Hey Tapperinos!

It’s been basically a week since Addicts announced the TSTO Addicts Tapped Out Spooky 2D Contest! Already we have 4 submissions to the contest and hopefully in the next 11 days, we will see many more.

During discussions at Team Addicts, we’re always trying to figure out ways to reward our readers. Whether it’s a competition with donuts, ect. as prizes, how-tos for 2D/3D, answering comments, we all really just want this to be an entertaining and drama-free destination for all your TSTO needs.

Two weeks ago, I threw up a 2D Challenge for our readers. We had two winners and their prize was a 2D of their choice by Bunny and myself. Laura Mac got to choose my 2D and to my sheer and utter joy, she picked Jedi Master Yoda (hence this post title) for me.

My excitement could probably be described as a Fangasm and once I found the time I felt appropriate for my little green friend, I started on my memorial for him. As a long-time friend of the Wookiees, this had to be awesome or I just might be deported from my home planet (not to mention disappoint a fellow Addict).

I found this awesome image and got to work. For this 2D, I used shrubs ($25), benches ($270), shrubs ($135), snapdragons ($270), [boardwalk] fences (270), boardwalk benches ($325) and shrubs ($220). For simplicity, I listed the decorations as they appear in the decorations menu from left to right.

Ok… I zoomed in on this image on my computer and got started. Initially started north by south but preferred the other direction. You can see I started at the top. This is just the way I usually do them. It doesn’t really matter where you begin in the grand scheme.

Next, I laid out the image using snapdragons for black, the $135 shrubs for dark green and the $25 shrubs for the light green (my Mom tells me it’s teale lol).

At this point, I started playing with the $220 shrubs for the other light green. Due to size constraints with these, I once again used the $25 dollar shrubs to fill in color.

The next image is a good example of what I think of as a FAIL. I thought the lawn chairs might look cool in the eyes but didn’t like it one bit. (Bug ugly even)

It might seem like transferring a pixellated image is easy, but the angle of the TSTO display can add some challenges. In addition, TSTO decorations aren’t as simple to place as I’d like. I found a couple disconnects during the process and made some of my own tweaks to the design. Now it was time to do Master Yoda’s clothes. I laid down the snapdragons for the black pixels first.

I knew the clothing from the image would be nearly impossible with TSTO decorations so I decided to just wing the rest using the boardwalk benches for dark brown, benches for light brown, and boardwalk fences for his cane.

Here’s my finished product!

Just kidding. That was just a doodle I did of Yoda from another image lol.

Here’s the real deal with the original inspiration for comparison as well as a pic of Yoda from Wookieepedia (aka the Star Wars Wiki) that I believe is really similar.

HOPE YOU LIKE YOUR 2D LAURA MAC!!!

Rewarding for me this 2D exercise was! Since I’m usually telling folks that this way of 2D design is the easiest, it was refreshing to try my hand at it using a complicated image. I’m big in to practicing what you preach and know this one has only made me better.

Well, this Wookiee is off to explore. Don’t forget to enter the TSTO Addicts Tapped Out Spooky 2D Contest!

ENTER YOU SHOULD… DONUTS THE PRIZES ARE…
