Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

No new Simpsons this week, still a few weeks until a new episode airs.  BUT if you’re looking for some episodes to catch up on in preparation for this week’s potential Around the World Event here are a few to check out from Wookiee’s Prognostication post…

Showoff Announcement: Lunar New Year

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time…calling all Springfield designs of Chinese New Year Proportions!  We’re getting read to do the next Springfield Showoff featuring what you’ve done with all of the Chinese New Year stuff!  So prep those towns…because we want to see what you’ve done with your Springfield!

The Next Showoff will feature your Lunar New Year stuff so show us what you’ve got!  Send in your areas of Chinese New Year designs from your Springfield and we’ll be putting up the Showoff Post, featuring your designs, on SATURDAY February 4th 2017.

Here’s my design…although I took these pictures before the Rooster was awarded so it’s not in this one. But i’ll be adding it to this area:

So grab some screenshots of your town, or finish up those designs…just make sure to send your submissions in by about 8pm EDT Friday February 3rd. Can’t wait to see what YOU have come up with.

You can send your designs in two ways…either post a link to the image in the comments on this post or you can email them to us at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com.  We won’t be pulling images from anywhere else, so please if you want to be featured either submit in the comments below or email your images to us.

Note: PLEASE try to limit your submissions to only 1-2 of your favorite screenshots.  We like to try and let everyone showoff their town but it becomes difficult when some of you are sending in 7-10 images.  Pick your favorite areas and send them in (or if you stitch photos together, that works too).  We’ll try our best to get EVERYONE in, but please understand that sometimes we miss a photo or two.  If we miss you one week, we’ll try really hard to make sure we get you in the next week.  You’re always welcome to showoff your town, at any time, on our Flickr page.  We know a lot of you have awesome towns that you want to show off, but please try to stick with this week’s theme.  Remember, this isn’t a contest.  There’s nothing to win.  It’s just a fun way to showoff your town and get some design inspiration from your fellow Addicts.  🙂

Addicts Live Annoucement…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just dropping in with a quick announcement about the next Addicts Live…..

addicts-liveMark your calendars because the next episode of Addicts Live will be airing Next Saturday (February 4th) at noon EST (for timezone converter check here).  At this point we’ll start doing twice a month episodes…

The next episode will feature thoughts and a breakdown of the Lunar New Year Event, we’ll discuss initial thoughts on the next event, make predictions about “the big game” next week and of course we’ll be fielding your questions. So be sure to tune in and join the fun!

And of course we’re continuing to work to make sure we’re 45 minutes or less for each show!

And those of you that can’t make the live stream, don’t worry a recording of the video will be up for your viewing pleasure after the stream is over.  So you’ll be able to catch the re-run. 🙂

Oh and if you missed any episodes of Addicts Live! you can catch up on them here.

Remember, this is meant to be interactive.  So you’ll be able to ask us questions and comment as we’re live right in the comment section here!

And if you can’t make the live stream, but still have a question you want to ask you may do so in the comments of this post or by emailing us at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com.

And remember, you don’t have to ask us personal questions.  Your question can be about anything TSTO related or not.  Need help with something in your Springfield?  Have a design question?  Stuck on a questline?  Ask away!

As far as what you’ll need for the live stream?  Well nothing different!  No new program to sign up for.  Just check out TSTO Addicts on Saturday February 4th and watch for the Addicts Live post around noon.  From there you’ll be able to directly play the stream…as if you were watching a regular embedded YouTube video!  Nice and simple!

Is New Year’s Over-Celebrated? The view from a CrankyOldGuy

Here we go again…another way to celebrate New Years on a different date, with yet more traditions that beg the question, “Why???”  What’s so great about another new year when it doesn’t even fall on New Year. Unless it does…but does it?

Let’s start by making the distinction between those who celebrate the New Year with the start of the Gregorian Calendar and those who apparently have never met Greg, and are willing to celebrate willy-nilly (with no real deference to Groundskeeper Willie), on random dates that are somewhere in between other dates, yet to be determined by the sun and the moon.

Case in point. The current update which is celebrating the Chinese New Year…which follows the Lunar Calendar and is actually called Yuan Tan and can happen anytime between mid-January and mid-February. It can last up to 15 days (undoubtedly using soup as its main food group) and culminates in the exchange of money in red envelopes for good luck.  Nothing says “lucky” like soup and money. But, as I am writing this, my wife has reminded me that the soup is actually Wonton, and NOT Yuan Tan, but the money part is accurate, even though the day it is celebrated every year changes. See why I’m confused?

But there’s more to this New Year’s mess….MUCH more!

Chinese New Year is nearly upon us and the Simpsons are all about celebrating to earn a clean slate for the new year! So let’s clean house and pile up those donuts because there’s a store full of new Chinese New Year themed premium items just tempting us to spend sprinkles on them!

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks as awesome as this because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Throwing Back Seasons with the Fuzzball – Season 2 (Plus “The Great Phatsby”)

Hey hey there friends!

So… in case you missed it last week… we launched a new feature on the site where I do an audio recap of Seasons of The Simpsons plus new episode reviews and whatever other stuff comes out of my mouth. Basically it’s all The Simpsons stuff from the weekly podcast I do. With Totbox on a hiatus from the amazing Throwback posts that I’ve come to love, this is my way of keeping some sort of throwback going and while I’ll miss the hilarity that is Totbox covering episodes of the Best. Show. Ever., I like this format. Shoutout to Alissa for even thinking of this amazing example of the power of double dipping. NOTE: Do not double dip Cheetos… not a good example.

TSTO New Facebook Teaser..What’s Coming Next?!

EA has just released (well ok an hr or so ago at this point…sometimes real life gets in the way of tapping ;)) a new Teaser for TSTO.

It looks like our own Wookstradamus prognosticated correctly!  It appears as if we’ll be getting an Around the World event in our games very soon!  (as if the Chinese New Year theme didn’t already tip many of us off 😉 )
