Should the Gremlins Stay or Should they Go?

Hi Ghostbusters!

We’ve been getting several questions in the comment section about Gremlins and when to tap them in your town, if it hurts or helps your neighbors. So let’s go over some of the Gremlin basics!

gremlin

When should you squash Gremlins in your town?

Well, that’s entirely up to you! If you let them run around your town for the full 4 hours your friends will earn 4 GOOs per Gremlin. However, if you squash them before the 4 hours are up you’ll each receive 2 GOOs.
My thought is when you squash them everyone wins! You get something out of it and so do your friends. Plus you can free up your town for more friends to drop Gremlins! More Gremlins=more GOO!

How many Gremlins can be in your town at once?

10 Gremlins are the max that are allowed in any one Springfield at a time. When you visit a friends town there will be a Gremlin counter in the top right corner of the screen. This tells you how many Gremlins you can still drop in their town.

If they have too many Gremlins in their town a pop-up will appear on your screen saying something like, this friend has too many Gremlins try again later. All you have to do is wait a little while to see if you can drop some I later, or try a different friend.

Do Gremlins steal my GOO or create new GOO?

The good news here is that, unlike another event that shall not be named, Gremlins don’t actually steal GOO. Instead they create new GOO. So the 4 GOO yielded from the Gremlins is new GOO and does NOT come off of your collected (or soon to be collected) GOO total!

How do I know how Gremlins I dropped in friends towns are doing?

Well after you’ve dropped Gremlins in another town, if they’ve survived or been whooped you’ll receive a notification the next time you return back to your town. A little pop-up window will appear on your screen telling you just how much GOO your little Gremlins were able to collect!

  1. i don’t have the face of a gremlin on the right corner and i cant use gremlins does any one know why

  2. Hey bunnydud, Just wanted to update you! I re-read my third question, and I’m thinking my brain may not have been working right. None of that junk adds up. Either way, it all worked out in the end. I got back on the game and I was logged out. So I logged back in and everything was where it was suppose to be! Besides the 8 goo difference bc of the glitch. I was able to hit 20,000 and on top of it I got the 3 doughnuts! So sorry for confusing you! I was confusing myself! Jeez! Anyways, its almost 3 am here— bedtime. You dont have to respond if you dont want to, I truly appreciate you helping me with all of it!

  3. Dear Bunnydud, Thanks so much for your answers! I knew about the glitchy thing because my official goo count is 8 more than the goo towards the donuts. I know, know that I leveled up at home the last time because of it. Besides, I dont think I could get 1,000 goo without me going back to home screen or without the screen freezing at a friends house, making me reset and end up back at home.
Here is what I am thinking happened. It might sound crazy, but this is the only explanation I can come up with… About 1,000 in to my next batch of goo, I leveled up to Level 36, and got the donut screen. I am wondering if it’s possible the “candy” goo counter registered that and made me start over. That is the only thing I can think of! Crazy, right? It sucks, but my goal is 20,000 and I will still hit it!! Thanks for responding so quickly! It really helped me!!

    • You’re more than welcome. 🙂
That is the other possibility as I just leveled up in my XP bonus round of Level 36 and it DID reset my Goo counter. However, I was at 1976/2000 and wasn’t watching my Goo collection just prior…so still kinda unsure, but a great possibility. I did get to complete both the XP bonus round and the Spooktacular one. 🙂

  4. Hi! Thanks in advance for any help you can give me! I didnt even know about the timing thing for the gremlins. I read your post above and all the questions, but I have a couple more….
    1. Should I click on gremlins I get? Or should I wait?
    2. I have many, many gremlins left. I have been trying to give to a. Friends in need and b. People who may pay me back in kind. If the end comes, will I lose all that extra goo if I keep them to myself? Or will they give us an opportunity to trade them in or something?
    3. Lastly (sorry this is so long), ever since I passed 10,000 goos I have been getting the donut option for every 2,000 goos after. (I dont double click on ppl’s stuff, I just work really hard!) so at 18,000 I got the donut thing. However, now I have like 19,500 and on my goo count (for the donuts it says 1850/2000)!!! That means somewhere I am missing 1000 goos, right? Shouldn’t I be getting the donut thingy every 2,000? So it would be at 20,000? Anyways thanks again for your help and for this place to even come for question. I am sure EA could care less about missing goo!

    • No worries at all. We are here to help

      1. My preference is to tap Gremlins right away. As you can see, it is hard to have to sit and wait for them to go away after 4 hrs. It doesn’t benefit you or your neighbors. Instead, try and communicate with a fellow tapper to maybe do a fast multi drop. Unlike the hauntings and ghosts, the Gremlin drop is unlimited. If you have a fellow neighbor you are in contact with, you can drop…they can squash…repeat over and over and over. You can burn through many gremlins quickly by using this method.

      2. See #1…and yes, all Gremlins will go once event is over, so any associated possible Goo collection with it.

      3. I put a post on the Gremlin counter about this glitch in the game. You have to reset your count each and EVERY 2000 Goo and you have to do it from YOUR home town. In other words, if you hit 2000 while in a neighbors…any extra collected there after will NOT count towards your bonus. Only when you go home to restart it will the numbers begin to add Goo to the bonus counter again. I am behind several hundred on mine too due to I forget to go back. Just click on the candy (not your total count below) and see where you are in closeness to the 2000, If you see you are like 1950/2000..try to only hit a few neighbors to get it right to almost there…then go back home to YOUR town to finish off the last few and reset that counter.

Hope this all makes sense. 🙂

  5. Please help, I have Kang and the Twirl n Hurl, but the QUEST with Bart does not start. I even tried to let Bart ride it on my own but the storyline does not start.Do you know how to start it?
    Many thanks in advance.

    • You can try a few basic steps to see if dialog will restart. Store the building involved and store the building the character came with. So go to Krustyland and put the ride in your inventory. Then to Springfield and put Bart’s tree house into inventory. This will store Bart. Then pull the tree house back out. Bart will then come back out of the tree house. Go to Krustyland (Bart will follow) and pull the ride back out. Let us know if this helped trigger it. 🙂

  6. I have 200 gremlins but cannot interact with them. I have an update and nothing works and when I get into a town NO counter in any corner. Please email me !!

    • I would try logging out, restarting phone, and logging back in. If that doesn’t work, try to uninstall and reinstall the game as a last resort. You can contact EA…that is usually their go to with troubleshooting the game.

  7. I don’t understand why I don’t have the gremlin icon in the top right hand corner whether I’m in my town or someone else’s? I have well over ten to release and I’m on level 25 almost 26 with a hundred or less XP points. I would like to know what I may need to accomplish to initiate this task. I want to use my gremlins!

    • So it is not there at all? Or at a zero?

You also need to make sure you are in towns that have the Halloween update. You can tell by looking at the neighbor screen and seeing if their count is ABOVE 0.

    • no its because the game has 0ne frend straight away and you have to get reall pepole when theris a messege says add or decline press add then go to his town then you can use gremlins

  8. carl beetlestone

    Add me daily player Carlscfc1988

  9. Add me as a friend. I play all day.

    104rogerwilco

  10. Add me natisalgado
    Play every day,!

  11. My friends have out gremlins in my town and can’t place anymore. However I cannot see the gremlins placed in my town. Is this a glitch? Or fixable?

    • Like Sideshow Bob, they hide. Some really well. In any decoration, along sea line, behind buildings. Just got to watch as you’re playing to see where they pop up. They disappear in n out all the time in mine.

  12. please add me! cloudzero64

  13. Why is it that for some neighbors I can’t seem to drop some gremlins? The gremlin tab on the right isn’t even there. Is it becuase they are inactive because I know they havent played in months. Is there a minimum number of gremlins you need in order to place them in neighbors homes ?

    • Do they have a number higher that 0 on their GOO counter when you see them on the neighbor map? If not that means they haven’t activated the quest yet. If they haven’t built the Gypsy Fortune Teller Building yet they haven’t activated ghost pooping and gremlin dropping. Which is why no Gremlin Icon would appear in the top right. 🙂

      • Well that explains it. Thank.. looks like I need to find some new neighbors whom don’t have too many friends so I can put the gremlins somewhere

    • They need to gypsy house to start ghost and gremlinsq

  14. Please help, do I understand it correctly that if I send 1 Gremlin to a friend’s town, it gets me 4 goo but if he squashes it he an me both get 2 goo each?
    Many thanks in advance.

    • That’s exactly right. So at the very least you’ll always get 2 GOO per Gremlin dropped. 🙂

      • Thank you, do I need Goo or any rides in Krustyland
prepared for one of the Halloween tasks?
Do I need to reach a certain point in Krustyland for a questline?
        Many thanks in advance.

        • Nope. Krustyland for the most part is inactive during this event (you can’t collect GOO or Gremlins for it). BUT you will unlock a special ride for Krustyland (the Twirl ‘N’ Hurl) at 6,500 GOO. It will be stored into your inventory and you’ll need to go to Krustyland to take it out. It also has a mini quest that only requires Bart. You can read more about it here. 🙂
