and perhaps it could sometimes give out a free doughnut to us or to a neighbour when tapped.

A ‘magic box’ or ‘magic lantern’ and sometimes at random times it could give free unique items either to us, or to a neighbour.
And this would also help to reintroduce neighbour visits

  6. EA, just give us Troy McClure and his mansion. He doesn’t need to be voiced, he just needs to be cool, via storyline and animations. Did I mention his mansion?!

  7. How about a homage how, hi I’m actor Troy MClure, you might remember me from such episodes as… to many funny ones to rhyme off here.

Act 3 can be planet of the apes, the musical. I would love to have a doctor Zeus in my Springfield.

I’ll leave it for the reply section for others to chime in on their favorite Troy moments. And no for a couple of songs:

I have every monkey I see, from chimpan-a to chimpan-zee.

Oh no, I was wrong, it was earth all along.

Dr Zeus dr Zeus, whoa, dr zeus.

    • Sorry, I read half the article and wanted to get my thoughts out before my train of thought got derailed. Took a break, and read the ret of the article, there under musicals is a picture of the planet of the apes.

Don’t want to take credit for someone else’s ideas, so full credit to the article. Again, great work tstoaddicts!
I still want a Troy MClure hommage event.

      Regards.

The “fight the villanous roll back” superheros part 3 event, featuring The New tsto exclusive “server-mc-server error”

  9. Every spring, I hope for this event. But no go so far. With the winter event ending, if you throw in a mini event, that puts it right in February just in time for spring training in baseball. And IMO, the episodes writes itself perfectly for a full event.
    Homer at Bat.

Also a Krustyland Halloween event, maybe combined with the episode of Sideshow Bob trying to kill Bart in Krustyland. It would be a great way to add more rides in Krustyland and make it an interesting place instead of the ghost town it is now.

Oh, and fixing the game would be nice.

  10. I completely forgot about Krustyland. I probably haven’t been there in 2 years. I like the idea of moving the stuff to Springfield buyer really, really, REALLY need more land. I just know the next event will start out with a huge building and I have zero room

  11. Give me singing monkeys!!! Now 😍

    • Definitely! I can see the reason for not adding Troy McClure (even though that won’t stop me begging!) but get those blooming monkeys in the game :).
And after we get singing monkeys, we need Zombie Pirate Monkeys. Why don’t we just have a full blown monkey event?? 😉😁

  12. I like these ideas but I would be surprised to see EA focus too much on Krustyland since they are aware most of us avoid it like the plague. Moving it to Springfield is an interesting thought but I wonder how practical that is mechanically.

Having spent a lot of time conceptualizing how to make EA’s commitment to three-Act main Events less of a drudgery, which is possible, I have found a small measure of appreciation for the efforts involved in making Events, such as providing sufficient content to support 4-6 weeks of play.

Personally, I would like to see them take more of a mini-Events approach, providing more change throughout. I believe that would break up the monotony that main Events take on over the weeks. I also see Events as a means to inject new elements and features. Here is a year’s concepts I came up with last year, which are fully detailed in the closing link if you’re interested:

“Three Cheers for Springfield” (making Springfield Springfield)
–Event I: “Springfield City” (city-building focus, moving vehicles, Embigulator/Debigulator)
–Event II: “The Night Cometh” (SNPP focus, nighttime)
–Event III: “Red, White & Blue Dawn” (military focus, town pride)

    “Changing of the Seasons”
–Event IV: “Summer Break” (the outdoors, baseball, carnival)
–Event V: “THOH: Yesteryears” (the 90s, classic appearances)
–Event VI: “The Krampus Corruption” (holiday spirit)

  13. Fix the roll back bugs event. I can’t take much more or this.

  14. UptonSinclair36

Well the mini event just ended and a 100 donut character and a free plane just came into the store wth like no quests.

  15. Is anyone else having log in problems?  Anonymous??

  16. 1. Clown college and circus might be fun
    2. A kind of road race theme, where we can build a track (like the mono-rail and add cars to it, to “race”)

  17. DSNecromorphUSS

For me, it’s about adding variety to the decorations. A lot of people say a Krustyland event, I’m all for that. Every suggestion on here, fantastic. I have said before I’d love a nature themed event where we could get cool flowers and stuff. The last event gave us those little houses that really added real decorating potential, but it’s time to raise the stakes. I’d really like:
    1. Ability to write short messages in friend’s towns, maybe pre-generated ones so no profanity.
2.Say it with me: MORE FLOWERS. Preferably with single tone colors to “draw” in flowers.
    3. Another expansion to the town, having just two (Heights, Krustyland) for a having a game that is almost 6 years old is a bit low.
    4. How bout a no brainer, just update the server. A vast majority of players experienced the same thing, a mass logout. Fix the server, EA, if you want more money.
    5. Ability to actually raise and lower the land instead of having to use optical illusions. I love using those, i have hedges all over my town trying to make it look like my town is going up, but I really just want to do it without items.

Those are just some ideas, but anything they give us ill play anyway. Hopefully the new event lands soon.

    • I’m always using flowers and nature in my town designs (I often use the dark green shrubs to line pavements as I don’t like the harsh ends of the pavement tiles), so more variety nature wise would be good.
Love using colour through flowers in my town, often designing nature gardens and areas of waterfalls and lakes 😊

    • I would like to write messages to people in other towns to compliment their design work or to let them know there is an update. Sometimes an event will be out for a week and I will see my neighbors are still playing but haven’t updated.

  18. I’ve been thinking about a Halloween event that incorporates THOH S10 “Terror of Tiny Toon”, S22 “War and Pieces” and S14 “Island of Dr. Hibbert”.

Teaser: Bart uses the glowing remote from “Terror of Tiny Toon”, and with mini-event style, unleashes giant board games from commercials for “War and Pieces”. Prizes would include Burn’s human chess board, Mouse Catch, animation of Bart kicking Mouse Catch, Drops and Risers, animation of Homer in Drops and Risers.

Main Game: The TV fully comes to live when Bart hits LIVE on the remote, and because it was on a nature show, it starts infecting townspeople and turning them into animals, so there would be at least 58 skins from “Island of Dr. Hibbert”. Walrus Homer, Panther Marge, Camel Otto, Snail Milhouse, etc(see below for more). You would have to tame these animals (like the behemoths from Halloween) to domesticate them and fully unlock the new skin’s questline.
When you tap enough of the Scratchys that have shown up in your town from the TV, you can turn in event currency to fight the TV (like the present launcher, no timer). Fight the TV and win and you get one move on the prize track.
Prize Tracks: The first 13 skins you get would also be pawns on their own prize tracks which look like Satan’s Path board game. You can choose to move any pawn you want as they are all on the same path and each will get a prize on each “?” square. You will not know what any upcoming prize is as they are all mystery. 13 pawns X 7 prizes to the finish = 91 prize track prizes.

Daily Trivia: The TV also flipped past the Japanese Game Show the Simpsons were on, so each day you would get a hard trivia question from the show with 5-10 people icons for your possible answer. Example “Who is the only man on this list that has never gone on a date with Mrs. Krabapple?” Guess right and you are awarded access to that day’s prize, incorrectly and you are locked out for 6 hours before re-answering.

Itchys: A very small percent of the time, you would get an Itchy when you tap a Scratchy. You drop this Itchy in a cage in your friend’s town and when they tap it, being a Scratchy killing master, Itchy finds enough “hidden” Scratchys (not depleting from ones in town to tap) for the friend to get one fight against the TV. The dropper also gets back a third as a bonus, but only if the friend opens the cage, so choose active friends.

Friend Interaction Update: The first Scratchy you tap in any friend town goes to them as a town tariff, and the next two go to you. If you purchase the 90 donut license, it would also double the event currency tariff that you get when friends come to your town.

The End: After you finish all 13 prize tracks, you enter into a final battle with the TV (not before the final 4 days of event) and your grand prize is playable Itchy and Scratchy characters.

There are no acts, because it will take a long time to earn all 13 prize tracks and work through them and tame the crazed animals. Story dialogue would pop up every couple days if you are caught up, instead of being able to play through it all in one or two days, and should last the length of the event. No crafting either. Past decorations could be bought with game cash.

I’m picturing, like Stonecutters event, at least 5 characters groups of skins. If you earn or buy a skin for a character you don’t have, it would stay in inventory until you do get the character.
List of more skin prizes: Spider Bart, Owl Lisa, Cow Centaur Ned, Pig Wiggum, Kangaroo Agnes, Joey Skinner, Flamingo Smithers, Crocodile Sea Captain, Skunk Snake, Rooster Grampa, Panda Quimby, Rhino Brockman, Goat Comic Book Guy, Turtle Moleman, Beaver Fat Tony, Anteater Maggie, Moose Lawyer, Giraffe Gil, Raccoon Miss Springfield, Vulture Old Jewish Man, Lion Krusty, Frog Moe, Sloth Cletus, Turkey Frink, Coyote Rev Lovejoy, Horse Helen Lovejoy, Eagle Arnie Pye, Goat Jasper, Guinea Pig Luigi, Bear Chalmers, Warthog Barney, Rabbit Wolfcastle, Dog Eddie, Cheetah Lou, Sheep Martin, Hippo Judge, Lizard Herman, Shrew Stu, Pelican Lenny, Armadillo Carl, Wolf Nelson, Antelope Manjula, Possum Apu, Elephant Selma, Leopard Patty, Aardvark Kirk, Meerkat Lindsay Naegle, Tiger Dolph, Squirrel Dr Nick, Deer Cookie Kwan, Donkey Squeaky Voiced Teen, Bat Largo, Buffalo Rick Texan and Koala Duffman.

Hope you like that idea. 🙂

    • Wow, a lot of thought went into that! I love the idea.
I think Halloween and Christmas are my favourite events to think up designs for but because of how far away they are, I thought I’d leave my seasonal ideas out 😁.
I’d personally love a “Rise of the Dead” event where Bart sets off a spell that turns all the ghost characters into alive versions, shop mascots into giant monsters etc.
I think this is mainly because I really want an Alive skin for Maude 😁, I don’t like ghost characters tbh

  19. The field trip event needs Principal Valiant…

Given the reports of a soccer task for people who’ve updated I guess we’re getting something World Cup related (maybe Pele, Ronaldo, Nelson’s Dad, referee Homer and costumes for Bart, Lisa and maybe Nelson) so perhaps it will be a sporting task (Act 1: Football/Soccer, Act 2: Baseball – Homer at the Bat opens a lot of possibilities as well as MoneyBart, Act 3: American Football – Homer loves Flanders, Bart Star, Lisa vs the 8th Commandment – Smooth Jimmy’s Lock of the Week would be great!)

    • Given all the effort Fox Sports has been putting into pushing it’s World Cup coverage, this wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
      ~MIB🕵️

  20. I’d like to see theatre/film as an event theme.

    • I would also love to see this too. Would love to get a Movie premiere event with red carpet tiles, Springfield celebs, the return of the walk of fame star tiles and the many Broadway/Theatre related characters/content throughout the show.
The Simpsons is very well known for it’s musical episodes so I’m surprised that they haven’t done anything yet 😉

  21. Robert Michael Jensen

I’m not personally crazy about the idea of expanding Krustlyland near Springfield Heights. What I would like to see is an expansion that would include Shelbyville and or Capitol City. But never should Krustlyland have an expansion next to Springfield Heights. As for a full Krustlyland event considering that it took 40 questlines to complete , I’d say no. A small mini event for new characters and decorations etc , that might not be so bad. A school field trip sounds great. More teachers certainly and students should be added. What I want to see is more lawyers and judges. And a Musical themed event is more agreeable as they have plenty of episodes to choose from.

  22. Carole C. Pilgrim

    1. I would like to see more people used during quests.
    2. When new characters are added during quests, they should NOT have double jobs.
    3. I want to be able to sell all the extra stuff I don’t use.

  23. I don’t want to be repetitive or to flame the posts here (mainly because this is not an official EA site), but they should first fix the rollback bug that a lot of users are experiencing, and after that work on new content. I won’t spend any more time with the game because I’m not certain if they will reset my town, if I will lose my progress and so on.

  24. I miss having more interaction with my Neighboreenos during Events (Buildings vs sending Characters too difficult to see). 10 Neighbor visits a Day seems slight ….. why can’t an Event offer say 30 Neighbor visits, EA?

I WISH Krustyland wasn’t neglected (we’ve obtain so many new Characters since this area was opened, a shame these Characters cannot visit this area – please change that, EA!)

2 Act Event with quality Prizes like only Buildings and Characters (Skins and NPC’s are becoming meh). I’m hesitant to purchase Premiums from the Store until “that glitch” has been taken care of (get on it, EA!)

  25. Fix the rollback glitch is my main idea!
Followed by use Krustyland, maybe during your Krustyland event.
    I like your ideas though

  26. Sorry off topic, is the server down?
It’s 7:00 central and I keep getting an error trying to log on

  27. I like your ideas 🙂

  28. Help! Somehow I am logged out of my account. It says to sign in and I do, but keep getting a message that says…login error please try again. When try again, says same thing. Anyone else having this problem? TIA

  29. ethan waldner

Another tapper(not me but I forget who) came up with the idea of a plant theme event that brings color and suck into the game.( The new chararater has abunch if plants on his shirts, so maybe…) Tgis would be a awesome event and one that I think everyone would like

  30. I’m down for a zoo event
