Addicts 5-Year Look Back: Wookiee’s 3-D Mega Prison

Following the same path of wanting to be different than other TSTO sites, we introduced design How-Tos to TSTO Addicts back in 2013.  Mostly based around 2D and 3D design work.  Really intricate design work done by some really talented people.

Wookiee, at least to me, was the King of 2D/3D designs.  It’s one of the major reasons I asked him to join Addicts when we first started.  Little did I know I’d be getting so much more than a 2D/3D designer!  Wook would break down some of his most intricate designs from his Springfield into simple steps anyone (and everyone) could follow.

While we’ve had loads of 2D/3D posts over the years, the one that always stands out the most to me (and was the most duplicated by you guys) is Wookiee’s Mega Prison!  So it’s time to turn it over to Wookiee and take a look back at the Mega Prison how-to…

From the Mouth of Addicts: 3D Opera Stage Beautification

Welcome to another edition of From the Mouths of Addicts, where YOU get to sound off on anything and everything in the world of Tapped Out!  This week’s post comes to us from reader tiff.  Besides reading this great site, Tiff shared an awesome image of some 3D additions she did to her outdoor opera stage on the origin post. Well, I reached out and not only was she willing to have a how-to done for her design, she went the extra step to do it all for you readers.  Without further ado, here’s the awesomeess she came up with to give your opera a 3D upgrade.

And the Winners Are….

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Last week we asked you to participate in our Superbowl Prediction Contest.  The Tappers that correctly guessed which team would win the big game would be placed in the randomizer and top three would win $10 gift cards!

Well the New England Patriots won the game & while many of you predicted the Seahawks would take it…there were a few of you who knew the Pats would pull it out in the end!  So with out further ado…let’s reveal the winners!

Medieval 3D 101: Building a Castle

Battle Buddies ATTENTION!

Lmbo… I sure don’t miss military formations.  Anywho… with all the war going on in our towns, the history geek in me has been reminiscing about wars I enjoyed learning about.  Wasn’t it General Patton who said, “No tapper ever won a war by leaving dead buildings in his country. They won it by making the other poor dumb tapper rebuild in his country.”  I’m pretty sure that’s word for word lol.

During events, there’s lots and lots of facts and info to put out and Alissa and Bunny are true masters at compiling and producing those posts.  In the back office, I help as much as I can while spending more time than I should decorating in my town and copying their answers to comments.  While this may seem like an admission of sloth (don’t worry, they know), it does occassionally bear fruit for me to share.  This post is one example so without further words, I bring you a 3D tutorial for building a castle thingy in your town. 3D 101: Building a Memorial

How ya bean dune peanuts?

Wookiee popping in with a little building fun for y’all.  You may have noticed an absence by me and suffice to say school and real life have been kicking my furry behind but I’m always around at least lurking to make sure no arms need ripping off.

Anywho… in the midst of stress and silliness the other day, I found myself returning to the refuge that is TSTO to take my mind off of life, the universe and everything and suddenly had the inspiration to build.  With the past 4th of July stuff, one of the rad decorations available was the Lincoln Memorial.  I of course snatched it up immediately as another homage to one of my favorite presidents and set myself the task to turn this new dec into a proper memorial in my B game.  Took some brainstorming and procrastination but I finally got around to building and figured I’d take you along for the ride.

Simple Town Designs: It’s All About Perspective

Hey Hey Hey Addicts!

So the nuclear option came back in TSTO and it got me jonesing for a redesign in Wookieetown.  While my finger IS hovering over that button, I’m not ready yet but it did make me consider my town and things I liked vs. new ideas I may have. I know some of you might be in the redesign (or design) phase for your Springfield so I thought I might share some pics with you to maybe provide inspiration.

We get quite a few comments asking for tips and design ideas for Springfield. While we do have a basic design guide here at Addicts (mostly just tips to get started), we thought it would be fun to create a series of posts based on different ways to design various areas of your Springfield.   Note: In no way do we consider ourselves “experts” at this design stuff, in fact MANY of you could teach us a thing or two about town designs.  These are just fun and different things we’ve come up with, inspired from our own minds or friends towns, to “spice up” our favorite virtual city!

For this edition, we’re going to look at PERSPECTIVE.  Basically taking items in your town and making them look different than intended.  It is one of my favorite things to do and I thought I’d share.  Without further ado… let’s get started.

Krustyland in 3D!!!

What’s crackalackin Addicts?

Well, it’s 3D Thursday and I thought today we could have some fun in Krustyland (KL) for a change.  I don’t know about you but my poor theme park has been pretty neglected for quite a while.  Sure I threw my new rides from the various holiday events in there but haven’t done much else.

Well, I’m ashamed of myself.  I’m a Disneyland Annual Passholder and go all the time and still have a so-so KL.  You’d never guess how much I love amusement parks by looking at my designs.  (Well, the pathway to the castle with the Krusty Statue in front of it might give you a guess but that’s not the point.)  Thankfully, other Addicts aren’t as neglectful of KL as me. Over at TOuk, I saw this amazing 3D Design from Steven Itman and liked it a bunch.  With his permission, I thought we’d do a little 3D tutorial.  Sound good? If yes, click more….

3D 101: The Mega Prison

What’s up Addicterinos?  How’s Level 38 treating you?  Feeling burdened by all the “legal” stuff that came with it?  Yeah… me neither.

Love them or hate them, every country has its very own Legal/Justice system and it really should be no surprise that our very own Springfield is no exception. Sure there may be only 3 cops, one lawyer and one judge right now, but there are no fewer than 6 characters that can spend time in jail or prison.  With that ratio, I’d could see the potential for Springfield’s Justice System to become overburdened and I thought I’d take action.  You’ve probably seen this before, but here’s my Springfield Mega Prison….

Springfield Showoff- Nice Hedges

As we sit here frakkin files, pulling pics, and typing a million words a minute to get our readers the latest updates and information…we find ourselves sometimes forgetting to stop and enjoy our own games. More so our neighboreenos. So we try to make it a point to hop in n out of the towns now and then to see what cool things YOU are up to.

So we have decided we want to continue to focus more attention (as if we don’t already 😛 ) on YOU…our readers. Time to time we will be peaking into your towns, checking our Flickr, and also the posts in the comments below to see what cool ideas and designs YOU have come up with to make your towns unique and…well…YOU.

So here is YOUR chance to show off all your hard work, time, donuts & in game cash spent. Send us your work, no matter how big or small. Brag about it to the world. We want you to. (That and Bunny loves to see other designs and get inspiration from it.) Then keep your eyes posted to Addicts to see if YOU end up on our “SPRINGFIELD SHOWOFF”.

Tapped Out on Christmas: What to Tap Now? 2D/3D Part 2

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back with another edition of Tapped Out on Christmas!  I’ve been noticing more and more in the comments many tappers asking what’s next?  You’ve completed the Gift Card prizes (although if you haven’t…don’t panic you still have plenty of time…until next Tuesday (the 14th) to be exact), won all of the wheel prizes (again if you haven’t don’t panic…or feel one of the F words…you still have plenty of time) and you have no clue what to do until the next update.

And now we’ve gotten word that the Christmas Event has been EXTENDED another week!  What’s an Addicted Tapper to do?

Should you still be tapping Neighbor-eeno’s houses with Gift Cards?  Should you still be dropping gift bags?  Should you still be tapping your own presents?  Well over the next couple of days we’re going to take a look at things you can do to prevent yourself from becoming Tapped Out on Christmas and still keep your head in the game.

Today’s tip?  Part 2 (and the conclusion) of our advice on trying your hand at 2D & 3D Creations!tstoaddicts3dbasicswookieeprision
