Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Murky water, tress have changed colors, and leaves are blowing in Springfield, that can only mean one thing…the annual Treehouse of Horror update is upon us! Yes, with this annual event we never know if we’ll get a trick or a treat, if it’ll be Halloween-y or spoof-y…but it arrives in our pocket-sized towns nonetheless year after year. And this year, marks the 10th…yes the TENTH…Treehouse of Horror update in TSTO. So what does EA have in store for us this year? Dinosaurs! In true Treehouse of Horror spoof style. As always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…
Once again we see another multi-event in Springfield. So love them, or hate them, they’re still here. So let’s all try to make the best of this…
Anywho….things kick off with a series of 6s tasks for Burns, Smithers, Dr. Hibbert, Dr. Nick, Frink, and Hank Scorpio (if you have them)…
After you’ve completed the initial task you’ll kick off the 2021 Treehouse of Horror Event!
First, remember this was an app store update available for download. So if you haven’t already done so, and you don’t see the Splash Screen above for your game, head to your app store and update TSTO. You may have to search the store for Tapped Out, as it doesn’t always appear on the update list initially…

Now on with the details for Act 1!
Here’s EA’s event synopsis:
When Mr. Burns’ youth serum treatments start losing their potency, Smithers assembles a team of scientists and doctors to pitch their best alternatives. Burns decides that a combination of Frink’s pitch involving dinosaurs, and Hank Scorpio’s pitch involving the elderly is the way to go. This leads to a hybrid clone of Grampa Simpson and a T-rex leading a bunch of dinosaurs on a rampage around Springfield.
The Springfielders try every crazy plan they can think of – military equipment originally built to fight Rigellians, animal-human hybrids, and even bringing the town’s giant advertising signs to life – but the dinosaurs cannot be stopped! Finally, Professor Frink determines the only way to stop Grampasaurus’ rampage is to shrink the Simpsons family down and inject them into the lumbering dinosaur leader so they can administer a special control chemical directly into his brain. Hey, makes as much sense as their other plans!
We should all know by now unless of course, you’re new to TSTO that the prizes for this event follow the same questline format to unlock as our regular mini-events do.
Just like every large event recently, this is not your typical Major Event. And there are pros and cons to that, and everyone will find their own pros and cons. And some people’s pro will be someone else’s con.
As always, I just ask that you have an open mind, and reserve judgment until we’re into the event. It’s 5 weeks long, it should be fairly easy to complete, you’ll unlock a bunch of new prizes and no crafting to grind through, so let’s just have some good old-fashioned TSTO fun! And, as long as you don’t rush things, you won’t get bored because it’ll change each week!
Here’s the event schedule:
Act 1 Starts October 6th (WEDNESDAY)
Act 2 Starts October 15th (FRIDAY)
Act 3 Starts October 24th (SUNDAY)
Act 4 Starts November 2nd (TUESDAY)
Event Ends November 10th, 2021 (WEDNESDAY)
As I stated above, the initial quests are 6s. Once completed you’ll start the Welcome to Geriatric Park questline, which is the Act 1 story to follow. This is how you’ll unlock the Act 1 prizes.
Note: Some of you have mentioned you are having trouble getting the event to start. You need to download the latest update and the requirements for this are: Level 15. It won’t trigger unless you’re there. And if you’re on level 15, but don’t have Mr. Burns unlocked (he unlocks at Level 11), you’re going to run into a lot of road blocks.
Everyone Old Is Old Again
Burns: Ah, Smithers, with autumn in the air, I’m once again reflecting on my mortality. Mostly how to avoid it.
Smithers: Sounds like someone needs another injection of bovine calf serum.
Burns: Sadly, no. There’s no calf young enough to renew my zip-zam-zoom.
Smithers: Don’t fret, sir. I’m sure Springfield’s greatest scientists and doctors have something up their lab coat sleeves.
Make Smithers Assemble a Team of Geniuses- 6s

Burns: Thirty?! I don’t want to go back to my baby rattle and diaper days!
Dr. Nick: I could offer my services. Plastic surgery is nifty!
Burns: I don’t care about looking good. I just want to live forever!
Dr. Nick: And you will! We replace one body organ at a time with plastic parts.
Burns: Tempting. But what else?
Frink: One word: Dino-saurs! Unless that’s two words. I’m not sure.
Burns: What do dinosaurs have to do with my quest for immortality?
Frink: They’re really cool. Plus, there are no regulations against experimenting on things that are extinct.
Burns: Eh…I’m not saying no. I’m saying “eh”. What about you, young man?
Hank Scorpio: Stealing youth from the young? That’s been done to death. I’m focusing my own research on the elderly. By extracting the elderly’s fear of death into an injectable formula, we could actually repel death!
Burns: Sounds like a lot of hogwash, but the elderly would be easier to keep caged than children.
Smithers: And they cost less than guinea pigs.
Burns: Very well, let’s roll the dice with dinosaurs and the elderly and see what happens.
And this triggers the entire story premise for each act…
(and yes, just like I did for the past multi-events, I’ll be posting full dialogue for this one before the next act starts)
Now let’s talk about what’s included…
Here’s the Act 1 Synopsis from EA:
Burns acquires the permits he needs to build a new Geriatric Park from Quimby and constructs the park. Burns invites the elderly to stay at the park, and they flock in to stay at the resort and see the dinosaurs. In spite of assurances that he would not be creating human-dinosaur hybrids, it turns out that of course he has in fact made a couple as part of his team’s research. The unexpectedly intelligent Grampasaurus frees himself and the other dinosaurs and leads them on a rampage of Springfield. Everyone other than Lisa is surprised by this turn of events.
DO NOT FORGET TO SCROLL UP AND DOWN IN THE TASK BOXES (PICTURED ABOVE) TO BE SURE TO COMPLETE ALL TASKS FOR EACH PART.

Each Act will have a new premium character that will earn event currency. From what I can see, based on the info from EA, characters will be used throughout the entire event. So Act 1 will be used in Act 2, 3, and 4…etc.

They are back! Although not immediately…
You will have to tap and clear dinosaurs with this event (similar to convicts with the last mini-event), but they won’t start showing up until Part 5 of the Welcome to Geriatric Park questline.
From what I can tell it looks like you’ll need to clear about 15 for various parts of the questline. Tapping more beyond the 15 doesn’t help you, as they don’t “bank” for future parts of the questline.

Slightly disappointed that although we get the spooky music, they’ve not done the atmosphere or water for this one. Always thought the changes for this and the winter events made them more fun and immersive.
My water is green (e.g., everything except the seaside) and although it is hard to distinguish, there are a few floating leaves from time to time. I remember one years back, that you are probably remembering, that had a much bigger fall leaf effect. The fall tree color is great though!
The leaves falling/blowing around this year are pretty subtle for sure!

Yeah what a Hot Mess Multi-Act Event (not one thing Halloween-ish! 🪦 except the Murky Waters and Spooky Music). The comments on the official TSTO Facebook Page are lol worthy …. EA just put a big 🎯 on themselves 🤣

Yikes people are way too sour about the theming, I already mentioned I was iffy when I first saw the splash screen on Wikisimpsons but scrolling down to see all the items I’m glad it’s stuff from multiple segments and not only Geriatric Park. Yeah the returning stuff and mystery box are bleh and they really should’ve had a separate store panel for non-Dino/zoo stuff and have stuff that hasn’t returned in a while on there. Similar to what they did in 2016 with that disappointing “Christmas” event, there was a “Holiday Bazzar” that had actual Christmas stuff. Also I guarantee everyone complaining isn’t even aware of the Jurassic Park parody in THOH 29 because they don’t watch modern ones.
We are aware of every THOH Episode and their Segments, some over the years have been great with their homage to Halloween 🎃 while others were kind of dumb (if EA is having their A$$ handed to them on Facebook? that’s what you get when you come up with a good idea …. each Act being a different THOH Segment …. then choose the dumbest ones …. and bring back non Halloween Content from Springfield Zoo and Crustaceous Park!) 🤣
Happy to have the zoo walls back. Now I can finish my zoo border from a few years ago when the zoo event hit.
…….and when you hit the item limit, you’ll be getting rid of a lot of those walls, and trees, and fences..etc….
Been playing for 9 years…still have yet to even get an item limit warning. (and I have a crap-ton of wailing walls in my Springfield)
I get it….just saying some people do hit those limits. We don’t need more land either….I bet some people have been playing 9 years and have plenty of land left. Some have been playing less and have no land left….but you win boss.

I am glad there is Zoo /. Aquarium Content available for Simpsons 💵 (not everything should cost 🍩’s), it’s “meh” for a Long Time Tappers but I am glad anytime Noobs get a chance to obtain Prior Content to build up their Springfield.
Same with habitat fencing, I’ve used that in other places in my Springfield display areas. I’m stocking up!
I’m excited for the event regardless of the theme just to get some fresh dialog and a storyline to follow for a month. And I’m ecstatic that EA brought back rocks! At the end of the old west event I was going to log in one more time and use up my remaining event currency on rocks to have an inventory of them. I got busy at work and didn’t have a chance to do so and I’ve lamented about it ever since. I don’t care that they cost donuts, I’m gonna buy a bunch of rocks! Thanks for the excellent coverage/introduction to the event!

Do we earn tokens on the price track, is the only way to get something from the mystery box to purchase a token? As it is, the only thing in my mystery box is the Heavenly Hills Mall, which I really don’t need, but I’m otherwise just curious as to how I could obtain it without purchasing a token?
Tokens cost 🍩’s my fellow Tapper … farm for them or purchase them with real 💰. Check and you will find returning Content for Simpsons cash (you just might find yourself being creative).

Basically, Act 1 in this Multi-Act Event is just EA phoning it in so that Noobs can obtain prior Content from the Springfield Zoo + Crustaceous Park (wow! what originally involved Crafting, now costs a ridiculous amount of 🍩’s …. you know what to do Noobs!) I actually have one item in the new Mystery Box (Triceratops Statue – I don’t remember it, but I’m not spending 60 🍩’s for Tokens to get it – lol!) 😅
I hope those who were having snafu’s yesterday solved them (I really don’t like seeing my Neighbors awol from this Game App, or bailing on it, you are all missed). I can definitely sit out Act 1 …. 🙄

The Heavenly Hills Mall is a limited-time Premium Building released on May 24, 2017, as part of the Forgotten Anniversary 2017 Promotion. It can be obtained by purchasing the Heavenly Hills Mall (Bundle) …. I’ve had it for years and I thought this was available in the Regular Mystery Box? 🤔

Thank you Alissa… that was a LOT of work! For those of you that are unhappy, please remember that they have already done all the familiar themes. In my 525+ characters I have Frankenstein, Dracula and their wives, the Rigellians almost took over, all the kids went to school in Hell, and near copyright infringement upon Harry Potter! If that isn’t enough I can unload my mimic-storage of all the NPC zombies, monsters, hell kids, pumpkin monsters, coffins, the trashcan that turns characters into zombies – – – and on and on. There are jack-o-lanterns at every door, the water is a great shade of green, the ominous music is playing, the leaves have turned great fall shades, and they even brought back the floating leaves. All in all, it’s a big hoot!
Great post very positive, now if ea came up with something to make all the kids go trick or treating that would be fantastic, with zombie Sandwich perrrfect
The NIghtmare Pile lets you send one child Trick or Treating. Many of us have been asking for years to allow all children to trick or treat at once. But, again, we’ve been ignored.
Plus the writers brought in a couple things Tappers have been wanting for ages- more content from The Island of Dr Hibbert and Attack of the 50ft Signs, two very classic THOH episodes.
Last year [at Christmas, very weirdly] all the kids from the Nightmare Pile had 4 hour individual tasks to go Trick or Treating. I haven’t checked yet to see if that came back.
Treehouse of Horror event is upon us… and I can’t even purchase a Jack-o-Lantern. “This is Halloween. This is Halloween. Halloween Halloween Halloween HALLOWEEN!” I suppose EA won’t enable snow in our Springfield for the Christmas/Holiday event? Possibly. Keep in mind not everyone has snow on the ground where they live. But we’ve come to expect it in Tapped Out. Long time fan… first time complainer. Keep up the excellent work Alissa.

For those Tappers who were complaining about the walls costing donuts, looks like the Stonecutter heiroglyph fence, if you have those in inventory, would also match if you flip them around.
Yet another wasted mystery box, I have at least three THOH collections not complete, but all I get is Heavey Hills Mall, something that has nothing to do with THOH? Also, I have had Holden Goose and land maxed for or a year, and these new XXL buildings are destroying my design, WE NEED MORE LAND!!
We do need a Land Expansion, I believe Tappers would probably spend $5 to obtain it (well I would). 9.7 years and they’re still plenty of Content I do not have …. and I’m just accepting that small dedicated EA Staff doesn’t realize many of us would spend sprinkles for it.
Character Dialogue is funny, we got Murky Waters and Spooky Music (we just need a better THOH Segment that represents Halloween 🎃 ).
I am just disappointed that there was no tiered mystery boxes, like they do on Black Friday or more THOH content in the 60 doughnut box. Especially if they want you to purchase doughnuts that I basically don’t even need anymore. Going on the fourth large event with 0-1 item. I was able to complete a few collections earlier, but I also want to finish designs. I am missing the Shinning Motel, and that has not appeared past a bundle I can’t get because of owning the Hedge. It’s decent to get Heavenly as is a key episode and goes with the Angel Skeleton, but that is literally the only content, other than new, that is unlocked. My Year Book and Goose has ran out a year ago, and it would be nice to see older content pop back up.

It’s not a huge list, but it’s enough that if they show up in a Black Friday Mystery Box ? I have plenty of 🍩’s (but like you said this Prior Content needs to actually be available, even if that means spending sprinkles to get Tokens).
The only thing I’ve got in my mystery box is the Heavenly Halls Mall… 🙂

The Character Dialogue is funny …. I’m sitting it out until Act 3 (Patric told Tappers years ago that it’s okay to just concentrate on the Content you vs trying to obtain all of the Content) I encourage everyone to have what fun they can … yes I offered up my constructive criticism (I will thank EA when I see Content that I like).
Ok, to err is human, I’m impressed with the event!! My only dissapointment: 15 bucks for a skin and a NPC?? Really?? For 10 bucks I’ll could consider the offer but not for 15. I’m very tempted to say no this time.
Yea I’m not thrilled on that myself. EA originally told us Test Subject Bart was a full character…which made the $10 justifiable to me. However at a skin it just makes me angry..

Our list came directly from EA, I didn’t verify in the files but it’s not the first time something was left off.

I reserved judgement until the event started. I’m quite happy!! The dialogue is terrific and off to a great start.
Yes, I miss the spooky dimming of Springfield, the clouds and spooky Halloween music. But this is consistent with THOH — so I’m all in.

Not excited about this event, I already have a Jurassic park with dinosaurs only bonus is having the tappable dinos roaming about. Still processing so we will see.

– Not a single great spooky building, decoration, character or skin on prize track.

It’s not a Halloween Update, it’s a TREEHOUSE OF HORROR UPDATE. It’s based on an actual THOH episode. Get mad at the writers of the Simpsons for writing an episode of THOH based on Jurassic Park…
To be fair? we got the Murky Waters + Spooky Music in the Game App (hey I appreciate that effort), but I share your lament … THOH Segments for each Act is an awesome idea, except Act 1 is Springfield Zoo + Moe’s Ark + Crustaceous Park (if you are as bummed as many Tappers are that this ain’t Halloween 🎃 ? post away at the official TSTO Facebook Page, and try not to be too brutal .. I encourage playful heckling because I don’t want anyone to get in trouble on Facebook).
What’s the deal with the 200 donut “Bonus: Upgrades” of the various zoo bundles? What does this get for people who already have the original bundles? (sorry if you’ve already answered this elsewhere) Thanks!
Nothing…it’s the same thing from the Moe’s Ark Event.
I don’t know what you mean by your response. For example, if I already have a zoo, and purchase the bundle for 200 donuts, I have nothing to show for it, e.g. no increase in Bonus XP percentage? Is it just a bunch of stuff that doesn’t earn anything?

With this update, EA added single person 24 hour tasks for Gravedigger Billy, Mozart, CHUM, and Retired Homer!
Nothing for Baby Marge or Virgil Simpson yet.

If you are lucky and EA offers up the Nativity Scene Parade Float? All of the Simpsons have 16 Hour Character Tasks on it (including Maggie Simpson).
Baby Marge has a joint 24hr task with Ling, if you have her. I always have to remember to tap them both out and then put Baby Marge on the 24Hr task before all the others.
So I spent real money, serious hours, and waited patiently to earn donuts to spend for the Halloween event. I was so excited to add to my growing town. Wow, really, dinosaurs? That’s the best you could come up with? I was expecting Halloween…..ghosts, devil’s, hauntings, scary stuff, and I get dinosaurs? So….will save my donuts and hopefully get a good Christmas event.
This is the 10th THOH event…a lot of those concepts have been done already.
