Everyone’s a Winner on Pie Day

So… Friday, 3/14 brought us Pi Day and in true display of our geekdom, we celebrated with a mini-contest. Congrats to granmamaDar for her triumphant (albeit randomly assigned by a computer) victory!

So awesome to give back to y’all but it got me thinking. Why can’t we all be winners? Yeah, I know, there has to be a divide or no one will know about earning via hard work or trying again and yada yada yada (I’ll be the first to tell you tee-ball should be scored) but this was a silly contest, right?

Ahoy-hoy there mateys! Fairly warned ye be says I. Yonder post be a matter of opinion and may put wind in yer sails and barnacles in yer treasure chest.

Channeling a little Horatio McCallister today I guess. Probably because I re-watched Season 8, Episode 9: El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer and laughed my pants off at the Sea Captain wrecking a cargo ship full of hot pants at the end.

I watched the episode just to hear Johnny Cash’s voice but the ending is really funny too. It’s often the little cameos that I love the most. Can’t shake a stick at Homer and Marge confirming their status as soulmates, right? Continue reading →

Mardis Gras and the Best. Show. Ever.

So, it’s nearing the end of February and y’all know what that means, right? Fat Tuesday! The day it’s ok to be fat on Tuesday. Ok, maybe not that but it does mean that Mardis Gras aka the “Carnival season” is coming soon. Whether just celebrating the day before the Christian Ash Wednesday (1^st day of Lent) or encompassing the entire period from Kings day (Epiphany) to Fat Tuesday, it is pretty well known for costumes, masks, defiance of social conventions, parades, and beads, can’t forget the beads. Not sure how far back the beads go but the actual event can be traced back to Medieval history.

Reader Seapeach1 had asked if we’d talk about it here at Addicts and I thought it was a great idea. While I doubt EA will tie in this event with the game, it’s always nice to revisit Simpsons episodes and like Bart Simpson says, “Mardi Gras, man. When the Big Easy calls, ya gotta accept the charges.”

Hola, me llamo Wookiee. Mi perro fuerte es muy grande porque comer muchos burritos en la playa del sol. ¿Has oído hablar del reloj de cuco Simpsons?

Wow… That sentence was much harder to write than I thought it’d be. Thank you California public school system and Oogle translate. I bet there’s about 5 years of Spanish teachers that would love to shake me right now. I actually did do a verbal report on “mi perro fuerte” in 8th grade but I bet it was much funnier and in better Español. If you think that the Wookiee has gone cuckoo, you’re probably right. Hey hey hey!

You know, some days I get so caught up in writing on this site that I forget one of the coolest things about it. Not only am I blessed to have my words and opinions out here for other like-minded tappers to read, but I get to be part of a team that has my back and are people I seriously call friends. Alissa and Bunny are two people I consider myself so lucky to have in my life. We don’t really mention it, but other than being bloggers on this amazing site, we all actually talk to each other several times a week by phone, text and/or video and it’s not always conversations about TSTO and The Simpsons.

It was during one of these conversations, that Bunny and I geeked out over future content that might be coming to the game. The main item discussed was the Springfield Monorail. We both would love this to come to the game and we seriously hope EA wasn’t just teasing us by mentioning it in game dialogue.
