Act 3 of The Van Houtens is upon us. Time to get popular!
The Van Houtens Event follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it. This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting just over a week (10 days) and taking us through a new part of the event!
For Act 3 we’re tasked with collecting Sjoelbak Discs! Each part of the story will unlock another prize themed for the second part of the story. So let’s take a look at the details behind Act 3 and the Turbo Tappin’ Version for The Most Popular Girl in School…
Note: Sorry guys, I was running around this morning and quickly put this up without logging into my game. That’ll teach me to post without checking in-game. Always do it, and the one time I don’t it bites me in the butt. Anyway, Gil is back in Springfield as well…
I’ll have a breakdown post on this in the coming days. But do note that Secretary Van Houten does NOT earn event currency. And Marine One earns 4.25% bonus on cash and XP.
Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Happy Sunday! Feel free to consider this your Open Thread.
Who’s ready for more Van Houten fun? Act 3 of the Van Houtens has arrived!
Remember, this Act will still be playable until the event ends on September 16th. However, Act 4 will start on September 8th (note the Tuesday start date).
Things kick off for Act 3 with some dialogue between the kids of Springfield Elementary and Milhouse…
Lewis Clark: Hi, Milhouse. Can I come to your birthday party this weekend? Milhouse: Sherri and Terri got the last two spaces. Lewis Clark: But they’re in line behind me. Milhouse: They made their reservation using the Milhouse Birthday Attendance App. Lewis Clark: Then why are they in line? Sherri and Terri: Suspenders and a belt, fellah. Can’t take any chances on getting shut out. Bart: Milhouse, didn’t you just have a birthday party? And why are you standing behind a maître d’s podium? Milhouse: Pfft. That birthday party was pre-Annika. I’ve got so many requests to hang out now, I’ve had to schedule multiple birthday party “reenactments” through the end of the month. Lewis, would you take the late seating two weeks from Friday? Lewis Clark: I guess I’ll have to.
This triggers the Act 3 questline, The Most Popular Girl in School, and is followed by 4hr tasks for Bart and Milhouse, as well as a task to collect Act 2 Currency (105). The Most Popular Girl In School is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of this Act’s prizes.
Let’s take a look at what else is in store during Act 3…
I have made no attempt to hide the fact that the primary reason I still write for TSTO Addicts long after the game has gone into decline, is because of the work that this site does to support the Buyijja Village School in rural Uganda. It is one of those things that is “outside the box” of TSTO, and all about the community we have created here.
I have not done a fundraiser for the school since January, as like the rest of the world, conditions have been in an uncertain state since Covid-19 hit. But, recent developments have pushed us back into action, and we need your help.
The facts are simple. All of the amazing progress we have made in almost 6 years, with the more than 250 students in Buyijja and outlying villages that attend the school, has been halted, and the kids are now without any real alternatives for education. The government’s solution is “remote learning” using TVs and Radios to be distributed to villages. One small problem…most rural villages (including Buyijja) have no electricity or other modern conveniences. So…a different solution is required.
It was six years ago, just after the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs bracket was complete that I thought it might be cool to do a The Simpsons Tapped Out bracket. Here we are in the oddest of NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs of all times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and it’s time for our sixth TSTO Addicts Bracket Battle!
How much longer EA can keep Tapped Out going is up for debate. But what isn’t debatable is that there have been A LOT of incredible guest stars appearing as themselves in the rich history of The Simpsons universe. A rare few of these (like Stephen Hawking and Weird Al) have made their way into our games. However, hundred are still not in our little game. There is so much in fact, that it was hard just to narrow it down to 64 entries to start with. I thought of making the Bracket Battle start with 128 entries, but we’d be battling well into fall. With that in mind, we present to you TSTO Addicts’ Most Desired Real Life Celebrity Bracket Battle.
Well…as you may or may not remember, a year ago I started a massive remodel of our house, with almost top to bottom remaking of the kitchen, two bathrooms, and flooring throughout the entire first floor main living area (family room, kitchen, bathroom, dining room, living room, stairs).
I have done all of the work myself…and with everything that has gone on during that year, find myself a bit awe-struck that I am not actually done yet (I still have an entire back deck tear apart and rebuild). But, then again, as I have also found out, once you start remodeling, and your wife is the primary “contractor” and you are “the worker,” you are never really done. All of the new, makes any of the old look shabby by comparison. And, even worse, that damn HGTV channel is still on the air, giving “the contractor” more ideas.
But, absolutely the worst part…is the massive land fill that now must be hauled off in a dumpster, along with decisions on what to do with the rest. Clutter…thy name is Patric. I admit it. I hate to throw away anything.
AND, to the point of this post…WE FACE THE SAME DECISIONS IN TSTO. “Keep…store…or sell.” Continue reading →
First, a very special Happy Birthday to the baby Addict! He’s officially 2 today! Dang that went fast!
Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming…
IMPORTANT NOTE:Act 3 is slated to start SUNDAY, August 30th. Act 2 (and Act 1 for that matter) isn’t going anywhere, so if you didn’t finish it you’ll still have time to. Look for Act 3 to start around 11am ET. (1500 UTC)
You’ll need Bart and Milhouse free for the first round of tasks (and those earning event currency). Also, 1 new premium character combo will be released. 150 donuts for the combo.
Everything’s coming up Milhouse! Last year we had The Flanders’s this year we have the Van Houtens!
Act 2 of this multi-event ushered in one new premium character to help navigate the start of this event. Milhoose is an all-new premium character for Springfield, who not only helps earn event currency (throughout the entire event) but also comes with a short questline.
So let’s take a look at the full dialogue for Loove At First Sight…
Time for another fun and exciting event prize post! This time around, more decorations…oh boy! Act 2 consists of 3 new decorations, 1 Mystery Box Token, and 1 new costume. Please, tried to contain your excitement…
So let’s take a look at the final Act 2 prize on the Van Houtens Prize Track: Cool Milhouse…
Well, spending actual cash on donuts for a character is back in TSTO. This is something EA’s been rolling out over the last few years, and it’s a new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them) Where they attach a premium, limited-time, character to one of the donut bundles in addition to bonus donuts.
This time around we’re being offered Muscular Milhouse, a premium character (NOT a costume), for a truckload of 300 Donuts ($19.99 in the US)..no bonus this time around. While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of Muscular Milhouse, his tasks, questline and other details you may be curious about.
So let’s consider this an abbreviated Should I Buy….
