‘Are You Sure You Want To Do That?’ Setting the Confirm Donut Spend Button:

Ever hit a speed up task button by mistake? How about accidentally making a silly donut purchase in the store because you tapped the wrong thing?
No one is perfect, and neither is this game. From time to time you or the game are going to make a mistake. Usually those mistakes are quick fixes, but ones that really hurt are mistakes or errors made with donuts.
As the premium currency in the game errors that occur with donuts can not only cost you time but real world cash as well!
Here’s a way that you can prevent those “D’oh” moments in your game.
There’s a setting in the game now that sends a prompt to you for confirmation that you really want to make that donut purchase. Setting the Confirm Donut Spend button can really save you a lot of time and aggravation (not to mention cash!) when playing the game.

Update: The menus have been changed with the launch of Halloween 2014…below is the NEW way to set your Confirm Donut Spend button.

Here’s how you do it:

-From your Krustyland or Springfield Screen tap the Build Menu Button

-When the store opens, tap the cog wheel in the top right corner:

-Change the Confirm Donut Spend option to “Yes” and Close out of it:

Now every time you make a donut purchase it will prompt you if you’re sure.
Note: If you play across multiple devices you have to change this setting on each device, not just the account.

How awesome is it that that Level 33 includes Arnie Pye?! Not only that but his helicopter is included as well! Despite being a premium character Arnie is still a pretty reasonable pick up at only 85 donuts.

Should I Spend Donuts On Arnie Pye?

Level 33 is here (woohoo!) and with it comes the much anticipated Arnie Pye. I’m sure you’re asking “Should I Spend Donuts On This?” Well before you hit that confirm button, lets break down the Pros and Cons of adding Arnie to your Springfield.

Character: Arnie Pye
Donut Price: 85 donuts
Before you can purchase Arnie Pye you must be Level 23 or higher and you’ll have to have completed the Western Civilization 101 Quest.
Pros:
-Reasonably priced. At 85 donuts he’s the same price as the Rich Texan and less than Dr. Nick.
-Premium tasks that earn 50% more than regular characters
-Voiced
-Comes with a quest line
-Great outdoor quests, in fact all but 1 of his tasks are outdoor tasks.
-Unlocks a 2 day task at Channel 6
-Introduces the first ‘live action; mode of transportation in the game with his helicopter flying around your Springfield. (Perhaps a sign of things to come for TSTO in the future?)

Cons:
– Doesn’t come with a building, and his helicopter only appears during tasks.
-At 85 donuts he’s at the higher end of the premium characters that don’t come with a building.
-After his quest line he has no other interactions with other characters in Springfield.

Final Thought: Personally I think this is a great purchase to make if you’re looking at adding premium characters in the game. He adds an exciting new element to the game (with the helicopter flying) and comes with 5 tasks (4 of which are outside). Arnie is a character worth the donuts!

Level 33 What We Know So Far

Hello Fellow Tapped Out Addicts!

Level 33 was released today! Here’s what we know so far:

-As you can see from the image above the Level 33 Message is Dr. Nick and leveling up comes with 1 donut

-Snake kicks off everything by robbing the Kwik-E-Mart (60 minute task). So make sure you have snake free to get things started!

-After Snake is done Robbing the Kwik-E-Mart it unlocks Eddie and Lou with the S.W.A.T Van (walkthrough coming soon)

-S.W.A.T Van costs $225,000 and improves your Righteousness Rating (it’s a decoration so instant build)

-Wax Museum costs $276,000, collects $200 and 20xp every 12 hours. It’s a 24 hour build

-The Sun Sphere costs $750,000 and takes 3 days to build. It requires level 5,boosts your vanity, and unlocks a permanent 16-hr Task for Bart, Milhouse, Nelson & Martin-Celebrate the ‘ WOD FIR’ (no rent/tax income generated from it-sorry folks!)

-The Training Wall costs $270, and improves your righteousness rating. Also, unlocks a 12 hour task for Eddie.

-3 New Premium Items added; 2 characters and 1 decoration. (I’m sure Alissa will be doing a Premium Guide Post on these soon)

-Arnie Pye (!) costs 85 donuts, requires you to be on Level 23, earns an extra 50% on tasks (like other premium characters). Completes the C List Celebrities Collection and he’s voiced. Oh and he comes with HIS COPPER!!

-Little Lady Justice. Decoration, costs 75 donuts, and earns 2.75% bonus on income and jobs

-K9 Officer. Character, 45 donuts, barks, completes the Civil Servants Character Collection.

Tapped Out Walkthrough: Tutorial (Game Start-Level 5)

Quests start right after the video of Homer blowing up Springfield Ends

All dialogue spoke by Homer here:
“Hello, anybody here? Huh. I guess it’s true what they say about atomic blasts—the safest place to be is ground zero. I wonder where my loving family is…and Bart. Task book is then highlighted. Whoa, whoa – if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s when you open books, bad things happen”
Prompted to build the Simpson House, 6 seconds.

Must build the house within the shaded box. If not Homer says “I think I should place it where the computer tells me”

Character Unlock!

Level up!

Homer: “Lisa! Thank God you’re here to guide me through this tutorial.”
Lisa: “ What happened?”
Homer: “Difficult to say sweetie. The town blew up, I built our house and you showed up. All we know for sure is, I’m completely blameless.”
Lisa: “Hmm. Maybe if we keep building things, Mom and Bart will show up too.”
Homer: “I’m sure they will. This thing would be way too sad if they didn’t”
Lisa: “Then let’s do it. But first, we should clean this place up a bit.”
Homer: “You’re joking right?”

Springfield Cleaners Pt. 1 Despite his objections, Homer cleans up some of the debris left by the explosion (6 seconds – don’t make him clean up everything – just one piece is enough for this stage.)

Springfield Cleaners Pt. 2 Lisa joins in the Springfield clean up (6 seconds, Lisa finds a donut)

Lisa: “Hey, I found a donut!”
Homer: “It looks like one of the donuts from the break room.”
Lisa: “It must have been irradiated when the plant blew up. Now it has the power to locally speed up time…as well as to buy things, for some reason.”

The New Evergreen Terrace Pt. 1 Build a road (prompted by Lisa)

Who Needs the Kwik-E-Mart Build the Kwik-E-Mart (prompted by Homer. Note: you’re asked to use some of your donuts to speed this up)

Character Unlock!

Level Up!

The Others Frink appears from the Other Springfield and tells you to pay a visit there. Visit the other Springfield by following what Frink says. You’ll collect some extra cash and XP.

The Box, The Box! Starts with the Daily Play Combo appearing. Homer wants to speed it up to get to the Mystery box. You’ll have to spend 6 donuts to get a Mystery Box. Mystery box contains 10 donuts.

Level up!

Soylent Bean Lisa goes shopping at the Kwik-E-Mart (Prompted by Lisa 1hour)

Thank Ganesh Apu prays to Ganesh (45 seconds)

Working Hard Homer or Lisa need to clean up Springfield a bit more (if you’ve cleaned all of your debris, you’ll need to buy more land)

The New Evergreen Terrace Pt. 2 Build the Brown House (prompted by Lisa)

The Mysterious Brown House Pt. 1 Homer breaks into the Brown House and watches TV

The Taxman Cometh Collect money from houses

Level Up!

The New Evergreen Terrace Pt. 3 Move the Kwik-E-Mart because it doesn’t really belong next to the Simpsons’ house. You’ll then be prompted to build the Flanders House (90 seconds)

Character Unlock!

Shopaholic Collect money from shops (just the Kwik-E-Mart at this point)

Green Thumb Plant trees (Lisa initiates this task, so make sure she’s free. You’ll need to plant at least 3 trees in order for this quest to be complete)

Donut-denominated Decorations Place Homer’s Hammock

That Ain’t Right Ned condemns science (45 seconds)

Hardly Working Place the kiddie pool (it costs $100)

Property Values Buy a land expansion

At this point the tutorial ends and you should be on level 5.

I Can Use Donuts to Buy Game Money, Why Can’t I Use Game Money to Buy Donuts?

Update 9/29/16….Since writing this post there are now ways added to the game where you can technically use in-game cash to “buy” donuts. Check out this post to learn more about XP and Donut Farming.

There’s no clear cut answer to that only theories but TSTO is a “freemium” game, which means that you can play the game for free and still have it be very enjoyable but there are also premium content additions that can take the game to another level. And if you want that premium content you have to pay for it.
It’s also doubtful that there will ever be an option to turn game money into donuts. EA is a business, businesses need to make money in order to pay salaries. The income from the donut purchases are what go into creating new levels and content for the game.

Keep in mind though they may still do a promotion where you can convert another type of game currency you earn into donuts, like they did last Christmas with Santa Coins.

Remember: Donut Purchases=new content
