First of all, I realize that we are barely 1/3 into the huge THOH 2016 update in TSTO. However, while I realize that Alissa is resolute in her decision not to talk about items we haven’t seen in the game before they actually come out, I am going to break that rule and talk about some things we are going to see in Act II and Act III. I, like many of you, sneak off to some of the “spoiler sites” and can tell you that what I have seen is…
Hold on… I have a text coming through. It’s from Alissa.
Uhm. Ok. So I won’t be talking about a lot of items that are coming in Act II and Act III. Holyfreakinshirt...That girl is everywhere…and she has some really threatening emojis!!
Actually…I really don’t need to talk about what’s coming, because I have a pretty clear opinion about how THOH 2016 stacks up with previous offerings.
And you might jut be surprised at what I have to say… Continue reading →
So, it’s nearing the end of February and y’all know what that means, right? Fat Tuesday! The day it’s ok to be fat on Tuesday. Ok, maybe not that but it does mean that Mardis Gras aka the “Carnival season” is coming soon. Whether just celebrating the day before the Christian Ash Wednesday (1st day of Lent) or encompassing the entire period from Kings day (Epiphany) to Fat Tuesday, it is pretty well known for costumes, masks, defiance of social conventions, parades, and beads, can’t forget the beads. Not sure how far back the beads go but the actual event can be traced back to Medieval history.
Reader Seapeach1 had asked if we’d talk about it here at Addicts and I thought it was a great idea. While I doubt EA will tie in this event with the game, it’s always nice to revisit Simpsons episodes and like Bart Simpson says, “Mardi Gras, man. When the Big Easy calls, ya gotta accept the charges.”
To buy or not to buy? That is a common question facing many Tappers! TSTO is a “freemium” game, and as such you can completely enjoy the game with out spending a dime of real world money! But what if you’re looking to invest a little in the game? What if you see some of those coveted “premium” items in your neighbor-eenos town and you want them in yours? What do you do? What do you buy?
With various donut buying options (from $1.99 (for 12) to $99.99 (for 2,400)) it can be hard to decide just what you need…and what you can get for each level. So, I thought it would be a fun little experiment to see what our writers would buy with various donut purchases.
The first in this series is everyone’s favorite Wookiee and his take on what he WOULD buy witha 132 donuts (or a Tray Full for $9.99).
Bunny and I have written a lot of words about how we make our 2D creations. Thought I would mix it up a little this week and just show the different decorations which can be used for various colors.
While this list is not all inclusive, it is most of the decorations we use to make our art. I think I can speak for Bunny and I when I say we seriously want EA to come out with even more simple decorations of different colors to expand the art we can make.
I wanted to keep this post short but also wanted to show off all the cool Halloween-inspired 2D that was done this event as well as some of the decorations used in each.
Here are mine:
And here are the amazing 2Ds from the beautiful and talented Bunny:
Well, I hope everyone’s week has started well and continues on strong to the weekend! Maybe this will spark a couple more ideas for any one interested in creating some 2D art in their own town. Y’all stay classy… Wookiee out!
Hey Howdy Hey Addicts!
One of the decorations we’ve unlocked as a community GOO Collecting is the First Church of Lard Lad (no crazy orange robes or turbans, just jelly-filled underwear!) At 5 billion GOO this was the first item we unlocked as a community. What I want to know is where you put it and what you’ve done with it?
Here’s a few that we saw..
Here’s mine: Not much I know. Halloween and level 36 have hit my town hard. A redesign is needed as soon as there’s a lull in updates!
Here’s Wookiee’s: Appropriately by the Heck House
And here’s another one from a neighbor, Galaxykill: Looks like King Snorky is going in for his dose of Jelly Filled Underwear!
So, show us yours! Leave the link for your First Church of Lard Lad screen shot in the comments below. You can upload your screen shot to our Flickr Site or by using Dropbox. If you need help uploading photos using either method you can check out our how-to’s here: Flickr & Dropbox.
Look forward to seeing just where you put that Donut Church!
With time running out on the Halloween event (ends Nov. 7th!) I figured now would be a good time to take a look at how all of the new additions from Halloween impact your Conform-O-Meter rating.
The Conform-O-Meter is an important part of Tapped-Out because it provides you with a bonus boost in your cash and XP from everything you collect in the game. When you achieve a 5-Star Town (it’s max rating) you will receive a 5% bonus on all money and XP collected in your town. If you missed the previous Conform-O-Meter posts check here for the basics and here for how many points you’ll need to reach 5 stars.
While the Halloween event brought no changes to the Conform-O-Meter requirements, level 36 did though, it did bring us a ton of new items to add to our Springfield. Let’s take a look at how all of the new “goodies” impact our rating:
With all of the Halloween premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the House of Evil to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this store to your Springfield.
Building: House of Evil Donut Price: 45 Donuts Unique?: Yes Pros: -Your Consumerism points will go up +10
-Another unique building for your town.
-Least expensive building of those offered for the event.
-Limited-Time Building. Great for new tappers and Android players who couldn’t play TSTO last year because it wasn’t available on Android. Cons: -No tasks at all
-No animation other than teeny window movement
-Does not come with unlock quests
-No interaction with other characters and/or animals in Springfield Final Thought: For those holding on tight to their precious donuts, I say this one isn’t worth it for me. 45 donuts isn’t much, but I would prefer a building my characters can visit and interact with. At least some animation. It is the cheaper of the ones available for the event. It does give you “in game value” with the consumerism, but other than that it is just another building. So, unless you’ve already purchased all of the other premium characters/buildings or you’re a completest, I would really wait on this one and save your donuts to decide towards the end of the event if you really want it.

Happy GOO collecting everyone! We’re that much closer to 30 Billion an King Homer’s Skyscraper! Enjoy your weekend!
Congratulations! We’ve all be hard at work busting ghosts and collecting GOO that we’ve finally reached the 20 Billion GOO mark! Just a week shy of when we unlocked the Ghost Bomb, just over a week of the clawing zombie & 2 weeks from unlocking the very first (and in my opinion so far the best) Community Prize, the First Church of Lard Lad we’ve, as a community, unlocked the 4th Community Prize….the Frog Prince!
Looks like, much in the way of the Zombies & Snorky, the Frog Price is just a character that will roam around your Springfield searching for his Princess…. Of course it’s not an easy task searching for some girl that will kiss you back into a prince. So it seems as though the Frog Prince partakes in a cold Duff now and then (or 12). Bloodshot eyes, stumbles as he walks and of course…the biggest clue…when you tap on him he pukes! He’s quite a catch isn’t he ladies? Hey Froggy, we’ve got a Bunny we can fix you up with!
While there are no quests for the Frog Prince, it’s still a hilarious addition to the game! He has a little bit of mini dialogue to start when he drops, explaining how he got here. He also has some hilarious dialogue when you tap him. Here’s the dialogue: Frog Prince: Once I was an innocent frog, then an incompetent boy wizard turned me into this nightmare of agony. Please don’t tap me. It just makes it hurt worse. Of course that just makes you want to tap him more! When you do tap him he makes the best puking noise (trust me you’ll want to make sure the sound is on for this one!) and has some hilarious dialogue! Here’s what he says when you tap him (in no particular order): -Hey, cut it out.
-Kill me, please. –Why do you hate me? –Oh the agony.
-Thanks a lot, jerk!
-I’m going to barf on you.
-Congratulations. You just tortured a frog. -Hey, I don’t tap you, and you’re no looker yourself.
Anyway..enjoy your FREE gift from EA Tappers! Have fun and remember to always tap responsibly!
Until Homer’s Skyscraper and 30 Billion GOO my friends!
Happy 2D Tuesday everybody! Hope every one’s weekend went well. The image above is a little craziness I experienced last week while editing images late at night. Poor bunny seems to have been run ragged by Alissa the Slavedriver, errr, I mean Amazing so I made this tribute to the both of us. I must admit this made me laugh so hard, I felt I had to share. It’s also an homage to The Simpsons Movie if you didn’t catch that reference. No excuses for the madness, just felt I had to prove I could do something creative that didn’t involve my tapping fingers lol.
