Where did THAT come from – Golden Calf

I can see clearly now the mist has gone… I can see all decorations in my way… happy to not have ghosts to pop away…. gonna be a bright, bright, bright and Springfieldy day!

Everyone happy for the end of Halloween and a new update?  I know I am.  The future in my town is so bright I gotta wear shades lol.  Ok… I promise I’m done with pop culture references (for now).  Time to wade back in for another round of where things come from.  For this post, we have to go biblical or at least in a Simpsons kind of way for the Golden Calf Idol.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of this decoration other than many a Sunday school lesson from childhood is Kevin Smith’s Dogma and Mooby the Golden Calf.

Mooby the Golden Calf

Although I know this has nothing to do with The Simpsons, they do pay homage to his directing genius in an episode I just re-watched for a completely different post.  Season 14, Episode 17: Three Gays of the Condo.  The Simpsons family has just completed an epic crossword puzzle:

“This is the only thing worth-while I’ve ever made that wasn’t Lisa.”

Maggie looks upset and Homer replies, “Prove me wrong, Silent Bob!”

Ok, I digress.  In Level 37 of TSTO, CBG tells us that the Golden Calf Idol comes from a discontinued dance show called Twerkcules and the Golden Calf.  I’m here to tell you not to waste your time looking for this reference.  Here at Addicts we’ve got you covered.

In Season 2, Episode 13: Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment (an Emmy award winning episode), the entire plot revolves around stealing.  Homer gets illegal cable and Lisa is conflicted about it.

This episode is set up immediately after the couch gag with a flashback to Mt. Sinai 1220 B.C.

Moses is above receiving the Ten Commandments.  Meanwhile, Hezron the Idol Carver is visited by Homer the Thief.  As Homer talks to Hezron, he steals miniature replicas of Hezron’s Golden Calf every time his back is turned.

Zohar the Adulterer joins the conversation between the two gents and Moses returns with the Ten Commandments.  Moses (voiced by Phil Hartman) reads off three poignant commandments from the ten denouncing worshiping idols, adultery and stealing.

For the uninitiated, the eight commandment is “Thou Shall Not Steal”.  You may recognize our new decoration from these screenshots.  CBG obviously just wanted to join in all the Miley bashing.

This decoration unlocks during Weekend Dad Part 13.  Avoid the urge though to spend the 30 donuts on it… good things come to those that wait (I PROMISE).

Although sort of a strange decoration, it could have been worse.  Our Golden Calf could have been of Brad Goodman.

Well… hope this enlightened you a skoshi.  TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. I can’t wait until I’m at a level to get it…only lev 25, but I’ll get there!

    • It’s a different dec for sure. I’ll probably put mine near the church for irony.

    • Nothing wrong with being behind. As a new level drops, all the buildings in the previous up to 5 level go down in price til they hit their base cost. So, you may be behind…but you’re spending less money on some items. Lol
