A New Way To Find Friends on Addicts

Update 2/28: This thread was getting pretty full and some of you were getting “lost in the shuffle” so we’ve decided to close friend requests on this post.  ALL of your Origin ID’s will still be readable in the comments of this post, you just will no longer be able to comment on this specific post.  Instead we’ll move all Add Me requests back to our original post which can be found here.  🙂

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well it’s just before 9:45 AM here on the East Coast and still no update!   But I’m taking advantage of the quiet here at the Addicts offices (I may have given Bunny a little too much “Water” and Wookiee a few too many Cheetos last night, so it would be quiet around here this morning) and doing a little “housekeeping” around the blog.  You may be noticing some of the changes already (like to the menu structure at the top) and don’t worry I’ll reveal the full details of everything once complete.  BUT for now I figured let’s address probably the number 2 reason you’re all here (I know the number 1 reason is for our humor and cheesy jokes right?! 😀 )….to find Tapped Out Friends!

As you most likely have already noticed (and used) we have a handy link in the top menu as well as an icon in the side bar over there —–>
for quick access to finding and adding those much needed TSTO Friends!  BUT currently there are close to 10,000 Add Me requests on those previous Friends Pages.  While we LOVE that you guys are all adding Neighbor-eenos and filling up your friends lists we don’t love (and you guys don’t either) that you often have to comb through THOUSANDS of requests just to find someone to Add.  OR you guys adding your name just to have it buried under other requests that come in at the same time.

So we’ve come up with a solution!

We’re going to do posts, like this one, regularly for you guys to Add Friend requests to.  Once the comments and Add Me Requests reaches a certain number (we’re not sure on the number yet) we’ll start a new Add Me Post and keep doing it until….the end of time!  Ok not that dramatic but you get the idea.  We’ll also do specific posts for Events (Like Christmas, Valentines, Whacking Day…etc).  All of these posts will be complied under 1 simple quick link at the top of the page.  The same link you use today…Add Friends.  (the little icon on the side bar will also be linked to the most current Add Friends Post)  So you’ll quickly be able to see where to add your name, as well as search older posts to find friends to add.  Make sense?

Now if you’ve already added your name to the old page and are wondering if your previous Add Me request will be lost…DON’T PANIC!   We’re going to quick link to those Pages on the first few Add Friend Posts
like this:

Find Friends 1 (formerly Add Friends)
Find Friends 2 (formerly Find Friends)

….and we’ll have another quick link to access them from the Menu.

Note: The ability to make “Add Me” requests on those pages has been disabled.  You can still see requests previously added, but no new comments can be added.  Now that we’re doing things this way, any “Add Me” request to any other post, unless it specifically says add your Origin ID OR you write a comment relevant to the post itself and leave your Origin ID with it, will NOT be approved.  I hate to be a Grumple about it but it’s for your own good…I promise!

Confused?  I’m sorry…once I’ve hit publish on this post and updated the menu (can’t do it until this post is up there) I’ll take some screenshots of the new structure and update this post so you can figure out just what I’m talking about.

So now…hit up this post with your Origin ID’s and Add Me Requests!  Who wants to be first?

Tapped Out on Christmas: What to Tap Now? Neighbor-eeno Guidance

Hey Howdy Hey New Year Tappers!

How’s 2014 treating you so far?  Sticking to those resolutions…2 days in?  🙂

I’ve been noticing more and more in the comments many tappers asking what’s next?  You’ve completed the Gift Card prizes (although if you haven’t…don’t panic you still have plenty of time…until next Tuesday to be exact), won all of the wheel prizes (again if you haven’t don’t panic…or feel one of the F words…you still have plenty of time) and you have no clue what to do until the next update.

Should you still be tapping Neighbor-eeno’s houses with Gift Cards?  Should you still be dropping gift bags?  Should you still be tapping your own presents?  Well over the next couple of days we’re going to take a look at things you can do to prevent yourself from becoming Tapped Out on Christmas and still keep your head in the game.

Today’s tip?  Some Neighbor-eeeno Guidance.  Let’s take a look at some ways you can help your friends and neighbors and prevent the Christmas Burn Out…

Addicts Housekeeping Item: Adding/Finding Friends

Hey howdy hey Tappers!

Hope you’re GOOing well… 🙂

Just wanted to take a quick minute to let you know we’ve made a few minor changes to the friends pages.  To make things easier for everyone to find we’ve created a second page.  The first page is still there, and now labeled Find Friends while the second page is labeled Add friends.  Our goal is to make it easier for everyone to find and add new friends!

As a reminder please make sure you put your Friend & Add Me requests on our Neighbor-eeno page.  This will ensure your Friend request doesn’t get lost in the other comments!  We want to make sure your request is seen by all of our readers looking for new friends!

Happy Ghostbusting!

Addicts Question Corner: How Can You Tell If a Neighbor-eeno Is Worth Deleting?

TSTOSimpsonsneighbors1
Hi Everyone!

Here’s a question straight from our comments from Addicts reader poisonshift:

What is the most effective way to discern from users who are viable and stink accounts?  I know ‘things’ happen and maybe a person won’t play for a day or two and it is someone bothersome to keep a tally of 100 neighbors…”

First of all, thank you for the great question Poisonshift!  I thought it was such a great question that it was worthy of it’s own post, since it’s a question that’s not covered nearly enough in the TSTO World.  Typically we discuss how to delete neighbor-eenos, but not how to tell if they should be deleted.  Here’s my take on it… Continue reading

Why Can’t We Be Friends: Breaking Down the Socialism Rating on the Conform-O-Meter

simpsons-300
Ah neighbors..those pesky people with out whom you’d have no power tools to “borrow”.  And in TSTO they’re the friends you can’t reach 5 stars with out!  Your social interaction with your neighbors plays the main role in your Conform-O-Meter Socialism Rating.  So by being the social butterfly and having neighbors and visiting them regularly you improve your Socialism rating & you’re that much closer to maxing out your Conform-O-Meter.

The Conform-O-Meter is an important part of Tapped-Out because it provides you with a bonus boost in your cash and XP from everything you collect in the game.  When you achieve a 5-Star Town (it’s max rating) you will receive a 5% bonus on all money and XP collected in your town.  If you missed the previous Conform-O-Meter posts check here for the basics and here for how many points you’ll need to reach 5 stars.

So just how does the Socialism rating work?  Let’s find out…..

Easier Neighbor-eeno Management for Android Tappers!

Back when TSTO Addicts first began I wrote a how-to guide for deleting inactive friends in Tapped Out.  While, deleting friends on an iOS device was always fairly simple, for Android players it wasn’t so easy.  In that guide I indicated that for Android players the only way to delete friends was to block them via the Origin website.  However, for those of you struggling to remove friends this way & have access to a PC or Mac, you may want to consider downloading the Origin program.  The Origin software is the easiest way to manage your friends list, no matter what device you play on!

To download the program visit www.origin.com.  From there you’ll want to click Download Origin in the top right corner:
web1
Once you’ve clicked on the Download link it will take you to another page where you can choose to download for a PC or a Mac:
web2
Once you’ve downloaded the program and launched it from your desktop the login screen will appear:
web3
After you’ve typed in your username and password the program will launch and you’ll be able to completely manage your origin account:
web4
To Add/Delete Friends from Tapped-Out via the Origin Program you simple click on Friends in the top left, and then  select show friends list from the drop down menu:
web5
From there your friends list will appear (usually to the right) in a long list.
web6
To Add friends simply click on the Add Friend button on the bottom of the list and a box will appear to search friends.  Follow the on screen instructions to add friends:
web8
To delete friends, simply find the friend you’re looking to delete in the list, click on their name, and select unfriend from the drop down list.  Follow the on screen instructions to finish deleting the friend:
web7

So if you’re having issues removing inactive friends from Tapped Out via your Android phone, consider downloading the Origin Program for your PC or Mac.  It will quickly and effectively delete those lazy neighbor-eenos so you can make room for new friends!

Are You A Homer Simpson or A Ned Flanders Kinda Neighbor?

The more you play TSTO the more you start to realize that visiting your neighbors and tapping their buildings doesn’t just earn you Cash/Tickets and XP it also helps (or hurts) your neighbor as well.

So You Wanna Be A Flanders Huh?
If you really want to help your friends the most you should tap on the buildings that take the longest time to generate income (ie: Burns Manor, Duff Stadium, Mt. Krustmore etc). Why you ask? Because tapping on these buildings restarts the earning clock on that building. So now when they get back to their own town they can collect the previous cash on the building AND have the clock already progressed into the next income cycle!

Also, if you see any dead crops in your friend’s town you might want to show them your green thumb and tap away. Tapping dead crops not only brings them back to life for your friend, but it also generates cash and XP for you!

To Homer or Not to Homer?
Some of the buildings in TSTO do not generate income (Town Hall, MOE’s Tavern, Police Station & Springfield Elementary). When you visit your neighbors town these will either have a Spray Can Over them or a Mop. While either action generates cash & XP for you, think before you vandalize. Vandalizing your neighbor’s buildings can negatively change their righteousness rating, it can also impact yours! However, cleaning graffiti off of a building will positively change both yours and your neighbor’s righteousness rating.

Whomever you decide to be, put a little thought into it and choose wisely!

Being A Social Butterfly: Visiting Friends

eeno
Once a day you can visit your Friends towns and tap up to 3 of their buildings to collect cash and XP. With the Krustyland Update you can also visit their Krustyland and collect tickets! (note: you cannot collect cash from 3 buildings and then collect tickets from 3 attractions at Krustyland. You can ONLY tap up to 3 buildings TOTAL between your friends Springfield and Krustyland per day, greedy pants!)

And don’t worry you don’t need to tap and collect all the money/tickets and XP that come flying out of the buildings, you can just tap the building/attraction and move on to the next town. Like EA magic the money will automatically be added to your account (this goes for the bonus XP you get for visit a friends town and completing 3 tasks as well, even if you leave before you see the box)!
