Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Wowsers the latest mini-event to hit Springfield brought us the ultimate Mystery Box! With over 700 items (737 at my count), the Yearbook Mystery Box is the largest single Mystery Box to ever hit our pocket-sized towns.
This isn’t your ordinary Mystery Box. No, this is a premium box full of almost every limited-time (and not so limited-time) premium item and prize to ever hit Springfield. It’s pretty insane.
Because this box is different than a standard Mystery Box I’m going to treat this post different than the standard Mystery Box post. For starters, this is going up shortly after the event hit our games because I know this is the info you’re all really wanted to know. And I’m going to breakdown what’s inside, as well as give you some tips to get what you really want in Springfield. So let’s take a look…
Update: Since the writing of this post the Mystery Box can be found in the Premium Section of your Store. Just click the Homer Buddha Icon….
This Mystery Box is a great way to get items you may have missed out on from Previous Events at a low price…30 donuts is a steal for this stuff!
And…because there are items that are not unique in Springfield, everyone will see a Mystery Box in their game.
At the premise, this is like your basic Mystery Box. Spend 30 donuts and have a shot at a variety of premium characters, skins, decorations, and buildings from events of the past! 30 Donuts is equal to or less than the initial value for each item (unless they were initially prizes, in that case, they were originally free)
What’s different about this box is it only shows 5 items at a time. Meaning you have a 20% chance to get one of the items 5 items you see in your box at any given time.
How do you see new items appear? Hit the Blue Refresh Button…
and your 5 Mystery Box Prizes will change to show 5 different prizes…
(Not that I need to explain but, yes, these are screenshots from two different games. I initially was in my main Springfield for the first screenshot. Then jump to my lower level game to check out the returning content and just took a MB screenshot from there)
So the best strategy for the Mystery Box is to refresh your box until you see 5 items you like and/or want. Then go for it. Or at the very least, make sure there’s something you want in that group of 5 before trying.
It’s also important to note, yes there’s the Donut Truck, Donut Boat and Donut store in the box. THEY DO NOT AWARD FREE DONUTS. They’re just decorations/buildings from previous Donut Days. There are NO FREE Donuts in this box.
Also, yes you may have screens that only show 1 or two items.
And, because there are some items that are not unique (like the Whale) your box shouldn’t disappear from your game..even if you think you have everything. At least not until the mini-event ends.
Yearbook Mystery Box Leaves Games on March 26th
(on 3/14 an app store update was released, Classless reunion Patch 1, that removed the timer from the game box. FWIW there never was an official end date written in the files for the Box (before or after the patch). So no telling if this will stick around after the 26th or not.

Listen, there are 737 items. I’m not doing my normal Mystery Box Breakdown. I’ve got a full list in Alphabetical Order of what’s in the box, and (if available) i’ve linked it to the SIB post or prize post so you can see more details. If you want to know what it is/does or how much it originally cost click that link.
Listwise, it appears in the files with other names and in some case without indicating characters coming with them (if they do). I tried to go from memory to indicate characters, but I know I missed a bunch. If it came with a character before it’ll come with it again. Go by the pictures you see in the box, not my list. My list is just so you know every possible item available.
30 donuts is a fantastic steal for a lot of these items.

This is AMAZING! Specially because how easy it is to obtain 30 donuts nowadays. Got Roscoe + Ajax Steel Mill, Refrigeratorium + Ice Bishop of Beverly Hills and Miss Springfield + Sleep Eazy Motel. Planning to get more as I also see Jesus and Julio are a part of this. Perhaps the best thing they added yet (yes I am late to the party, only came back to the game this year).

My yearbook no longer appears for me in game. Does that mean I got all of the items? I do have a lot.
I started buying items out of the year book box last spring and today got the last item. It only took 22,080 doughnuts!
Hopefully they will add more stuff that was not available in the future.
Please forgive me if my question has already been answered but I was wondering if items ever get added to this mystery Yearbook box..

Are they updating this box with new event items?
It seems to me that I’ve seen/gotten items from the box that have been featured in the more recent events. It might be that they were reusing old items in new events, but would be nice if the box had everything.
150 donuts for any item seems fair.
Nope. Has not been updated
I kept refreshing until there was one item I really wanted and at least 2 good bundles. If you don’t refresh after a purchase, you can keep spending 30 donuts on the five items that showed when you last refreshed. I got the Duffman/woman/Mexican/factory bundle, the dragons bundle, Dr, Nick, Sherri&Terri, and Peacock’s for 30 donuts each.
Missing the Evil Shopkeeper & Bart Raven in the Yearbook since I already had both Bad Dream & House of Evil House when it originally hit Springfield. Is there anyway of generating these characters?
Final 6 to go. Only one I can see missing is pirate Kang because I don’t have Kang. He better be available at Halloween.
Just got Costington’s. No questline though. Any ideas?
It should trigger with Mr. Costington. Not sure if it’s hung up because of your level of gameplay, or if it’ll trigger as you continue to play. My best advice is to just keep playing and see if it triggers within a few days. If not, they may have pulled the questline.
Is the yearbook mystery box still available after the app updates to the baby event? So far game has not forced an update so I’ve avoided it just in case. Wondering if it is safe to proceed.

Whoa. Just cleared out the yearbook mystery box two days after the Flanders family reunion started. Wow. That’s a lot of tapping. #sohappy
My mystery box is behaving oddly. First Planet Hype was stuck in first position: only the other four changed when I refreshed the list. Now that I’ve bought it, I just see four items in each list. Presumably this means I’m getting near the end of the box.
I’m not seeing the evil shopkeeper. Am I overlooking?

Darn it! I did notice as you purchase items it seems new take their place… I’m hopeful seeing as how I now have all playable characters. Not so much interested in skins or decorations except maybe the whale for higher xp

Nope. What’s in there is always in there. As you win stuff comes out but nothing new goes in

Sorry if this was answered: does anyone know if the Mexican Duffman bundle also includes Duffman? It appears to contain the Duff Brewery. Will I end up with two Duff Breweries?
I had Duffman and the Brewery. When I got the Mexican Duffman Bundle it came with Mexican Duffman and Lady Duffman. If you have Duffman and the brewery already you won’t get a second one.
Has gotten all 737 items from the yearbook mystery box yet? Do any of the items remain in the box once you get everything?

Extremely helpful list, Alissa! I do find occasional things in my box that aren’t on the list, or on the list under a slightly different name so they aren’t as easy to find alphabetically. One thing not on the above list is “Mess Hall”, for which you did do a “Should I Buy”:

It’s on the list…
Some items are under different names (like the Magic Station is listed as Old English Station, because that’s how it’s titled in the files and on a list this long I went with how it’s listed in the files to save myself time), also some items have a longer name. If you’re not sure if it’s listed try searching the page (Ctrl + F) and typing in the word/phrase you’re looking for. In this case, a search of “Mess Hall” would have brought it up, even though it was listed under S for Spellementary Mess Hall, not M. (which I’m guessing is where you looked) 🙂
Thanks Alissa, you are correct that I looked under ‘M’ for Mess Hall, since that’s how it was listed in the Yearbook. I also checked ‘S’ for possibly “Springfield Mess Hall” but it wasn’t there, and I didn’t know it was a “Spellementary” item. And I read TSTO Addicts in a browser on my iPad since I play TSTO there, so Ctrl-F wasn’t an option, alas.

Does the yearbook mystery box ONLY show items I haven’t already got or can you get more than one of somethings?
I’ve not doen it as I have stuff in storage and didn’t want to get doubles.
There are doubles in there for some items.
Yep, Just spent some time making a spreadsheet of the Yearbook Mystery Box, it works as 5 different lists and they cycle independently and buying something it just removes it from that specific list.

This means that by studying that list it is possible to align the 5 items that you want and creating a simple helper app shouldn’t be hard.
I have picked up quite a few things from the yearbook. I am really happy with my new characters, and I have really built up my XP. However, I would have loved to see Sideshow Bob in there. I have done everything to activate him for ages, and I just can’t get him!
Never mind! I found weird melted versions of them in storage!
I got the Snowman Bundle as the reward, but then I never got to place it! Where did it go? Is it because it’s not winter anymore? Down 30 donuts. 🙁
You can place them, but they melt. Reappear in the winter. Not wasted donuts 😉

Also I noticed that the first item on the left is an ordered list, I mean, in my case, after 130 or so refreshes it cycles, and it cycles in the same order, haven’t paid attention to the other slots but they don’t line with the first (if they cycle, it is different than the first slot).

I just managed to get Barneys Bowl-a-Rama for 30 donuts from this mystery box! Thanks for the tip about checking what was showing in the 5- I didn’t realise this. I’m happy I’ve got such a bargain!

I haven’t seen the Evil Shopkeeper and Shop yet. It’s like the one thing I’d really like to get. I’ve already got the Krusty doll…could that be why it’s not showing up?
Also, has anyone figured out the Premium items (or at least characters) that AREN’T in the box? President Lisa isn’t there.
Edit: Nevermind…I don’t have the Doll yet. I guess I need to either keep cycling and buying to get it into rotation…
I got the shopkeeper through the yearbook and I have President Lisa. I thought I got her from there too but it may have been during the Justice Ham mini event
So far I have gotten two items in my Yearbook Mystery Box that don’t appear to be on this list – Santa Flanders (as a standalone skin), and Lucius Sweet (standalone character). Also, I don’t have many of the items on this list in my box at all – and yes, i did spend about half an hour once (while stuck on a bus) hitting refresh. I just saw the same maybe 100 items come up over and over, nowhere close to all of these. (And yes I know, some things don’t appear if you already have them, but I’m talking about things I don’t already have, from this list, and I have never ever seen in my box, despite playing with it every day since it first appeared.) So – is it possible that different people see different lists of things??
Did they finally pull the Mystery Box from the game? It was there this morning and I just purchase donuts to try for a few more items I wanted but no Mystery Box. Anything in the files about this?
It’s still there. Did you look in the Premium section of the store? I am assuming you did since you said you looked this morning. As of right now, it is still in my game.
This might be a dumb question but where is the premium store? I can’t find the year book anywhere.
