Addicts How To: Buying Land

Hello hello Addictereenos!

I hope everyone is having as much fun possible with this very different Medieval Event we have going on in TSTO right now.  With new levels, there’s lots of new stuff that comes with it and this time… WE ACTUALLY GOT MORE LAND.  You asked and EA answered.

The last time EA gave us land was way back during Halloween 2013 and here at TSTO Addicts, we’ve been seeing quite a few questions about buying it.  Makes me think EA drug their programming feet so long we may have all forgotten how we bought land once upon a time.  Seeing a possible need for a quick tutorial, I figured I’d just pop in with a refresher for young and old tappers a like.  Click more if you need the help.

NOTE: There’s also an image of all the available land currently in the game tight at the start of the post if that’s your bag.

I find your lack of 2D faith disturbing (The Vader 2D)

Wookiee: Lord Vader, this is an unexpected pleasure. We are honored by your presence…
Darth Vader: You may dispense with the pleasantries, fuzzball.  I’m here to put you back on schedule.
Wookiee: I assure you, Lord Vader. My cheetos encrusted fingers are working as fast as they can.
Darth Vader: Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate you.

Well hey there Addicts.  What a week it’s been.  So, courtesy of a request from my sister’s beautiful friend who is a tapper and also wanting to wave my Star Wars nerd flag a little, I decided I wanted to do a 2D illustrating my love for the epic saga.  Easy peezy… Darth Vader sounded like a fun idea. Addicts How To: Take A Clean Image/Picture

Hey there Hoppy Tappers. Bunny jumping on by with another few quick tips in taking a good/clean picture to add to your collection, show off, download to Flickr, make a giant stitched image, etc.

We get many submissions daily to all of our outlet resources. Some I REALLY like, but they can be a little hard to see everything that is cool going on in the pictures at times with all the extra stuff going on in forefront (ie: the menu items). To make a clean image, it is just a matter of waiting a few more seconds BEFORE you take that screenshot to allow for the information and menu items to disappear from the screen (if you are in your movement screen, the information won’t disappear). This makes it easier also if you want to use any images for stitching apps or just to stitch in general. (As far as taking a screenshot, you can click the link HERE for more info.)

Pic with menu items…

After waiting approx 30 seconds for menu items to disappear…

I understand that for some devices this may be difficult due to the button you press may make the menu items reappear or the volume icon to show.

So there you go, a simple thing to do to make your images all nice and pretty so everyone can see all the cool stuff going on.

3D 101: The Mega Prison

What’s up Addicterinos?  How’s Level 38 treating you?  Feeling burdened by all the “legal” stuff that came with it?  Yeah… me neither.

Love them or hate them, every country has its very own Legal/Justice system and it really should be no surprise that our very own Springfield is no exception. Sure there may be only 3 cops, one lawyer and one judge right now, but there are no fewer than 6 characters that can spend time in jail or prison.  With that ratio, I’d could see the potential for Springfield’s Justice System to become overburdened and I thought I’d take action.  You’ve probably seen this before, but here’s my Springfield Mega Prison….

Addicts Blast from the Past: Building A Better Springfield

This was originally posted back in early September 2013 but we thought some of the newer Tappers joining after the Halloween Update could use some insight on just how to build a better Springfield.

Envious of your friend’s Springfield’s? Wish your Springfield looked as cool as theirs? Well, we’re in-between updates right now, so while there is a little lull in the game why not consider reworking your town to build a better Springfield?!

Here’s the Addict’s Guide to Building a Better Springfield:

It’s All Good In The Hood: Consider The Neighborhood

House farming does have its perks, if you do it right. While I’m not a house farmer myself (come on EA give us more houses!) I do have neighbors who are. When done right house farming can make your Springfield look like it has nice neighborhoods where people would want to live. Don’t just stick houses here and there around Springfield, and don’t stack them all up on top of each other either. Consider your placement of each house, and how it will fit in a neighborhood setting.
Tip: Keep all of the ‘special houses’ together (Flanders, Simpsons, Wiggum, Skinner, etc) and keep the other houses together, in multiple number (Purple House, White House, Brown House, etc).

Location Location Location: Consider What Your Central Springfield Is

Your Central Springfield is the part of your Springfield that shows up the moment you and your friends open your town. First impressions are everything, so you want to have a really great Central Springfield that will make your neighbors want to look for more! If you don’t have an exciting Central Springfield your friends might not get excited to see the rest.
Tip: Some people like to put the Simpson’s house in the center of their Springfield, while others prefer a part or Town Hall. Try to put your best decorated building/decoration in your Central Springfield and keep up with it. You really want something that’s going to wow your friends!

Hardscape/Landscape: Consider Your Landscaping

Try to landscape each building. Think about how it would look in real life and be creative!
Tip: Check our our 2D design page for more ideas!

What’s In A Theme: Consider A Theme for Each Building

Think:  ‘If this building existed in real life, what would it look like” and try to create a theme around that thought. For example, Kamp Krusty would be in the woods surrounded by trees, water, and maybe some cabins. So design your Kamp Krusty area to include a lot of trees and shrubs, a river or lake, and maybe through in some Brown houses for the cabin look!
Tip: Keep up with the theme you’ve created for each building. Landscape when you can, and try to keep it in line with your design plan.

Park It: Consider Building A Park

Try and think outside the box here. Don’t just stick use buildings everywhere to take up space.  Utilize the decorations available and make a park. Use the table, gazebo, swing set, monkey bars and all possible trees and other forms of flowers and greenery to create a dedicated Springfield Park. Hey EA even gives you a Springfield Park sign to help make it happen!
Tip: Keep a theme to your park, and dedicate areas of it for specific things. For example keep the Monkey Bars, Swing Set, and Seesaw together to create a play area of your park!

Be A Simpsons Addict: Consider How Springfield Would Look

Follow The Simpsons a little bit and try setting your Springfield like it would look on the show!  It’s fun to see how things are on the Simpsons in relation to where you put them in your Springfield!

To another winner, I leave my 2D Iguana, Jub-Jub.

Selma: Oh, Jub-Jub
Patty: When I went to pick him up, Mom was trying to stab him with a hat pin.
Hello again folks!  Wookiee back with another art project for 2D Tuesday.  This particular one was earned by Reader Minicha a long time ago (September-ish) for guessing where the title of one of my posts came from.
She requested a 2D of Jub-Jub.  What’s a Jub-Jub?  Check out this post here for that ramble.
I started this 2D during the Halloween festivities in my B Town so my apologies for the mist in most pics.  The first thing you have to do with any 2D is pick an image.

3D 101: Outdoor Theater

Hey there Addicterinos!

Bunny apparently got grounded in the basement so I get to show you how to make a 3D this week.  There really is nothing quite like using decorations to “trick” the eye into believing there is something extra.

For this week.  I’m gonna show you the build process for an outdoor theater.

How To-Set Up Flickr

NO! I did NOT say to flick her…I said Flickr. What is it? Well just you sit tight right there and I will explain in the longest winded, stuffed up story I possibly can. 😛

Flickr is a great way to be able to upload and share pictures with other friends, sites, and groups…like TSTO Addicts (hint hint). 🙂

I will be taking you through a few processes on Flickr. How to set it up, how to add photos, then how to share those photos. Let’s get started.

3D 101- H.S. Football Field

Well hello there all you crazy people. Did you miss me yet? NO??!!! Pssssh. LIES. You know you did. 🙂

Well since I think the majority of the Halloween Event is running down, the Level 36 surprise just smacked us upside our heads, and it is getting to that time where a lil fun should be had. So I am sneaking back in (shhhhh don’t tell Alissa and El Hefe I got out of the basement) and dropping another 3D 101 in all your laps. Don’t drop it, OK?

Perhaps some day, you will be ready. Until then, Mogwai waits.

“The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas.  Oh, God.  It was so horrible.  It was Christmas Eve.  I was 9 years old.  Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work.  A couple hours went by.  Dad wasn’t home.  So Mom called the office.  No answer.  Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing.  So the police began a search.  Four or five days went by.  Neither one of us could eat or sleep.  Everything was falling apart.  It was snowing outside.  The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire.  That’s when I noticed the smell.  The firemen came and broke through the chimney top.  And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird.  And instead they pulled out my father.  He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit.  He’d been climbing down the chimney… his arms loaded with presents.  He was gonna surprise us.  He slipped and broke his neck.  He died instantly.  And that’s how I found out there was no XXXXX XXXXX.” ~ Gremlins, 1984

Ok… that’s not a real story from my life but in my Springfield, it is always Christmas lol.  I blocked those last two words just in case any of y’all have tiny tapper buddies.  So… I’ve been slacking lately on doing 2D with all the Halloween shenanigans to mess with, but today I decided to get off my DUFF and make some art.

A little while back, one of my buddies over at Tapped-Out.co.uk. did me a favor and I promised him a 2D just for him.  I planned on doing a Simpsons Gremlin for Otto Mann (aka Chris J.) to ram his bus in to but found out this was already done by another one of my 2D peeps.  Well, what to do now?  The other Gremlins are too scary for TSTO, right?  Well, I went out on the internet and found a pretty great image I wanted to do.
