I have to admit it…I had to go deep into Google to figure out who the heck Diane was. And going Google Deep is a scary thing sometimes. You have to be careful how you search. TSTO Diane can bring up all sorts of things that don’t make a lot of sense. Especially if you misspell TSTO. But, I digress…
Turns out the Diane is a “Big Wig” at Krustylu studios…or was. The WIKI tells us that, “She and the other executives wanted to cancel Krusty and replace it with Homer’s show. She is the one who fired Jeremy. And everyone remembers Jeremy…right?
OK. Fine. Just be glad that you got her for free. Here’s the details on why she is not going to be breaking the glass ceiling any time soon. Continue reading →
Happy Saturday! Hope everyone is going to enjoy their weekend, I know I will as long as the rain holds off!
Act 1 of the Itchy and Scratchy Land will be ending this coming Wednesday (so 4 days from now) at 10am ET…here’s what you should be doing to get ready for Act 2 to start. Following these tips will help give you a head start when Act 2 launches…
I’m writing this early (Thursday) because I’m going to be on the road Today (not actually today, but Friday…which is when you are reading this…so it’s still today, kinda…). I am heading out to a golf tournament/college reunion with a bunch of my old football team buddies (those who still remember playing before they started diagnosing CTE). It should be a wonderful chance to roll out the traditional greeting for reunions, “You’re OLD! No…YOU’RE Old!!”
I’m old. I don’t mind admitting it. My white hair and creaky body (did I mention I played college football, and then rugby until I was 35?), reminds me every day. But, that doesn’t stop me from being active mentally…right?
And, as it pertains to TSTO…that means being active in the game…active in design…and resolving to keep powering through, no matter what the game throws our way! Unless it makes us grind to a dead halt…which I’ll talk about later.
This whole “KrustyItchyScratchyLand (or KISLand as one of our community suggested) Post Nuke Era,” has people clearly divided into two camps. Those who have attacked the opportunity to put on their Uber-Design-Hats, and those who seemingly have been rendered immobile by the overwhelming possibilities.
It has created a reality of “Designers – vs – Ploppers.” And there is a Whole Lotta Ploppin’ Goin’ On!
OK. I get it. As much as Itchy and Scratchy shred one another (apparently, because the HAVE to), they probably need a Nurse around full time.
But, I have to say it…this “Nurses Station” looks a heck of a lot like one of the canal houses we got in the last major event. As in A LOT. Paint it a different color….slap a mini-portrait of the boys doing mayhem to one another…and BOOM! Canal house is a Nurses Station.
But, I’m sure some of you are going to want it. In fact…some of you are going to want more than one! Right??
I believe my prediction for this major event was, “it’s gonna be a game-changer.” Like calling something “interesting,” the term “game-changer” can mean almost anything…good or bad. And in my opinion, that pretty much covers it. This is some good, with a handful of bad thrown in.
Let’s start with the fact that most people don’t like change. Moving, a death in the family, changing jobs…these all sit at the top of the “stress meter” when it comes to adjusting in life. And in many ways, nuking Krustyland, along with the myriad little changes that came with it, were a combination of all of these. There is was certainly death. There was the stress of packing up and moving. And, there are myriad new jobs, and ways of dealing with old jobs, that have been forced upon us.
All of this requires adjustments…even if some of the new changes are ultimately for the better. And, there are a couple of them that are clear improvements over the “old way.”
Let’s break down some tips that will help you maneuver the changes, without losing your collective minds. Continue reading →
I was totally ready to write one of the most scathing, loathsome, vitriolic rants ever. I had it composed in my head, and it kept me up half of the night with anxiety over blowing up our new “friendship” with EA.
And then, I got the text from Alissa…at 4:44 in the morning Thursday (it’s OK. I was up already…seething)– Ebron says EA increased limit overnight…11,600 now.
Like a missile operator, with his finger poised over the red button during the Cuban Missile Crisis…I was THAT CLOSE to going full blown Dr. Strangelove on the EA programmers.
And then, I got the text. Then I re-read my post from last week, telling everyone to “chillax” reminding everyone that “it’s just a game,” and that “real life is way more important.” And then, I felt foolish. Mostly.
But, you have to understand how these things get started. It all has to do with trust, and trying to do the right thing, and new relationships with official NDAs and virtual slaps on the back for the good times to come…which turns into what appears to be the fustercluck of the century…with no real warning…because you ASSUMED that EA would be smarter than that. (but remember…Assume makes an Ass out of U and Me! Right?).
Itchy and Scratchy Land hit are games yesterday and wowsers is this event full of issues or what?! Reminds me of the “old days” of TSTO, back when every event promised to be Simpson filled and bug riddled. For those of us who played TSTO between 2012-2015, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
It’s been relatively calm in the world of TSTO, when it comes to bugs, for the last couple of years. Sure there have been a few…and the rollback one is a HUGE one…but it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as it was a few years ago. Well…Itchy and Scratchy (always looking to destroy something) sure changed that!
From reading your comments, and boy have you guys been commenting the last 24hrs, the general consensus is the vast majority of you are pretty pissed off. Whether it’s your game freezing, your game lagging, you’re just generally pissed they eliminated Krustyland or something else there’s a lot of ticked off Addicts around here! So let’s get to some of your general complaints and see if we can help you fix some of the issues you may be experiencing…
