Welcome to another edition of From the Mouths of Addicts, where YOU get to sound off on anything and everything in the world of Tapped Out! This week’s post comes to us from one of our frequent commenters, Bugman!
Bugman sent me in this true story via email, of how The Simpsons can imitate life, even when you think “that would never happen!”.
Enjoy it my friends! Here’s Bugman… -Alissa
One of the funny things about The Simpsons is the over-the-top ineptitude of everyone in Springfield. People say or do things that are so outrageous that you might be tempted sometimes to laugh and think “Nobody in real life would ever do that!” Of course, if you’ve been around long enough, you realize that oh yes, no matter how dumb a thing is, someone, somewhere most certainly would.
So for almost a year, I have been bugging y’all with news about the arrival of our favorite cartoon hometown at Universal Studios Hollywood. Since then, I’ve tried to keep y’all abreast of all the developments. While it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long since I saw the first image of this amazingness, it has and boy oh boy do I have news for you.
So a little while ago (January) I shared an article with y’all about the construction of Springfield at Universal Studios Hollywood. I also promised I’d be going in February to take pics and let you know how everything was going. Well, move over Superheroes, it’s time for this fuzzball to fulfill his promise. One things for certain… I am SUPER excited by all this.
Springfield, Springfield, Hollywood, Hollywood… hey Wookiee, Hollywood’s that way… it’s a hell of a town!
Sorry folks, chuckling to myself but I promise I have a point. For anyone who hasn’t seen my previous posts about Universal Studios Hollywood opening up their own version of Springfield this Spring, they are. New pics have become available for it too.
Jamie Hyneman: Tonight we take on the classic myth that a cat will always land on its feet. Adam Savage: We didn’t want to hurt a real cat so we took this Build-A-Bear carcass… Jamie Hyneman: Stuffed it with ballistic gel, shot it with a 20 foot barrel steam cannon… Adam Savage: And made a scatter plot of the remains. Booyah! Jamie Hyneman: What was it we were trying to prove again? Adam Savage: Don’t know, don’t care. (does the cabbage patch)
Oh man… gotta love when the Simpsons have awesome guest stars on the show. In “The Daughter Also Rises” (S23:E13), the Mythbusters duo had a funny appearance as Mythcrackers that inspire Bart and Milhouse to do their own myth cracking. Man those crackers that bust myths sure are entertaining. Of course, on January 10, 2015, the roles were reversed and the real-life Adam and Jamie did a Mythbusters episode all about the Simpsons. I thought it’d be cool just to recap the episode for any of you who didn’t get the chance to catch it, want to see my thoughts and/or can’t watch it for assorted reasons.
Wookiee swinging in with some Simpsons news for y’all. If you didn’t know already, the uber popular Discovery Channel show Mythbusters is taking on Simpsons “myths” for the premiere of their new season TONIGHT. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are set to test a few scenes from the Best. Show. Ever.
Oi Oi Oi! Wookiee here with some info to share for all my favorite tappers. I know we’re all enjoying Thanksgiving and other assorted TSTO goodness, but I thought it was about time I gave everyone a progress report on the construction of Springfield at Universal Studios Hollywood. I’ve been trying to keep y’all up to date ever since I first posted about it so click more if you’re curious where it’s at now.
Admittedly, it has been a little bit since I reported on anything about Krustyland in Hollywood and for that I apologize. Here at Addicts, I’m sort of the resident them park guy since I have a pass to Universal Studios Hollywood. Being super stoked about the press release of Springfield coming to my home state in Spring 2015 (check out this post), I find myself eager to check out the progress. Well, I went back in April and I’m here to share what I saw. Apologies for the delay in getting this to you but I’m blaming Easter.
The Topiary Wars continue (check out Pay Pal, S25:E21 for that reference) and in TSTO we got yet another fluffy green bush trimmed like a character. You know you’ve been subconsciously jonesing for this ever since your snowdog melted, right? What am I talking about… well if the title was way too subtle, let’s discuss the SLH Topiary.
Level 40 just started and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed with the hilariousness. As always, I get to fill my favorite tappereenos in on all the new stuff. For this little WDTCF goodness, we’ll take a look at our new addition to Krustyland, the crashed police car.
